Good Morning Tuesday 5th July 2022
(47 Posts)Good morning from a bright E Kent.
I cannot tell you how touched we have been by all your kindnesses, support and, above all, love shown to us yesterday.
You are such a wonderful bunch of people. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Today, we shall start the gruelling round of letters and phone calls…. DH had organised his funeral, chosen the readings and hymns, etc., and wanted to to much the same as for Philip’s- a church ceremony with all the blessings and stuff, and a pen unaccompanied cremation. DD has decided she prefers not to take part but will do burial of ashes. I’m happy with whatever makes her/them comfortable.
Thank you again all of you, the ones who sent me a pm, and all of you.
Carpe diem ???❤️❤️?
Good morning Mick and All
So good to have you back here today grandMattie you are in the thoughts and prayers of some many of us. It seems as if your family has rallied round you and will support you during the days to come. ?
Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I’m still in bed but thought I’d post something before I get up. ??? for GM and her family and I pray that today isn’t too onerous. Today I will be mainly doing WI admin and beginning to think how I’m going to fit everything for a 4-night stay into a cabin case. I’m going with my daughter to Vienna on Thursday and definitely don’t want to check any luggage in! OH has a complicated dental appointment this afternoon. The dentist is going to try and strengthen the bone in his mouth to enable him to have a normal crown rather than an implant. All sounds very uncomfortable and painful.
Good morning Mick and everyone. I awoke to the sound of rain but now the sun is shining through the curtains. I’m pleased that appointments etc are all being set up for you Mick. Enjoy the cycling today.
Grandmattie, it sounds as though you DH had plans all set out for you, which I’m sure will be of great comfort. How lovely that each of you can feel able to attend the part of the goodbye that they feel works for them.
I’ve been in my room for a day, as I suddenly got gastric symptoms and felt achy etc so I’m self isolating until I’m sure I haven’t got the dreaded covid.
Good morning everyone, blue skies here in my corner of north Wiltshire.
Sending hugs to you grandMattie ?
Off to craft club this morning, I haven’t been for weeks due to one thing or another so I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone again.
DDog and I will have a walk first, she’s currently curled up on the bed while I have my first coffee , that’s our morning ritual nowadays!
I have a couple of big deliveries today, then hopefully I will finish the sorting out from the upheaval of getting decorating done ??!
Hope you all have a good day ?
Good morning from a bright and sunny Essex by the sea.
Thinking of you and your family GM ?.
I have lots of things to buy in town today so will go in by train this morning.
More tennis this afternoon.
Have a lovely day everyone and hopefully you all find some sun xx
A beautiful sunny morning here in Oxfordshire. grandMattie my thoughts are with you and your family. I hope you find glimpses of sunshine in these difficult, very dark days ahead.
We are now testing negative and will have a day out in the Cotwolds, which is close to where we live.
Good morning Michael and all GNs. It’s cold and overcast in South Yorkshire at the moment. GM I hope you are finding some peace at the moment. A busy time ahead with everyone pulling together for you?.
I have an early medical appointment this morning, then my step grandson is coming down and I have offered to ferry him to the tram stop down the road as he has a meeting in the city centre. Then, my grandson, who is doing his work experience week at a company near us has asked if he can come and have lunch here! I made the mistake of asking what he would like to eat. A large fry up has been ordered. What can a gran do? I am hoping for a peaceful afternoon!
Have the best day you can folks.
Good morning from sunny Leicestershire - well there is a little blue sky.
Busy day today, cleaners this morning, NWR this afternoon and book club this evening.
You and your family are in my thoughts Mattie.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Good morning from a dry NE where it has been very windy for the last 24 hours.
Plumber called in and looked at boiler, he is going to get a part and return to fix it today.
My sister rang yesterday and said she wanted to visit today but promised to do a test first.
I am supposed to be going on holiday on Saturday but I do not have the energy to prepare for it.
Thinking of grandMattie.
Good morning all from a sunny Hemel Hempstead.
We are here to collect DGD2 and 3 from school and give them tea while their parents are at Wimbledon. They have centre court tickets and are rather cross not to be seeing Cameron Norrie!
We intend to do some shopping until pick up time.
I hope today is not too difficult, gm.
Good morning all from a sunny calm Suffolk coast. The sea is like a mill pond.
A busy time ahead for you GM ! You’ll get through it, as you always do and with the support of your son and daughter , all will be well. ♥️.
We have my db , his wife and a couple of their friends visiting today. They will come for coffee and cake and a wander along the beach and then we’ll all head out for lunch somewhere.
Chrissielou so glad you’re now negative. Enjoy your day in the Cotswolds - you deserve it. ?.
We’re are so enjoying Wimbledon this year. The tennis is amazing. ?. I’m torn between watching tv and being outside, so pop in and out.
We’re still waiting for our shattered window to be replaced. 3-4 week wait for glass ?.
Enjoy your days ? and hope all goes well for appointments, travel, clubs etc.
Good morning from sunny Colchester. Another warm, dry day.
Tuesday is charity shop volunteering day.
Big hug for GM and all who need one.
Love to all ? x
GrandMattie I am holding you close in my thoughts at such a sad time for you and your family.
Peace be with you.
Good morning from a dull and cloudy Black Country.
DS and family should have landed in the early hours, so will be meeting him half way at Mums this afternoon to hand dog over. He hasn't been a bit of trouble, not heard him bark or even whimper. Photo is him staring at next doors cats who blithely thought they could come over the fence as usual into our garden, and were stopped in their tracks! They outstared each other for ages, with the two cats safely sitting on the fence.
