Church of England -why aren't you asking 'What is a Man?'

The Church of England now doesn't know what a woman is, despite successfully managing to discriminate against women for centuries.

Perhaps their minds would focus better if they considered 'What is a man?'

Also I think a nun is entitled to privacy dignity and the right to consent. I dont think womens rights should be based on their life experience.

By analogy, other choices, then, ought also to be enshrined in law. For a myriad of reasons, I don’t want any old Etonians in my space. Perhaps we should have separate facilities for those of us who were educated elsewhere from which old Etonian’s are barred? That is a ridiculous suggestion of course.

Chewbacca Sat 16-Jul-22 11:23:25

Sorry but that analogy is utterly meaningless to me.

I imagine a predatory male who dressed up as a woman to go to public toilets to prey would be not morally deficient , he'd be mentally deficient.

That analogy is ludicrous, and meaningless and not really an analogy, but if it makes you happy . . .

geekesse do you have statistics showing that old-etonians are more likely to be a physical danger to you in certain situations, than people educated elsewhere?

FarNorth Sat 16-Jul-22 13:17:46

What do you mean Caleo?
As more & more places, which should be single sex, accept anyone's claim to be a woman there is no need for dressing up.

FarNorth Sat 16-Jul-22 13:19:31

In any case, the wearing of 'women's clothes' is all part of the fun for many predatory men.

FarNorth Sat 16-Jul-22 13:23:29

By the way, those are not 'before pictures' for any of those bearded people.
They do all present in that way.
In fact one of them took a woman to court for using the pronoun 'he' when referring to him.
He lost, I'm glad to say.

snowberryZ Sat 16-Jul-22 13:31:20

There are also many tales of cis women being attacked as trans when they weren't

Where is your proof of this?

snowberryZ Sat 16-Jul-22 13:34:19

Heartening to hear that more men are sticking their heads about the parapet and calling it for the nonsense it is
Professor Robert Winston is the latest person to put people right.

Chestnut Sat 16-Jul-22 16:11:18

I heard him talking about that to Piers Morgan (interesting programme which I record and fast forward when required). He was very clear that we are born with male or female chromosomes and that cannot be changed!
Individuals having two X chromosomes (XX) are female; individuals having one X chromosome and one Y chromosome (XY) are male.
So although a man may have body bits added or removed, and hormone treatment, the chromosomes in their cells are still XY.

Mollygo Sat 16-Jul-22 16:17:40

True, and for those TW who have caused all the furore by endangering females, denying females their rights and cheating to make themselves look good, their brains are definitely XY.

FarNorth Sat 16-Jul-22 17:08:21

Sometimes the existence of people with differences of sexual development (often called intersex) gets brought into this.
As far as I know, those people always have a sex of female or male.
Even if that's wrong - they are a tiny minority and they are not the ones mainly involved in the transgender movement.

The huge majority of people claiming to be trans are bog-standard males & females.

Chewbacca Sat 16-Jul-22 18:17:45

Chestnut or anyone else who heard it, please could you tell me on what programme the Sir Robert Winstone interview was on? TV or radio? I'd like to catch up with that.

Chestnut Sun 17-Jul-22 00:03:44

This is Professor Robert Winston's interview:

I think I'm a little bit in love with Prof Robert Winston.
Truth and facts must be sexy !shock
Also quite like Piers Morgan these days and dont understand some of the hate he seems to get??? He often asks the questions that others are too chicken to ask .

The public arefinally waking up and about time too.

Chewbacca Sun 17-Jul-22 13:10:38

Thanks Chestnut much appreciated. Ditto snowberry.

Farzanah

It may come as a surprise that all humans do not fit into the binary model of all male or all female.
I know this is not particularly relevant to a trans discussion but sex is certainly nuanced.
There are estimated 1:1000 babies born “intersex”, and this is not always apparent at birth, and not necessarily dependent on appearance of genitalia.
There are also many more Karyotype chromosome variations ie other than the XX female and XY which is thought to define male and female.
Before dismissing this as rubbish check out the UK Intersex Association. ukia.co.uk for relevant information.
Transsexual is completely different of course.

hmm I think your figures and the source are very misleading. We both know it’s nowhere near 1 in a thousand.

snowberryZ Piers Morgan can be excellent when he's behaving himself. I record his show and fast forward as I only want to watch bits. The Robert Winston interview is an example of how interesting the programme can be. People generally speak their minds on there and PM tackles many of the subjects we discuss on GN like the transgender warriors 'cancelling' people, the blocking of free speech, the USA gun problem. All sorts of interesting subjects and interesting people you will never see on the other channels. He bangs on a lot and talks over people which can be annoying but he does shut up when they start opening up properly.

VS, nobody on here is saying that people should not be who they want to be. What we* are saying is that men cannot become women - they can become transwomen. We are saying that they should not compete against women in sport, that using self-id to enter women's spaces that were made so because of risk is unacceptable, and that mangling the language to exclude women as a sex class is misogynist. None of that means that people like the one in the video should suffer, although from the 10 seconds or so we can see, it is her parents who are unaccepting, not us, and I'm not sure of the point of the video in this context.

*I realise that I can't speak for everyone here, but know that those who disagree will say so.

Mollygo Sun 17-Jul-22 17:58:54

In all these threads, no one has ever said people should not be what they want to be, only that they should not use ‘being what they want to be’ as an excuse for cheating in sport, cheating in jobs, denying female rights to safe spaces-created for the very reason that some TW would try to access them, and claiming that they have changed sex-which is not possible.
The few transwomen who do that, together with those who support the rights of such TW to do those things have done more harm to trans people than anything else.

The video? I don’t understand why someone who wants to be seen as a ‘woman’ would want to show on film that they are actually male.
At 28 the person being filmed has had time to decide what gender they want to be. It tells nothing of what went on before in that person’s life, whatever it implies. We don’t know if this person is so convinced that they are a ‘woman’, that they have 1. opted for surgery to remove their male attributes or whether 2. they have plans to discriminate against females as some TW do.
If neither of those apply, what’s the problem?

Chewbacca Sun 17-Jul-22 18:17:14

There is an agenda to wilfully misunderstand, and misconstrue what is actually being discussed on these threads MollyGo and I'm of the opinion that they have their own reasons for doing so. Could be a lack of understanding or comprehension as to what the concerns are, or it could be just an unwillingness to accept that the rights of women have been significantly eroded so that a small minority of men "can channel their inner feminine souls". Neither needs to have much heed taken of them.

FarNorth Sun 17-Jul-22 18:22:33

Trying to make everyone pretend that they have become something impossible, i.e the opposite sex, really isn't working well.
I can understand why that seemed like the solution , many years ago.
Now that everyone is so 'woke' it's time that trans people owned their reality of being trans.
