Good Morning Everyone,
Looking like the start of another hot day.
Reflecting back to my show trip Tina the musical , theatre was about 80% full .
But the journey back was bad news , going out on Western Avenue , prior to Hanger Lane , it was cones and lane closers, the westbound underpass was closed so we went towards Wembley , only tot urn on the circular towards signposted M4 , got on M4 /M25/M40 , the M40 had speed limits plus cones , eventually getting home at 0130 yesterday morning .
Today an easy day inn the heat watch cycling on TV ,and maybe a Chinese later .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning Mick, your journey sounds like a real mystery tour! How frustrating for the driver too.
Very early dog walk then pulling up carpet today as flooring going down Monday and Tuesday! My lovely carpenter asked if he could come then as will be too hot for other job next week. So looking forward to having new flooring, not looking forward to all the prep work this weekend……
Hope you all have a lovely weekend x

Good morning from a warm E Kent. It is due to be reasonable - as long as that lovely northerly breeze carries on. No such luck in the next few days!
I had a lovely day yesterday. My tai-chi friend’s husband put up my key lock, then he dropped us off in Deal for lunch. A delightful baby and her mum sat at the next table and we played with the extremely friendly 11 month old. Went home on the bus - this one went all round and took nearly an hour up instead of about 25 minutes. Pretty country side though.
Quiet today. Trying to plan meals for when the family comes on Monday and Tuesday - one carnivore, four vegetarians of which one does eat fish, two very fussy children… nightmare.
Thank you Marydoll, it will be Carpe horam in future. ????

Morning all from West Oxfordshire, I’m still in bed - it’s only 6 am! I’m sad not to be going to London today to see my daughter sing, but it’s just going to be too hot to be outside for two hours. There is a local history society thing going on in the village today and tomorrow involving an exhibition of old photos, the digging of a test pit and a talk by someone who has done a lot of archeological work here. OH and I will toddle along to that. If the heat becomes unbearable we can simply go home.

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where the sun’s just up. Another fine day is forecast. I slept well having had a solid 8 hours. It’s the birthday weekend for our Boy Wonder who will be 10y. Which I just cannot believe. I was still working full time when he was born and remember the phone call from our son in law as though it were yesterday.

He’s having a 6-a-side football party in the local leisure centre this afternoon and I’ve offered to make the sandwiches for all the hungry boys. His mum has everything else organised. She told L’il Miss they could both be cheerleaders.
“Can I wear make up?”
“Absolutely not!”. (Nice try sweetheart. YouTube has a lot to answer for).
?
Have a good Saturday all who can. x

Gingster Sat 16-Jul-22 06:34:22

Good morning and I’m up early …again!!!!!!!.

We won’t be doing much or going anywhere far this weekend. Happy to stay in and read and Dh will watch the golf on tv.

It’s dil’s birthday today so after taking the dog on an early walk in the cool and shopping , we’ll take round her card and present.

Take care in the heat everyone. ?

Good morning, Michae and all GNs from an already sunny South Yorkshire. With the aid of various pillows tucked around various places, I slept quite comfortably last night and the back feels a bit better today. I’m reasonably upright anyway and don’t need the stick. DD and her boys came over last evening and we had an Indian takeaway. Not sure what I will do today, depends on how mobile a end up being, but at some point this weekend I need to do some shopping or I’ll starve (not true!).
Welcome Mummytummy, or should I say “G’day”?? your weather sounds positively balmy!
Have a good day, one and all.

Kalu Sat 16-Jul-22 06:57:59

Good morning all from a cool start in Glasgow with a pleasant 18deg forecast later on.

Looking forward to both GDs spending the day with us as the girls are anxious to see Grampa now he is settled back home. GD1 will request another driving lesson with DD2 no doubt and GD2 and I will get on with her favourite task at Granny’s, firing up the incinerator to burn the mountain of cardboard in the garage. ?. The plan is to have dinner with us before going home but more than likely they will decide to stay overnight. ?

Have a good weekend all and hoping those still struggling have a better day.

Ashcombe Sat 16-Jul-22 06:59:31

Good morning all from a sunny Torbay with just a gentle breeze and a high of 21 degrees forecast which is a relief.

After the blood test, I walked over the Downs to our recently adopted local for a coffee, The Royal (see photo). Like many places, the grass is parched and recently some idiots set fire to some undergrowth on the cliffs but it was soon brought under control. You can see the scorched area in the second photograph.

Tonight I am on duty at our theatre as a Front of House steward for our visiting G & S Society who have been performing The Mikado all week. I understand it goes on until 10.45 p.m so a late night in prospect! However, such lettings produce income for our company and produce a healthy profit in the bar!

Belated anniversary greetings, nannytopsy, and I can imagine how proud you must have been of GD4, starring as Matilda, Gingster! Brilliant!

Have a good weekend and keep cool! ?????

Good morning from Northumberland where I am packing to go home.
Yesterday we got soaked to the skin on Holy island and the castle was closed after we hiked all the way there, there were a lot of hacked off tourists as there was no information until you reached the entrance.
Have a good weekend.

Grandmabatty Sat 16-Jul-22 07:26:02

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently a cool 8°! It hasn't been that low for a while. Beautiful blue skies too. Mick sounds like a dreadful journey home. I bet you were glad to get to bed. Grey duster I must have missed something. Did you fall? Whatever has happened, I hope you recover quickly. Ashcombe wild fires take hold frighteningly fast, don't they?
Yesterday I came back from the chiropodist to find dd and the boys waiting for me. We spent a lovely afternoon inside and out in the garden after the rain stopped.
Today I'm meeting a friend for breakfast. Then haring home to buy cakes for visitors this afternoon. My aunt and uncle are dropping in on their way home from Lauder in the borders and dd and the boys are coming down to see them too. Dgs1 will be thrilled as they will have their caravan. Have a good day all.

