That was a right old strop prince Louie pulled off watching the parade with poor Kate trying to be firm in the midst of the worlds eyes He pulled faces, he thumbed his nose tried to smack her face a few times I think that he needed the naughty step , I wonder if that’s where he went when they got home He’s obviously ‘the character’ in the family

He is just a normal three year old. Bless him.
I have three boys and when they were very young I could persuade the first and third to be on their best behaviour, but the second one was always himself. I remember many embarassing moments!! I like to remind him now and then shock

CraftyGranny Tue 07-Jun-22 15:03:31

I should add he must have been bored standing there

kittylester Tue 07-Jun-22 15:05:30

I expect he was tired. Strikes me as normal for his age.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 07-Jun-22 15:06:36

There is another thread about his very bad behaviour.
Bless him? I don’t think so.

MawtheMerrier Tue 07-Jun-22 15:07:40

His name is Louis - not Louie (or Hughie or Dewey)

AGAA4 Tue 07-Jun-22 15:32:28

Louis was a bit too young at four to sit still and behave for that length of time. He would have been bored after a short time.

Sassanach512 Tue 07-Jun-22 16:15:51

I agree AGAA4 it was a big ask to expect a 4 year old to sit still through all of that. My grandson is 7 and he'd have 'ants in his pants' as my mother used to say. Prince Louis is just a normal little boy if 4

TerriBull Tue 07-Jun-22 16:50:21

Small children often play up when they've got an audience and he had some audience shock I always approached the pick up from parties aged 3 or 4 with trepidation, one of mine had to bribed off the premises from play dates, there would always be the risk of knowing there would be a certain amount of showing off when there are other people around and their worst side coming out. In any event asking Louis to sit through all that aged 4 was a big ask.

BlueBelle Tue 07-Jun-22 16:51:44

Well for everyone jumping to conclusions I didn’t throw any blame at the boy just said he went into a right old strop whilst sitting there
And I do apologies for spelling his name wrong Maw, kindly pointed out
Who said he wasn’t normal ??? blimey why bother

avitorl Tue 07-Jun-22 17:02:45

I think William's young family were expected to sit through long, boring sessions in full public view and it was just too much for the three of them.
I definitely think Louis should have been removed from the situation before he reached the stage he did.
I did feel sorry for Kate too trying to handle the fall out in full view of the audience

Kim19 Tue 07-Jun-22 17:08:16

I think too much was asked of him.

J52 Tue 07-Jun-22 17:27:14

I agree it was a lot to expect from him. My GD, the same age, would have been looking for an escape route! ?

MrsKen33 Tue 07-Jun-22 17:36:09

Mind you George did a lot of gurning. Was he bored or tired ?

BlueBelle Tue 07-Jun-22 17:38:41

Probably too much to ask of any of them to be sure it was a very long time to try and sit still I saw a picture of Louis on grandad s knee at one point probably worked better that way

GrannyGravy13 Tue 07-Jun-22 17:48:30

I found Louis quite amusing. One of my sons was a real handful at that age but grew up to be perfectly well behaved. I was a fairly strict parent.

Sarcelle Tue 07-Jun-22 18:36:37

I think it was a big ask to expect him to behave over such a long period of time, and it was in a very strange situation. The oldest boy isn’t much of a smiler, very grave.

Jaxjacky Tue 07-Jun-22 19:13:12

I don’t think it was bad behaviour, normal 4 year old with a limited attention span and a surfeit of energy!

Cherrytree59 Tue 07-Jun-22 19:28:18

I loved the pictures of Louis sitting on grandads lap.
He is obviously quite fond of his Grandpa.
It would seem that Charles is a hands on grandfather with William's children.

It was nice also to see Camilla taking her turn with Louis.

Serendipity22 Tue 07-Jun-22 20:41:26

You mean normal behaviour for a child his age!

Bless him wink

jenpax Tue 07-Jun-22 21:16:55

Heavens my two youngest DGS’s (5,3 years) would have been way worse? I dread to think what would be said about their melt downs which are very regular and beyond stressful!
Thank goodness we aren't Royalty!

WharfedaleGran Tue 07-Jun-22 21:24:17

I was tempted to post a little about developmental stages and brain maturation, and how these affect the child’s ability to tolerate such demands as sitting still for hours, and affect their behaviour… overstimulation, etc.

But then… it’s not going to change anybody's mind who just looks and sees a “naughty” child. So sad. No doubt in time he’ll be groomed to be the perfect royal child, with a suitably solemn face.

It’s not normal.

LadyStardust Tue 07-Jun-22 21:33:11

I imagine he would've been fast asleep by the time he got home! Kate was no doubt aware they were on camera and however she handled the situation there was always going to be comments and criticism. Perhaps in a private situation things would've been dealt with differently! However, I thought she dealt with things calmly and Louis did remarkably well considering the full on weekend they were having!

Iam64 Tue 07-Jun-22 21:49:39

I enjoyed seeing him misbehave. It reminded all of us that our three year old boy isn’t naughty, he’s normal like Louis
I was impressed by the way Kate responded. Very entertaining to see him demand to go to grandpa then wriggle and want to move again. Poor Charles at a similar age, saluting his mummy on return from a long trip away . The royal family is changing ?
