Kitty in Switzerland they have picture notices in the toilets for the Japanese visitors indicating they should sit on the seats to use the toilet and not stand on them and crouch down. As you were using a Japanese toilet did you adopt the local custom? ?

Whilst waiting for a ferry to hop to our next Greek island, the very good looking owner of our accommodation turned up at the port with a bra in a gift bag. AMA

Agreed Fanny

Kate, thank you.
To me, their most evocative songs are She’s Leaving Home and Lady Madonna.
For young working class lads of a certain era, they certainly could see things from a female perspective

kitty I admire your bravery although I an unsure what a Japanese toilet is like!

Sorry kitty. My post was misleading (attention seeking).
I am impressed re the bullet train. Did you have to cling on for dear life?

Anything we put on here must be attention seeking by definition.grin

I have to hang on for dear life in Japanese toilets anyway!! I would have waited till a western one became available but it was urgent! blush

I used a Japanese toilet while travelling at top speed on the Bullet Train. AMA

What made it so memorable Kitty? (?)

Oh sorry KittyLester I didn't read your post properly.

fairfraise Sat 09-Jul-22 18:25:54

Where is the Bullet Train?

Well it wasn't quite like that!! Some years ago The BBC did The Peoples Desert Island Discs. Each BBC local station invited people to apply to be on it, choosing their favourite record (just one) and to explain why they'd chosen it. I was chosen for our area to tell the reasons why I love Hey Jude.

Oh Kate, I was going to ask what other tracks you had apart from the Beatles!

Kate1949 Sat 09-Jul-22 18:21:28

Well I was Beatle mad. I've seen them a few times back in the day, have a photo of myself with them, as mentioned many times. I've spoken a few times on local radio about my Beatles escapades blush
Hey Jude epitomised the time for me. An anthem for escaping the horrors of home. Sorry to hijack the thread.

FannyCornforth Sat 09-Jul-22 18:14:28

Ah! That’s excellent Kate.
I did know that it was your favourite - what were your reasons?

I was on Desert Island Discs:AMA.

Were you really Kate?! ?
What did you choose as your luxury item?
(I dare not ask you why you were on there; too interesting!)

fairfraise Sat 09-Jul-22 17:53:14

What was your book to take, apart from the Bible and Shakespeare?

What was the last wine you tasted. I'm just enjoying a glass of white zinfandel. Don't have it often.

fairfraise Sat 09-Jul-22 17:34:01

Oh I've just realised . Saw the title!

fairfraise Sat 09-Jul-22 17:32:11

What does AMA stand for. I haven't a clue!

FannyCornforth Sat 09-Jul-22 15:56:14

Hello! smile
Just for a bit of a sunny Saturday chat.

As you probably know, Mumsnet, Reddit and other sites have ‘AMA’s.
(See above - the squid is ‘just because’; don’t worry).

As of just now, I see that Mumsnet have on the go

‘My DH was a member of a cult: AMA’

‘I was on Dragon’s Den: AMA’

‘I was born deaf: AMA’

You get the picture.

My own personal (lighthearted) favourite was from a few years back:

‘I’m your MIL: AMA’

I wanted to do an AMA for a while, but couldn’t think of anything about me that was of much interest; until I landed on my ‘Owl Story’ (which I wheel out at every opportunity).

So, what would your AMA be?
And are we allowed to AYA (please)?

Thank you! sunshine
