Prince Louie going through THAT stage

I was tempted to post a little about developmental stages and brain maturation, and how these affect the child’s ability to tolerate such demands as sitting still for hours, and affect their behaviour… overstimulation, etc.

But then… it’s not going to change anybody's mind who just looks and sees a “naughty” child. So sad. No doubt in time he’ll be groomed to be the perfect royal child, with a suitably solemn face.

It’s not normal.

Heavens my two youngest DGS’s (5,3 years) would have been way worse? I dread to think what would be said about their melt downs which are very regular and beyond stressful!

I loved the pictures of Louis sitting on grandads lap.
He is obviously quite fond of his Grandpa.
It would seem that Charles is a hands on grandfather with William's children.

It was nice also to see Camilla taking her turn with Louis.

I don’t think it was bad behaviour, normal 4 year old with a limited attention span and a surfeit of energy!

I think it was a big ask to expect him to behave over such a long period of time, and it was in a very strange situation. The oldest boy isn’t much of a smiler, very grave.

I found Louis quite amusing. One of my sons was a real handful at that age but grew up to be perfectly well behaved. I was a fairly strict parent.

Probably too much to ask of any of them to be sure it was a very long time to try and sit still I saw a picture of Louis on grandad s knee at one point probably worked better that way

Mind you George did a lot of gurning.Was he bored or tired ?

I agree it was a lot to expect from him. My GD, the same age, would have been looking for an escape route! ?

I think too much was asked of him.

I think William's young family were expected to sit through long,boring sessions in full public view and it was just too much for the three of them.
I definitely think Louis should have been removed from the situation before he reached the stage he did.
I did feel sorry for Kate too trying to handle the fall out in full view of the audience

Small children often play up when they've got an audience and he had some audience I always approached the pick up from parties aged 3 or 4 with trepidation, one of mine had to bribed off the premises from play dates, there would always be the risk of knowing there would be a certain amount of showing off when there are other people around and their worst side coming out. In any event asking Louis to sit through all that aged 4 was a big ask.

I agree AGAA4 it was a big ask to expect a 4 year old to sit still through all of that. My grandson is 7 and he'd have 'ants in his pants' as my mother used to say. Prince Louis is just a normal little boy if 4

Louis was a bit too young at four to sit still and behave for that length of time. He would have been bored after a short time.

His name is Louis - not Louie (or Hughie or Dewey)

I have three boys and when they were very young I could persuade the first and third to be on their best behaviour, but the second one was always himself. I remember many embarassing moments!! I like to remind him now and then
