Following on from the thread about your partner’s most annoying habit, confess your own.

I think mine is that I will always put the opposing point of view even if I don’t agree with it.

Being in such a hurry to contribute to the conversation (read: express my own opinion) that I tend to interrupt people.

This bad habit became much worse, during and after lockdown, when for weeks at a time I only had DH and the cat to talk to.

The cat rarely interrupted me - usually only at feeding time, and DH interrupts constantly (so it is his fault I started doing so too, to get a word in edgeways, but being a teacher probably did not help either.)

That's me as well - a lot of the time, I worry that if I don't say something straight away, I'll forget what it was!!

being blunt apparently

Skyblue2 Sun 17-Jul-22 20:56:05

Being extremely calm when anyone gets upset or throws a wobbly. My usual response being ‘did someone die’!

JACQUE100 Sun 17-Jul-22 20:24:23

Omg
And I thought it was only me!!!!

MissAdventure Sun 17-Jul-22 20:19:13

Oooh lateness!
That annoys me, but then my mum would arrive an hour early, and that annoyed me, too!

Grandma600 Sun 17-Jul-22 19:56:10

I am always late. Ýes, I know it's rude and inconsiderate. My friends are saints

Impatience
Bossiness
Sneezing multiple times
Being unable to frame an intelligent question - cos I always know the answer..
.....being a smartass

Untidyness. I'm awful about putting things away - except, oddly, in the kitchen where I do put all the stuff I use to cook and eat away - but not the detritus that accumulates on the table.

Nannagarra Sat 16-Jul-22 23:46:24

Overthinking - all the family pick me up on this.
Catastrophizing.

henetha Sat 16-Jul-22 23:15:04

Interrupting people. I know I do it and I try not to, yet I still do it.
My brain races on to the end of their sentence and opens its big mouth before I know it.

Finishing people sentences

One of mine is that I can be thinking about something and forget it's not a discussion out loud - so all of a sudden I'll say to whoever I am with 'I think I might get a green one instead' leaving them thoroughly confused.

Also my mind can wander a bit when I'm supposed to be listening to someone. Mr A was once giving me the lowdown on changes to his pension scheme when I got distracted by a fly buzzing at the window. When asked for my opinion I blurted out 'what do you suppose flies think when they come up against a pane of glass?'

AreWeThereYet Sat 16-Jul-22 20:53:11

teachers would say "don't you look at me like that" when I really wasn't

? With me it was DM - all my teenage years she seemed to be saying to me 'And you can take that look off your face' when she was telling me off - no matter how hard I tried to look sorry or keep a neutral expression I apparently had that look on my face

grannypiper Sat 16-Jul-22 20:34:55

The internet is not big enough to list mine

Wasting time on the iPad at night when I’m tired. Would be better off reading or knitting

hollysteers Sat 16-Jul-22 19:56:16

It’s never my fault…
Aeons ago, drinking too much, practically teetotal now.
Procrastination
Turning a blind eye to domestic/practical matters.

ShazzaKanazza Sat 16-Jul-22 19:52:07

My DH would probably say it annoys him how I do myself down all the time and I can’t relax I’m like a meerkat always on the lookout.

VioletSky Sat 16-Jul-22 18:12:27

I say exactly what I think...

I can't help it

If I try to put things nicely it just comes out sounding a bit false.

I think I am lucky that I generally don't think anything horrible.

It's good with people who know me well but bad for people who suspect hidden depths or meanings in others lol

The only exception is that I will keep people's privacy I guess that just overrules my brain to mouth connection somehow

MrsKen33 Sat 16-Jul-22 17:58:36

My over calm nature has irritated two partners believe it or not smile. I think it may be true because it irritates my sister too ! Things just go over my head !

lixy Sat 16-Jul-22 15:57:54

Needing to do last minute jobs as we leave the house - check the doors are locked, put cleaner in the loo. He stands on the drive and taps the keys.

I have managed to stop biting my nails though, and am trying really really hard to be a better passenger!

Dee1012 Sat 16-Jul-22 15:43:48

My face!
All through school, teachers would say "don't you look at me like that" when I really wasn't and it's continued through life, actually getting me in some uncomfortable situations.

MissAdventure Sat 16-Jul-22 15:34:12

MrsKen33

Impatience, so my DH and DD say.

I once got out my screwdriver and hammer, then found my daughter had taken herself off and was hiding underneath her bed. smile
