The latest iPhone.

I'm trying to dispel the myth that poor people have "the latest" iphone" which is trotted out with regularity here.
Hence, I'm asking who could tell without removing it from the poor person and comparing/contrasting it.

So, people would need to compare, as a rule.
Size, thickness, the charging "bit" (whatever that's called!) model number...

Configuration/number of camera lenses

Thickness of device

Size of device

Weight of device

Get them to customise their homepage then you can tell quickly who’s is who’s

(good luck)

My boys get their phones muddled up.
One will be the latest model, and one not, and they are both very savvy.

I’ve just compared my newest iPhone (18 months old) with previous one (5 years old) and they are different.

So, a person might have to check the model number on the back, to be sure?

The iPhones are all slightly different.

The older models will not be able to access the recent updates, and some banking apps will not work on the older models.

Sorry no experience of Samsung or other android models ?‍♀️

How old is ‘old’?

My phone was my GD’s, she upgraded to her mum’s old one, (as you do), so Granny came in for the out of date one!

It’s an i phone SE.

Is that considered ‘old’ re banking apps etc? Seems ok at the moment, no desire to change.

Could you tell by looking, grannygravy?

I think my AC and the older GC definitely could, they are different sizes, thinness and the camera lenses on the back are different.

The model No is on the back

One feature of an iPhone is that it syncs with any other Apple devices that you have, so for exampl your emails, texts, photos etc come up on your iPad.
It also syncs with your car technology, if you have an up to date model, so for example mine will contact my breakdown provider and tell them exactly where I am.

No, I don’t think you can tell what phone it is, by just ‘looking’ at it …

MissAdventure Fri 10-Jun-22 14:47:40

Oh, but you were!
I'm trying to find out who is savvy enough to cast a cursory glance over a phone and know.
Certainly not me!!

I couldn’t tell you Miss A. The only reason, I treated myself to an iPhone XR, this is slightly larger (in measurements) than my old phone (iPhone 6) and the storage is 64GB. I store lots of photos of the grandchildren etc
I don’t know the difference between iPhone and Samsung . I hope someone will come along with more info ….I was really no help, was I ??

Could anyone explain how it differs from others?
Is there a way of being able to tell, in a brief glimpse, what model it is?

How does the iPhone differ from a Samsung, for example, and how can you tell, just by sight, what model and make it is?
