In Northumberland it's 16°c breezy and damp. Look...

Cooler here in London now - such a relief!

I'm always amazed by all the open doors and windows about - people 'letting the breeze through' when it's hot outside.

Isn't it just obvious that the time to open those windows is very early or late, then close and shade them for the hot part of the day? If you want a breeze, run a fan. It was 32C outside and a comfortable 21C indoors.

We drove home tonight in pouring rain; it was dusk rather than dark and in the west the sky was orange through the rain.
Most unusual and interesting!

We went to a local family festival today. I started out with a summer dress and sandals at 11am, at 2 o’clock set off on a 30 minute walk home to change into jeans, jumper and warm jacket and trudge back with a big bag of warm clothes for four shivering grandsons.

Chris Fawkes, BBC Weather forecaster:
"Well, the heatwave's well and truly behind us today"

It was one hot day ......

You should all be so lucky. It's been 41C (103F) here today. Far too hot and the poor dogs are suffering. With a bit of luck the weather will break tomorrow.

Thankyou Yammy

I have similar childhood memories.
When I was at school we always had holiday that week, my grandmother always insisted on taking us to the hoppings. She would take a big bag of food as she said the food on the Moor was poisonous, and we would sit beside one of the caravans to eat it, no matter what the weather was like.
I have never been on there since my own grandchildren were very young.I have heard you need a bank loan newt take your family.

I am in the south east and today started out ok but by midday it was grey and overcast and its rained on and off all day.
Yesterday I was at the seaside it was hot and I had a swim, on the sea, everyone was having fun, but today couldn’t be different.
One decent day doesn’t make a summer. Hope it’s not too long a wait till our next good day.

I live in Newcastle and it is rather miserable weather today 18C
Never really reached above 22 yesterday.
Mind the Hoppings open tonight always bad weather when they are here.

Find your wellies pink princess I can remember plodging around the Hoppings on the Town Moor six inches deep with clart. Two little girls desperate to go on anything, me to just get up to Gosforth and home.smile

Best temperature here 21°c on Thursday. Today 14°, mostly overcast and breezy. Southern Northumberland is beautiful but seems to have its own microclimate.

East coast No not what I call a heatwave ONE lovely warm day late 20 s then back down the scale and raining today
Ohh I wish…..

NonnaW Sat 18-Jun-22 13:30:02

30+ yesterday in Cambridgeshire, currently it’s 14 and raining. What a turnaround!

Witzend Sat 18-Jun-22 12:21:53

A couple of showers here this morning, but warm and sunny again, so I’ll be wearing one of my sack-of-potatoes hot-weather dresses - long, cool and covered-up.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 18-Jun-22 10:18:56

Around 30 degrees in north Norfolk yesterday but we had a wonderful sea breeze all day. This morning the temperature’s half that and it’s been raining, more forecast later. I’m not complaining, I don’t like hot weather now and the water butts will be full again!

I have often thought that sharing things around would make life pleasant for the whole world. Weather would be one thing that could do with evening out.

MrsKen33 Sat 18-Jun-22 07:56:11

Positively tropical here. Warmish and very heavy rain ????

Marydoll Sat 18-Jun-22 07:45:50

karmalady

my son loves glagow weather

I'm willing to share some of it!

I don't like really hot weather, but a bit of sunshine always boosts my spirits.

It' s only 11° here in Glasgow. I'm getting a bit annoyed at hearing from the newsreaders that the country is in the throes of a heatwave. No its not, only some of the country is!

Sago, we have an almost identical set of tables and chairs.
The garden photos are lovely.

29 yeaterda, grey and cooler today. I survived fine yesterday, floated around in a cool kaftan but main thing was that I blocked the sunrays from coming in through the windows. I pre-empted the sun and shut all east shutters before I went to bed. Definitely it worked, my house stayed at 24 through the whole of yesterday. It is a bit methodical but the west shutters were closed at 2 and the east shutters were opened

I was thinking of my sisters in aus, both moved because of the heat, one within a year of moving because the fires came so close. It was a constant 40 there. I am a cool weather person, never could stand the heat

Shandy57 Fri 17-Jun-22 23:51:37

I'm in Northumberland too and was surprised to wake up to such a dull morning after yesterday. Lovely sunset tonight!

Zonne Fri 17-Jun-22 23:37:07

No heatwave for me either.

Poured with rain all night, then dry, but very cold and windy today in Orkney. But I had a shadow all day, for the first time in a week!

Tomorrow there will be gale force winds, apparently, and temperatures will feel about 6 degrees.

NanKate Fri 17-Jun-22 22:28:34

You can tell it’s hot here in Bucks I’ve removed my cami, refused a hot water bottle, had 2 showers and have a fan going in the bedroom. Phew ?

Harris27 Fri 17-Jun-22 21:35:31

Agree pink princess.

Harris27 Fri 17-Jun-22 21:35:06
