WELCOME. How pleased I am to be able to say...we have a new gathering place.

soop Wed 13-Jul-22 15:43:58

Sorry, forgot to add the pics...

cornergran Wed 13-Jul-22 16:07:03

Lovely photos as always soop. Pleased Mr Soop’s blood results were reassuring. Hoping your phone conversation this afternoon will be helpful

I’ve also been ironing, didn’t mind at all as I find it quite relaxing. Chores this morning followed by a hair cut for me. We had wondered about a late picnic lunch, sadly inertia set in so it was home to a late lunch of a stir fry which means no cooking later.

Decided on a wander tomorrow, up and away in the morning, or that’s the theory grin. We’re hoping to head for a different beach, maybe Lyme Regis - or maybe not. See what the day brings.

Your birthday sounded just right ann. Pleased you enjoyed it.

TOYA, look after yourselves everyone.

muse Wed 13-Jul-22 16:12:51

I went off in search of 85 candles the other day but found this instead ann. Your day sounded just the tonic you needed.
Sorry I missed dropping into the kitchen yesterday to wish you many happy returns of the day. Belated fond wishes ?

Naughtyneine Wed 13-Jul-22 16:28:28

A tyke..I love that..well I did when I checked it meant mischievous ...the other meaning is a coarse unpleasant man.... I'll go with the former if that's ok Soop. I hope this afternoon's phone call goes well for you. Fearing I might be banned from Aldi... I've been to Asda today.. ostensibly to get some watercress to make soup... Somehow or other 2 new bras with matching briefs fell into my basket along with one of their dine in meals..... Sirloin steaks...creamy garlic mushrooms , a sticky toffee pudding and a bottle of white wine (all for £12.) That's dinner sorted I'll add some croquet potatoes for DOH. Now all I need to do is gather enough strength to try on said undies.... It's not the taking off of clothes in this heat.... It's the persuading myself they have to go back on!!!!!. Stay cool you lovely ladies.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 13-Jul-22 17:30:44

Beautiful photos Soop.
I’ve been cooking this afternoon. We had run out of lemon ice cream so I made a batch. I also whipped up a sour cream chocolate cake. We are going to our favourite local restaurant later. Sadly, it may be closing at the end of the month.

annsixty Wed 13-Jul-22 18:09:28

Oh I wish I had that tee shirt *Muse?

brook2704 Wed 13-Jul-22 18:27:48

Such beautiful photos soop thanks for sharing. Good to hear Mr Soops bloods were ok and hope your call with the consultant goes well tomorrow
It’s been a wee bit breezy here in Inverness today - much cooler too but I’m not complaining. I’ve been weeding most of the day - I really don’t know why we get so many weeds. I mowed the grass too and watered the pots etc. We’ve got tomato, basil and mozzarella risotto for tea with a salad on the side. I think I’ll add a large glass of wine too as we didn’t have any at the weekend as we were looking after DGS. He’s having a great time at his cub camp at Lochgoilhead - they put lots of photos on Facebook so I can keep a sneaky eye on what he’s up to! Meanwhile DD2, SIL and DGD are at Alton Towers having a great time!
Love the T-shirt muse!
Enjoy your day out tomorrow corner we’re due to be in Lyme Regis at the beginning of September when we are back walking the coastal path

ShazzaKanazza Wed 13-Jul-22 19:00:32

Good evening lovely Kitcheners. DS and GS have just gone. GS was enjoying water play in the garden so DS could stay for tea. We bought one of those slides you lay on the ground and you attach a hose to it so you slide on your belly along it. We put it under the slide and GS loved it sliding down the slide and shooting along the floor. Can’t imagine how much our water bill will be!!
I’ve had a phone consultation with the pharmacist today about coming off Lansoprazole and going on a different one. Lansoprazole isn’t good for my bones. Well that ship sailed long ago unfortunately. But I’ll try the other one.