Probably go for a walk with dog and Mum along the railway walk.
Wishing you all a good day, with special thoughts of grandMattie .
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° with bright skies. It's still very windy though. Grandmattie it's such a busy time. ?
Yesterday I pottered about and rehung paintings in my hall. I have a gallery wall and it had got messy. I did loads of ironing too. Dgs1 is improving slowly. He still needs a nap in the afternoon if he's been out in the morning which is definitely not like him!
Today I'm meeting a friend and ex colleague for coffee at my local garden centre so I don't have far to drive. We will blether for Scotland. This afternoon I think dd and the boys will descend for a while. Have a good day all.
Good morning, all, from a bright and sunny Torbay.
This morning, I’m holding you and your family in my thoughts, grandMattie, as you deal with the emotional and practical aftermath of your loss. Your staunch faith and supportive family must be a great comfort to you.
This evening, DH is due here from France for a week long visit, mainly to spend a weekend with my family in Crewe as my DGD has her dance school show performances on Sunday. He will also be able to grace us with his presence at a few rehearsals for ‘Allo, ‘Allo. The director and DH are great pals so banter is guaranteed!
A busy day ahead awaits, starting with Props and theatre admin this morning, followed by food shopping and tidying!!
What a lovely dog, NannyJan53!
I hope the sun shines, wherever you are. ?????
Good morning all from sunny Harrogate
My thoughts are with you GrandMattie for this difficult time. Glad your family are still there to support you
Today I have to open up the church hall ready for our art club, then at noon make sure it’s all locked up, get the bus home, have a run round the table, get changed, rest to be picked up at 1.30 for a trip with another church group to go to Horticap, which is a garden centre which supports people with learning disabilities, there we will have a cuppa and a cake (and a natter)
Glad you are now free of Covid Chrissielou
Have the best day possible folks
Morning Mick, morning All from a bright corner of Somerset
Hoping for a trip out today, perhaps to Wells. See where the car takes us.
And exhausting time grandmattie, hope there is some peaceful time amongst the busyness. I’m thankful your family can be with you, my thoughts are with you all. Hope everyone finding life hard going has a positive day and Tuesday is gentle with us all.
Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull.
Mick it’s good to have your appointment with the hospital. Phone appointments are the big thing nowadays.
grandMattie you popped in to my thoughts many times yesterday. ? to you and all your family. So pleased you have support.
Ladyleftfieldlover hoping your DHs dental appointment goes well. We have our first dental appointment soon since before covid. I broke a tooth in 2020 so we’ll see what they will do about it ouch!
I’m at the gym this morning and we have DGS again. His mum isn’t feeling well so they asked us to have him to save DS taking the afternoon off work. What can you do.
Have a good day everyone and hope today brings reasons to smile. Hugs to those with stress and worries??
Good morning all from a dull Black country.
Trip to the garden centre need to get a gift voucher for a present. Nothing else planned maybe some housework maybe not.
?for grandMattie and family you are in my thoughts.
Best wishes for anyone celebrating and virtual hugs where needed. Take care everyone and may you all find some ?.
Good morning Mick and everyone from grey Carlisle. I hope the rain holds off as I'm off out on a trip shortly...a cruise down Ullswater. It's been on the news recently with reports of geese being dragged under water by Something. Crocodiles have been suggested! If it's happening I would suspect something more ordinary like a large carp or similar. I'm taking my binoculars and camera and shall be on the lookout.
Thinking of you all, grandMattie. It's good that you have to be busy in the next few days.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Bright sunshine here today.
A house work kind of day for me before the next visitors arrive.
Thinking of you grandMattie in the coming days and weeks.
Your DH was thoughtful to make proper plans for his funeral.
Have the best day possible everyone
Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow. I'm so pleased to see GM posting.
Greyduster, what a lovely, but busy day ahead, you have
A quiet day ahead for me. I had a hospital appointment today, which I have cancelled. I'm not well enough to go and just couldn't face it.
Yesterday's blood letting attempt was a bit of a disaster and excruciatingly plainly and I am no wimp! So back again on Wednesday for someone else to have a go. I'm covered in plasters and bruises.
The irony is, that every bump I have bleeds, but they can't get blood from me.
However, this new appointment (the only one all week) clashes with my GP telephone appointment, but I couldn't get the phlebotomist to understand that I can't be in two places at the one time.
Just at that, Dr Nippie Sweetie went by. I suggested that she ask advice from the doctor, as the tests have to be done speedily.
The phlebotomist made a face and said, I'm too scared to talk to her, you will have to deal with it yourself at reception.?
Fortunately, the mum of a former pupil, who has always been a great support to me, was on reception and sent a message to the doctor to explain my problem.
I was quite tearful by the time I got back to DH.
It wasn't all doom and gloom yesterday.
I received a Mass bouquet (a step up from candle lighting) from our young sacristan. He is on the autistic spectrum and I have become very friendly with him. It was such a lovely and comforting gesture from this young man.
Later, I heard from the chief sacristan, another friend (I taught his four children), who was complaining the sacristy was too quiet, without me.
Those who have met me, will know exactly what he means. ?
Thinking of all our mountaineers, who are struggling at the moment, especially the DDs, the Kalus and GM and her family. I hope you find comfort in the support you find here.
Blossoming, I hope you have recovered from your recent fall.
Have a good day, folks.
