Hi Shosana, I live in London too but came down to a friend’s house in Whitstable to escape the heatwave. After a few lovely days I felt a bit rough and tested positive for Covid.

soop's kitchen? imagine someone has opened up their (huge) kitchen. probably an aga, def the back door left open, and a big notice on the gate saying come on in. when you go in there are several sqishy sofas to sit on and people chatting away. you can join in the chat or just earwig. (listen in.) if you "take" a plate of brownies you'll be loved for life, but someone might make you a cup of tea or direct you to a glass of wine, or even suggest you take a wander in the garden to peruse the roses.
so. well. it's purely imagination of course. if it sounds like a big waste of time then there you have it. if it sounds like a friendly an comforting thing to do with a spare few minutes or more, then head right in.

Supergranuation I have been with soop's kitchen almost since it started and I "know" quite a few of the contributors and have also met a few in London for coffee or lunch. Perhaps if you stay in the wings and read for a few days you may see how it unravels. We do say daft things such as there is shortbread in the kitchen for all to try but people are really kind and sympathetic and some have been really ill, including soop who runs it.

I was supposed to be meeting another GN at Oxford Street on Friday but I could not tolerate buses and tubes in this heat so we have postponed it. The joys of retirement.