Soop your pics are gorgeous I just showed my DH and explained where you lived and how wonderful it sounds. Love that T Shirt Muse. I’m so pleased you enjoyed your birthday Ann and you were spoilt as you should be.
If my grandson had seen those balloons he’d have run outside with them and let them go. He did that for his daddy’s birthday in May. Son’s gf bought him helium balloons and GS let them go straight away getting satisfaction watching them float away?‍♀️ What can you do.

Naughtyneine your watercress soup sounds lovely and refreshing.

I’ll catch up with you all tomorrow. Speak soon. Sleep well ?everyone x

Jaxjacky Wed 13-Jul-22 19:57:03

Slightly cooler today, watered my friends allotment at 7, lovely then.
We’re not far from Lyme corner and brook well, hour and a half, we’re off to Bridport in November, a favourite.
Just eaten dinner, I’ll be watering the greenhouse soon, I hope all the baby tomatoes come to fruition.
Enjoy your evening all x

MawtheMerrier Wed 13-Jul-22 20:32:48

Feeling rather sheepish ?- trying to step overGS’s elaborate train track this evening , I lost my balance, destroyed the layout while staggering about and eventually just managed to miss the corner of the chimney breast and landed in a stack of crates of toys, not the softest landing!
The only real casualty was, sadly Buzz Lightyear who I managed to decapitate! ! SIL can fix him but this is the sorry sight .
D was alarmed but I am none the worse - just feel like a silly old granny. Clumsy and not with great balance sad

Bellanonna Wed 13-Jul-22 20:41:32

Oh dear! Maw I know the feeling, I really do. Long as you are not too hurt, apart from the dignity, and I’m sure Buzz will get fixed quickly. It’s a horrible shock when you feel yourself going and you can’t stop it.

Blossoming Wed 13-Jul-22 20:49:31

You have my sympathies Maw, I have had a few unpleasant falls recently. I’m glad you’re not hurt, but it is still a very upsetting experience.

brook2704 Wed 13-Jul-22 20:56:13

Oh dear Maw hopefully you’re ok and Buzz can easily be fixed. Easily done though, you’re definitely not a silly old granny or clumsy
Your DGS sounds such a lovely boy Shazza, my DGC have one of those water slides too
The south coast is a lovely place to live Jax, I’ve never been to Bridport but maybe someday. I do love travelling abroad but I really do think we’ve lots and lots on offer in the UK too

Urmstongran Wed 13-Jul-22 21:42:21

Evening All’.

Such interesting posts tonight kitcheners! A joy to read. A cartwheeling Maw who took Buzz Lightyear out all by her own big self. Some feat! Such gorgeous sunset photographs soop I am SO envious that’s the view at the bottom of your garden. I could drink that sight in for hours “for my sins” of course ... #lazygran.

And Muse what a brilliant tee shirt! No wonder annsixty would love it! Mind you her friends would be saying “it’s lovely but haven’t you got the year wrong dear? Really no?” I bet that ‘Palmolive’ soap has worked wonders. And please remember annsixty that birthdays are just Nature’s way to remind us to eat more cake.

dustyangel Wed 13-Jul-22 21:47:42

Oh dear Maw you made me laugh maybe because it is the sort of accident that I could easily inflict on myself. I hope there is no lasting damage, you too soop!

Very belated Birthday Wishes Ann, yours was one of the earlier posts that I read on GN and it gave me hope that there was still hope of a good life as you get older. You still do and yet you are only a few years older than me. I hope you’ve had a wonderful extended birthday ? flowers

Blossoming Wed 13-Jul-22 23:20:49

Hope your telephone appointment goes well Soop.

Goodnight everyone.

Blossoming Thu 14-Jul-22 12:55:35

Oh dear! I see I have killed yet another thread, was it something I said? grin

Dogsmakemesmile Thu 14-Jul-22 14:53:45

Afternoon all. Maw I hope you and Buzz have recovered fully. Soop fingers crossed you heard what you wanted to hear and Muse that is a wonderful T shirt.
Just grabbed the washing in as it looked like the heavens were going to open and I could feel raindrops. Two minutes later it is back to beautiful sunshine...never mind. Appreciated the cooler weather we have had today. Worrying about family members down in London next week. It is going to be so hot.
Well, worrying solves nothing so will suggest oodles of cool water etc etc
Loads of baking done this morning and have frozen most of it. I so often over bake and we end up wasting food. Trying to be more efficient.
Really quiet here as the schools broke up almost a couple of weeks ago.
TOYA

soop Thu 14-Jul-22 16:25:23

A cheerful good afternoon to you lovely lot.

