Good Morning Thursday 14th July 2022
(45 Posts)Good morning from a hazy E Kent. It’s going to be another hot day.
It sounds like you’ve got some fun times to look forward to, Mick. I hope you enjoy your London trip today.
Had a quiet day yesterday. Have to get used to solitary meals, now that DS feels able to go off travelling. He’s gone to Bristol to see the girls, and has another two short holidays before he leaves in three weeks’ time.
I’m meeting a friend this morning, we’re planning a walk along Deal seafront. She has been wonderfully supportive these last few months.
Hope Miss Marydoll feels more settled today, the kalu DH keeps improving and those I have missed have a good day. Carpe diem. ????❤️
Good morning from a sunny Torbay with a welcome breeze!
It’s good that you have a friend to support you as adjustment to solitary living becomes a reality, grandMattie. The kindness you’ve shown to others is being returned. Reasons to go out each day can be a help, too.
Enjoy your trip to the show, Mick! Keep cool! ?
This morning, I’m at Paignton Palace Theatre for a singing workshop. It’s a series of six free sessions over 12 weeks, funded by Torbay Council as part of their Ageing Well programme.
Have a good day, everyone! ?????
Good morning everyone ?
Please forgive me for sneaking in to ask a favour please.
If anyone reading is in touch with Germanshepherdsmum, please would you pm me?
Thank you ever so much.
Wishing everyone a pleasant Thursday x ?
Good Morning Mick hope you have a good time in London, I went to Heythrop as part of a Corporate day many years ago, it will be interesting to see it as a Hotel, it’s not too far away from us.
A cloudless blue sky in Oxfordshire, I could get used to this!
Enormous shop arriving today, 3 dozen cakes to be made and iced. Then I can’t do any more until tomorrow when I have an action packed day, baking, cooking decorating the garden and outdoor eating area. Thankfully I have my list!
MzOops and the Oopsies arriving late tonight along with the dog, so beds to do as well.
GM lovely to have supportive friends
Hope Marydoll is feeling a little better today.
Have a good day everyone and hugs for those who aren’t feeling so chipper.
Fanny I haven’t seen GSDM around for a while, I hope she is ok.
Not sure how the D got in there.
Morning all from a sunny S Hants. Enjoy your trip to London Mick.
Voluntary phones today after I’ve run granddaughter to a local theme park, it’s a school trip, not sure why there’s no coach, I’ll ask my daughter.
Changing times gMattie take care.
Enjoy today all ??
Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudless corner of Somerset.
Off for a wander today, Lyme Regis perhaps. Fancied a change of scene.
Enjoy your trip mick, we’ll also have plenty of water with us. Go gently gm. Another hope that marydoll is feeling a little more robust.
Take care everyone. Hope Thursday is kind to us all.
Good morning from a bright and sunny Black Country.
Lovely family get together last night for DGD's 18th, had photo's of her with me and Mum (her Great Nan). Seems only yesterday she was a toddler. She is off on holiday today with a friend.
Oooh cornergran we love Lyme Regis. Went for the first time last year, and going again in August. Our caravan is stored in Somerset, so we drive down to get it out of storage, off to the Glastonbury Extravaganza, then to Lyme Regis on the Sunday. You are so lucky to live in such a lovely area.
Good to see you Fanny
Wishing you all a good day. Hoping Marydoll is feeling better, and thoughts are with you grandMattie
Good morning all from what was a sunny Glasgow a few minutes ago, its now cloudy. As long as it stays dry for the washing, that's all that matters, I ve given up hope of a decent summer!
Nothing much planned today, apart from cooking a proper meal for Mr Mdoll. The restaurant here has been downgraded to a 1⭐, due to me being unable to stand at the stove for any length of time and even more so, I basically couldn't be bothered! ?
My spirits are high, but I'm still suffering a lot of pain, it's so debilitating and frustrating. I had so many plans. Nothing will change, until I have the endoscopy. The damage has alreay been done. Its not knowing the extent, which is worrying me. ?
I don't know why I didn't end up in A&E yesterday with a heart attack. My dainty, doll like DGD is fearless. I thought taking her into the garden would burn off some energy. How wrong I was.
I went into the kitchen for something and came out to find the Duracell bunny had climbed up and was swinging like a monkey from the bars of the swing. She is fearless and seems to have no concept of danger.
Eventually I coerced DH and SIL into playing boules with us, thinking that would calm her down. She kept winning! So competitive like her daddy.
I have so many happy memories of playing boules in the evening, on the riverbank in Lyons, when I studied there about ten years ago.
She then refused to go home, when her parents came to pick her up. DS1 was not at all amused.
Once they left, I took myself into the conservatory and promptly fell asleep!
What a tonic she was. DH said he had never met anyone before, who could out talk me. I couldn't get a word in.
The plumber arrived at 8am, so you can imagine the chaos, especially as Dollie insisted on Scotch pancakes for breakfast.
