WELCOME. How pleased I am to be able to say...we have a new gathering place.

annsixty Fri 29-Jul-22 22:11:41

My GD has put photographs on FB but I don’t know how to put them on here.

cornergran Fri 29-Jul-22 22:54:25

Pleased you had a good time ann, you surely deserve it

Many congratulations urms, you describe a fight many of us have I fear.

Our friend has had surgery today, a tense, worrying day as the surgeon was concerned about the potential for another brain bleed. All seems well this evening . I much prefer being on the receiving end myself to worrying about some one close having a procedure. Our goddaughter has been worried but coped without too many calls.

I’ll be off now. A shared smile to all with positives in their lives and a hug for those struggling.

Night, night everyone. See you soon.

Grannmarie Sat 30-Jul-22 09:48:21

Thank you, Annsixty. Your night out with your DGD sounds wonderful!

Grannmarie Sat 30-Jul-22 09:51:59

Cornergran, hoping and praying for your dear friend's recovery, and some local support for your goddaughter. What a worrying time for you. ??

Very wise words AnnSixty

Yes, Shazza, my husband can “hear fine” too! It’s just that I mumble.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 30-Jul-22 11:29:39

Well, I’ve got as far as John Lewis in Oxford Street where I’ve had coffee, lemon squash and delicious cake. I think it was maple syrup and pecan. I got a very early bus - 8.30 am - from Oxford. It was nearly empty at the bus station but within two or three stops was full. We were told by the driver to get a bus back from Victoria or it would be difficult getting a seat. I’m not meeting my son for an hour so I might drift down to ladies wear.

Grannmarie Sat 30-Jul-22 11:49:37

Enjoy your meet up with your son, Llfl.

Life in our town has been overshadowed the last 2 days by the news of a 9 year old girl stabbed to death whilst playing in the street with her younger sister. My heart goes out to her family, they must be absolutely devastated. I don`t know what has happened to Boston during the last few years.

Bellanonna Sat 30-Jul-22 15:20:22

I read that story with great sadness Hellogirl. I have a friend near Boston and the whole community is devastated. What kind of society are we becoming?

annsixty Sat 30-Jul-22 15:26:28

Such a terrible event.
A tragedy for her family and friends.
Deepest sympathy to them all.

Grannmarie Sat 30-Jul-22 15:36:03

I was so sad to hear of that, Hellogirl.
I can't begin to imagine what the wee girl's loved ones are going through. What is our world coming to?

Grandmabatty Sat 30-Jul-22 16:21:35

That is indeed a tragedy. Poor wee soul.
I had four hours sleep and dgs1 to contend with so I've had a loooong nap this afternoon. Dgs1 slept beautifully last night, but I didn't. He is such a lovely boy. I made Nigellas breakfast pancakes and there's batter left so I'll leave it in the fridge in the kitchen for you all tomorrow morning. I'm pooped.

Yiayia4 Sat 30-Jul-22 16:43:35

Poor little girl. Her family must be devastated.
Have a good rest Grandmabatty.?

cornergran Sat 30-Jul-22 17:06:03

A very sad incident hellogirl. I despair sometimes.

Our friend had a good night, is very sleepy with strong pain meds, all as good as it can be. I’m much feeling lighter now, just as well as we have friends coming to stay for a few days. I’m looking forward to their company, we always laugh a lot

Pre visit preparations sorted we’re off shortly to water pots at a friends. She has hopped off to the Cotswolds for a week, lucky soul. It will be feet up here this evening with a glass of chilled white.

Hope your day has gone well ladylfl. Has your energy returned grandmab?

Some of the family are flying back from a holiday this evening, the rest tomorrow. 40 degrees has been reported by them. I’m sort of pleased to have been here grin.

I’ll be missing for a few days, busy with our friends, warm wishes to you all, take care. TOYA.

soop Sat 30-Jul-22 17:11:23

Your wise words, annsixty help to put things in perspective. Grannmarie,to lose a son at so young an age, must be every parents nightmare. I know that it would be mine. May he rest in peace. flowers

Hellogirl I love my wee yellow Mini. Could you possibly wave a magic wand and make it big enough for me to drive? smile

I'm polishing my tarnished halo. Have pedalled for 40 mins and got nowhere. However, my heart is pumping in a most satisfactory fashion.

soop Sat 30-Jul-22 17:13:33

It is lovely to have you with us in the kitchen, fennel and Kate.

Grannmarie Sat 30-Jul-22 17:26:11

Thank you, Soop.
Well done on your cycling, 40 minutes is quite an achievement!

soop Sat 30-Jul-22 17:27:09

Hellogirl I understand that the wee girl's killer has been arrested.
Every evening, as we watch the news, I have the "prodder" ready in order to mute the sound when certain news items are broadcast. The wee baby, with the most engaging smile ,who was beaten to death by the very woman who intended adopting him, reduced me to tears. Why? I often ask myself, are some people so bloody cruel?

It is time to prepare our Saturday evening meal. Chicken pie, tiny baby tatties, lots of vegetables. Rhubarb crumble for pud. A veritable feast.

You are very special people. I often wish that we could all gather and speak in person. What a blethersome occasion that would be. wink

Until tomorrow, stay well. A huge thank you for your company. smile moon

soop Sat 30-Jul-22 17:31:27

I shall leave you with the sunset photo taken the night before last.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 30-Jul-22 17:43:33

Evening all, I have had a productive day. Finished the ironing mountain (including bedding) managed a big food shop and have prepared veggies for this evenings dinner along with Sunday lunch tomorrow.

We have two of our GC from early doors tomorrow until 7ish Monday evening ( 5 & 2) the youngest has stayed before but nit his sister, me thinks we will be rather busy.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 30-Jul-22 18:18:00

I had a lovely day in London. I’m now on the bus back to Oxford. I caught it from Victoria - we are now at Marble Arch and the bus is full. Son and I had a delicious lunch at Cote in Soho. The Summer Exhibition was brilliant. Here are two of my favourite exhibits - bad lemon and bees.

Kate1949 Sat 30-Jul-22 18:21:16

Thank you soop.

Blossoming Sat 30-Jul-22 19:12:35

Good evening dear Kitcheners. I was very tired after yesterday’s birdwatching trip, I mourn my lost energy. Today has been fairly quiet, it’s been raining all day so no garden time. I have done my 40 minutes too Soop, it’s getting easier now so I’ll bump it up to 45 minutes from tomorrow. I’ve also done my Gaelic lessons, getting excited now as we have reached level 2, making sentences from the words learned so far. I’m really enjoying it.

I have no hope of keeping up with all the news so I’ll just wish you all a good night x