Naughtyneine Mischievous and lovely with it. That's you.

Maw Poor you. Poor Buzz. I am relieved to hear that your fall wasn't as bad as it might have been. I wonder how many of us have had falls this year. My bruised hand and wrist is now a sickly shade of yellow. Silly thing is, as I lay sprawled on the drive, I was most anxious that no passing motorist would see me. hmm

annsixty That tee-shirt would look fab on you.

I have had a lengthy discussion with the cancer consultant. I've to stop the present medication and switch to Tamoxifen for a further five years. My late mother was on the same medication after her breast was removed. She then needed the second breast removed. Finally, liver cancer ended her life at just 62.
Having Googled the side effects, I thought to myself hmm. I shall however do as advised.

A bit of a day for doing some of my least favourite jobs aboot the hoos. After an two hour blitz, I was well and truly knackered. Time for a brew and a read of the paper.

Take care of yourselves. I shall return tomorrow. smile moon

Last night's sky...

Yiayia4 Thu 14-Jul-22 16:27:21

Wonderful pics Soop.Hope you have good news today.
It’s a bit cooler today a pleasant breeze at the moment.

DH’s brother will be coming home soon. The hospital feel they can’t do anymore and he will be better at home. That’s good, but we hope my SIL gets plenty of help she will certainly need it.!!

Looking forward to chicken souvlaki and a white wine spritzer later.
Enjoy your evening everyone.

Grandmabatty Thu 14-Jul-22 16:31:38

I'm glad to hear that your husband's brother is getting home Yiayia. I am very fond of chicken souvlaki! Soop I hope the change in medication helps. I have done three layers of undercoat on the front door and it's looking better. However I realise my eyesight isn't really good enough now for decorating. I'm a bit sad about that. Smoked haddock and pea risotto for dinner.

Bellanonna Thu 14-Jul-22 16:55:04

soop I hope the change to Tamoxifen will be helpful.
I laughed about your fear of being seen by passing motorists when you fell. I fell badly on New Year’s Day on a main road not far from home. As I lay there a bit stunned I was aware of a long procession of cars going past. A very kind man walking past helped me up and wanted to walk me home but I refused his kind offer saying “oh, I’m fine thank you”.
I ended up with fractured ribs and lots of bruises but apart from that I really was fine. I just reflected on how so many cars went past and didn’t stop. It’s a fairly minor B road , not a red route or anything like that. I wonder if they thought I’d been New Year revelling? . I know had I been driving I would definitely have pulled over.
I hope your hand gets better soon soop, and please take care!

gillgran Thu 14-Jul-22 17:08:24

Lovely sunset photo, soop, always a treat to see.
I've been admiring this month's "Buck" Full Moon the past couple of nights. I love to think of everyone able to look at the same moon.!! (reminds me of of music of my 2 sisters teenage years, late 50's? maybe, was it Pat Boon? "Bell Bottom Blues"?) I know most of you are far too young to remember.

Warm wishes to you all, especially those with extra worries.

Yiayia4 Thu 14-Jul-22 17:38:45

Crossed post Soophope the new med helps.

brook2704 Thu 14-Jul-22 20:51:24

Hope the dreaded side effects are minimal soop and you manage on the new meds ok
It’s been quite a bit cooler here today, with a few drops of rain. Nothing much though so I stayed out in the garden most of the day. My eyesight is getting worse too grandmabatty I notice it when gardening. Good on you though for painting your front door - that’ll be some achievement when done. What colour did you go for?
I know what you mean about it being lovely that we all look at the same moon or sun wherever you are gillgran
