Virtual cruise Lyon to Avignon and Arles

MawtheMerrier Fri 17-Jun-22 20:24:32

Mmm!the sea bass was delicious.
Inspired choice to serve it with samphire too.
But maybe I need un petit trou normand
And then, afters - or après as we say in French.

Is anybody getting a lot of interference on their broadband?
Do you think it might be the heat?

MawtheMerrier Fri 17-Jun-22 20:34:57

Or perhaps I’ve been hacked?
Hacked off certainly!

CaravanSerai Fri 17-Jun-22 20:39:26

Second that. Thank you Josieanne.

Yes. Weather can affect your connectivity. Various reasons. Heat can cause cabling to expand which then affects the flow of electromagnetic wave signals. Do you have storms forecast?

ixion Fri 17-Jun-22 20:40:02

Could well be!
Difficult to see in that get up☹️

MawtheMerrier Fri 17-Jun-22 20:41:45

Chères amies , chères amies
Dormez - vous? Dormez-vous?
Goûtez les tartines
Buvez des martinis
Splash, splash, splosh!
Bish, bash, bosh!

MawtheMerrier Fri 17-Jun-22 20:43:57

I think it’s more like annoying pop-ups.
However,so be it.
Gardeners World is going on in the background and I thought you might like to see this

I think Maw drank more of the Demoiselle than most!

Johnny Eagle was his name. He was still performing in the 1970s when I working around there but I have no memory of having seen him We used drink in the Tiger Tavern. All I can remember is a glitter ball.

CaravanSerai Fri 17-Jun-22 20:53:46

That's brilliant! The handsome Iolo was on Springwatch up in Mull early this week looking at orchids explaining about their anatomy so to speak.

Odd you should say that as my adblocker has gone into overdrive this evening on GN. Something's up and not to do with the weather methinks.

The 1970s? That's amazing. I'm sure it was the very late 1950s I saw him with a friend and her mother.
Bet they'd have to submit a Risk Assessment these days before they could perform!!
Many thanks for sharing.

Hey Team - look!
We are top of the Active list???
Well done, everyone!

CaravanSerai Fri 17-Jun-22 21:22:15

Where did you get your picture? There's info about him on a blog called London Inheritance.

Do we win a glitter ball?

ixion Fri 17-Jun-22 21:25:26

That's the one!
Where does the glitter ball fit in?

Tomorrow, if this were the real world, we would be turning the boat around and heading back to Avignon. However, as this is not the real world we can do as we please.

If you like, we could carry on downstream and head for the seaside at Port St Louis pictured. We could maybe have an excursion to Aix en Provence - for the art lovers who like Cezanne.

I guess we'll have to hand over the boat as some point but from then on we could explore Marseille, nip round the coast to Toulon, Cannes, Nice.

What do people think? Go back or carry on as free-wheelers?

MawtheMerrier Fri 17-Jun-22 21:45:35

We’re the tops we’re the Coliseum
We’re the tops, we’re the Arles museum
We’re a melody, a symphony by Vivaldi
And what’s more, we’re Napoleon brandy.
A Picasso pic, a Clooney flick, a bottle of something red
Wearing silken PJs or Chanel 5 when we go to bed.

We’re the tops, GN has exposed it
We’re the tops we don't care who knows it
Intrepid sailors who’re never failures we know our worth
And we parked this boat with (only ) minor damage to our berth.
We’re the tops, it won’t be forever
But who cares, if we can sail together
Here for laughs, like the famous Argy
But for once , we are on a barge-y
So if other threads have just dropped off “Active”
they will have to give up and stop
Because Cruising with the Grannies is the tops!

MawtheMerrier Fri 17-Jun-22 21:47:03

Who says we have to give it back - we can be like Thelma and Louise and head off into the sunset (or until we run out of navigable water)
Let’s explore!

Mollygo Fri 17-Jun-22 21:49:49

Carry on! Definitely. All you need is food (and someone to make your bed in the morning and turn it down at night).

CaravanSerai Fri 17-Jun-22 21:50:33

That is brilliant! Mr Porter would be proud! smile

CaravanSerai Fri 17-Jun-22 21:52:12

My answer to both Maw and Molly is Brad Pitt. smile

MawtheMerrier Fri 17-Jun-22 21:53:17

Perhaps we should rename the thread Carry On Cruising!
Oo-er!

CaravanSerai Fri 17-Jun-22 22:03:54

Well we're heading for Marseille and sailors bars. That could entice Julian and Sandy on board.

Joseanne Fri 17-Jun-22 22:10:01

You're on a roll, Maw. At least our bateau hasn't been doing the same movement.
I vote we carry on. Aix, St. Tropez Cannes, Nice and ending up in Monaco. We might evenbbe able to organise coffee with Brigitte in Brégançon and get some fashion beauty tips from her. And maybe a Q & As session with Emmanuel?

ixion Fri 17-Jun-22 22:23:00

?I'm having such a good time
I'm having a ball
(Don't stop me now)?
Let's keep going! Love the sound of Joseanne's proposals.

Is Meryl OK to do the driving still??

MawtheMerrier Fri 17-Jun-22 22:36:10

Yay! I'm up for an adventure!

Joseanne Fri 17-Jun-22 22:38:59

Voulez-vous Meryl?