I now have a leak free bathroom, no more dripping taps and a spanking new shower, after months of trying to find a plumber!
My cup runneth over! ?
Sending my very best wishes to all who are struggling. There are so many of our gran, who have such a heavy burden to carry. ? I can't seem to keep up at the moment.
GM, glad to hear of your day out. Good friends are priceless.
I have read all the posts, so I may be back later!
Good morning all from Polmont where it's 13° and cloudy. Lots of trips happening on the thread!
Yesterday I visited mum and my aunt and uncle. Mum is getting quite forgetful.
Today I am going to prep my front door for painting. I might do an undercoat of white to cover up the dark red. I was going to do it yesterday but it rained prodigiously at times. Have a good day all.
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a cool cloudy South Yorkshire - at the moment anyway. Good to see you are feeling better, Mick and have plans to travel. My car is being collected for a service this morning so I shall be Shanks’ pony if I want to go out today, but I’m not planning to go very far. I had a very productive few hours clothes shopping yesterday with DD, and a nice lunch afterwards.
Another here who loves Lyme Regis, Corner! Find me a fossil please! One old fossil deserves another!
Have the best day you can folks.
Good morning all - overslept today! Another lovely blue sky but the forecast suggests the temp might be a degree or two lower so it might be fresher (but I’m not holding my breath)
Yesterday I went to the William Morris house which is 10 minutes walk from D’s house to look at sone lovely things while she took Remy to Mother and Baby singing class then we met for lunch at the Vestry House Museum in the Village . D2 and SIL were married at the Vestry House Museum 6 years ago, so it was quite nostalgic. Home later today to release Rosie from kennels. I’m will be glad to get her home before it gets any hotter. Wish I could stay longer as a extra pair of hands for D but I am truly zorsted!
Wishing you all a peaceful and pleasant day. Enjoy your musical, Mick - at least the coach and theatre will be air conditioned!
Me? I’m going home via the freezer aisles in Waitrose!
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Weather looking ok. We even had a few spots of rain yesterday.
Your plans are panning nicely Mick
Unfortunately my plans went awry yesterday. DMiL felt very unwell just after we had ordered lunch at the seaside café and so I left half the party there and drove her home where she slept and by evening was recovered enough to take a little food and watch the TV.
Luckily we were in 2 cars so the others managed to enjoy the outing.
Her doctor is going to call today but at 97 we take a day at a time. She has her son living with her.
Today I'm taking my cousin for an outing. I hope we have no adventures.
Thoughts are with gMattie and all those with worries just now.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cloudy and a bit cooler. We’ve not had any rain for quite a while but when does arrive it probably won’t stop
Today I’ll be enjoying pottering in the garden again, the time goes really quickly and I enjoy it out there
Good luck with all that baking Oops a busy time ahead! ?
Dollie sounds such a lovely character marydoll - such a chatterbox
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s a blue sky day.
I plan to weed the front garden this morning and if I get on and make a start I can do most of it in some shade. I’ll plonk my hat on though all the same.
Things are very different Mattie. We went to Deal for my 60th so can imagine your walk today so I hope you have a pleasant one.
My thoughts to all ???
Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.
Taking advantage of the coolness before the heat comes back tomorrow. Coffee with friends in a local pub garden this morning and a walk with another friend and her dog this afternoon.
I bought and repotted a beautiful blue hydrangea yesterday, does anyone have tips on how to keep it blue?
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Good morning all from North Leicestershire where it is beginning to feel sticky.
More admin and forward planning today. And calming my sil down as my db's memory lapses are getting her down.
Good morning from sunny Colchester. Not going to be as hot here as of late. I am sitting in an almost empty lounge waiting for carpet fitters to arrive. I am using the opportunity to have a good sort out of the "stuff" I removed from cupboards, drawers and surfaces.
Probably get a takeaway tonight.
Love to all ?x
A beautiful blue sky and sunny morning again. DH has gone off to take dog along the river while it is still cool enough, no doubt a swim will be enjoyed by the dog.
My DD1 is struggling with the high temperatures, the effects of chemo and steroids are cumulative and with only 3 sessions left, she's finding life difficult. Her treatment started in January, so it's been a long time.
I have adjusted my working hours and start at 7 which means I finish mid afternoon, which is great in this lovely weather.
I hope you all find happiness and contentment today.
Glorious sunny morning sunny and a perfect temperature but no plans to do much though there is some overdue brass and silver cleaning which could be tackled before it gets too hot to do anything at all over the weekend. I do feel the heat in a way I never used to - another downside of being 80 I guess.
Delighted to read of plans for trips, of life enhancing GDs and of marathon baking sessions and am impressed by such energy - and envious too!
Chrissielou ? for your daughter.

??for your DD, Chrissielou. Chemotherapy is horrible but necessary, sadly.
