I’m just being silly

Due to have a procedure tomorrow for a “trial” which might help a bit with some of my fine selection of tumours (but most likely to help further the research) and I’m getting a bit anxious about the general anaesthetic. I don’t like the feeling of helplessness when you are wheeled into the theatre. Tell me I’m being daft….

Best of luck Lucca, I hope all goes well.

All will be well Lucca. I had an operation recently with an epidural. I have no memory of anything the theatre. When you wake it will be finished and you will be doing your bit for us all as well as hopefully helping you too. Best wishes

I have no more to add to the helpful and kind posts so far, Lucca, but send you good vibes for pleasant dreams, there will be a virtual hand hold from me too. Thank you for what you are doing.

You're not alone, Lucca, I think a general anaesthetic is a worrying thing - perhaps it's the thought of not being in control?
However, anaesthetists and the nursing staff are always so kind and before you know it you'll be back in recovery.

I hope the results of the trial will help you and others flowers

Thank you Lucca for taking part in thistrail. It is perfectly normal to feel anxious and you should tell the medical staff how you are feeling as they know how to put patients at ease. flowers

Good luck for tomorrow Lucca - I hope and trust that everything goes well for you. You’re not being daft at all - just feeling vulnerable. I felt exactly the same when I had my BC surgery. Tell them how you’re feeling (they’ll want to know so they can reassure you). Thinking of you and sending positive thoughts and vibes x. flowers

They will look after you, hold your hand and then you’ll be very relaxed and sleepy and won’t know a thing until you wake up and it’s all over. It’s a nice feeling and not frightening.

Good luck, thinking of you as ever.

X

geekesse

I love going under general anaesthetic! I’ve had a few procedures over the years, and look forward to the quick, easy, blissful descent into sleep.

So do I!! I love it that as soon as you ‘go under’, you seem to immediately wake up again.
I’m sure everything will be fine for you Lucca. flowers

Good Luck Lucca you are not being daft.
The last time I had to have a GA they gave me a cap to put on and I was shaking so much I couldn't do it.You are very brave taking part in a trial when you know how it will make you feel. If you have to do it again ask for something to calm you before hand. shamrock

Urmstongran Wed 15-Jun-22 15:55:24

Adding my best wishes too Lucca you will be FINE. You’ll be in good safe hands being monitored all through the procedure. Thank you for taking part in research to benefit others. x

You are certainly not being silly, most people are apprehensive about going into theatre and having a GA. But, just think how lucky we are that there is such a thing as GA! Last year I had to have an operation on my hand and this was carried out in theatre, but with a local anaesthetic; I would have much preferred to have been knocked out! Good luck for tomorrow thanks

henetha Wed 15-Jun-22 18:53:46

Huge good wishes to you for tomorrow. You're not silly, you are human. I fervently hope it all goes well. ?