Good morning all from the Black country lovely and sunny again.
Just finished watering the garden, will now think about preparing usual full English. Small local shop then find a nice shady spot to read my book and pass a few hours.
Friends arriving later and we will take a stroll over to the club.
Enjoy your Saturday whatever your plans and may you all find some ?.

Beechnut Sat 16-Jul-22 07:35:05

Good Morning everyone from a warm and sunny Severnside.
I did a late wash of towels yesterday and pegged them out overnight hoping they would dry and not go stiff. They are still a bit damp so I’ll have to leave them for a while.

Beechnutella is coming over today. I am making a fish pie. I usually do one when she comes over. I do have a favourite one but like to find new ones every now and again. Today’s will be a pasta one. Then we’ll try my lavender ice cream ?

Take things steady all of you with the weekend heat. That’s a Beechnut weather warning ???

Pittcity Sat 16-Jul-22 07:41:05

Good morning from sunny Colchester. 24°forecast today which is just right. DH put up our pop up gazebo for shade yesterday with table and chairs underneath. We ate al fresco.
DD and two DGSs popping over this afternoon, so I dare say we'll eat outside again.
Love to all ? x

BlueSapphire Sat 16-Jul-22 07:43:15

Good morning every from a sunny warm Northampton, 15° already.

A lazy morning, and then this afternoon off to see elder DGD perform in her stage school's annual show; hope the theatre is air conditioned!

Take it easy today everyone, and have a lovely day.

Gwenisgreat1 Sat 16-Jul-22 07:44:04

Good morning all from sunny Harrogate
You certainly did a tour of the Motorways Mick so today you rest.
Greyduster hope you feel better soon*
Yesterday went to another fund raising function at DGDs school this was an outdoor function. DD was in charge of selling childrens books so DGD selected those ones she wanted when at my house. Strangely enough toys and book have a habit of sneaking from our house to hers!!
Have the best day possible folks

Good morning all from South Lanarkshire where it’s 10* and cloudy. I’m looking forward to to a warmish day.

DD & family are heading north on holiday later but are dropping the children at ours this morning while they get organised. I’m so looking forward to seeing them all.

After that I’m hoping to sit in the garden with my book.

Welcome mummytummy smile

Thinking of those who are under par for whatever reason. Have the best day possible everyone. ?

A beautiful morning; Oxfordshire once again bathed in lovely sunshine. I've already walked over the fields for 90mins with the dog, many hares, pheasants and partridges up and about. Happy dog and happy me. Now sitting in the garden with a coffee, watching the red kites soar and listening to the birds singing. At this moment, all right in my world smile
Wishing you all peace and contentment today.

Good morning from a warm and sunny Leicestershire.

My birthday present arrived yesterday. I think Nankate mentioned this artist so I went on his site and ordered a dragonfly. Hopefully I can upload a picture. It is so beautiful.

Nothing much today except getting ready for a few days away next week.
Welcome mummytummy your weather sounds perfect.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.

dragonfly46 Sat 16-Jul-22 07:57:09

Try again.

NannyJan53 Sat 16-Jul-22 07:57:14

Good morning from a lovely bright and sunny Black Country.

Just back from filling car with petrol. I always put some in when the gauge is on 1/4. It used to cost £30 to fill, now I put £40 in and it still was only just over 3/4's! shock

Driving over to fetch Mum this afternoon, so she can have a BBQ with us. I will ring her later this morning as she has bound to have forgotten! We BBQ'd Sea Bream last night, it was very tasty.

Cannot believe we are all hoping for rain soon, but the garden is very dry.

Wishing you all a day of smiles and love

NannyJan53 Sat 16-Jul-22 07:57:54

Enjoy your holiday NanKate

Good morning all from Glasgow, as Kalu days, a cool and cloudy Glasgow.

A warm welcome to mummytummy.

Mick, well done to your bus driver for getting you home safely. Every road around here seems to have roadworks.

Kalu, we have a mountain of cardboard, left over from the plumbing work, which necessitates a trip to the tip and all the palaver it entails.
Could I please make an appointment to come up the road and burn it in your incinerator, my dear friend? It would be so much easier than braving the tip! ?

Talking of plumbers, Our plumber was working across the road at the Ebay queen's yesterday, then DS1's FIL from next door, grabbed him too and asked him for a quote.
Later she messaged me to say, that the plumber mentioned that he thought our cul de sac was like Two Doors Down, where everyone looks after each other. DH and I were Eric and Beth and the Queen was Kathy. It did make me laugh. It's probably quite accurate and we lived in a house exactly like theirs, when we lived in Troon.
At least he didn't think I was Christine !?

I plan to do absolutely nothing today, apart from some pottering in the garden.
.Yesterday, I thought I would sneak out, when DH was golfing and the Health police were at work, to get rid of charity bags, which were cluttering up the house and annoying me. My car hasn't moved for weeks and I was worried the battery would drain, so off I went. However, I was spotted by one of the police from the golf course. It serves me right for having a yellow car!
I know my family are just looking after me, but I'm beginning to feel quite smothered.?
I didn't even go into TKMaxx next door, I felt so exhausted. Something is definitely afoot, when I give that shop a miss.
At least I could justify lying in the conservatory all afternoon doing nothing, but watch my Turkish dramas!

Hope the DD's are having a gentle day and all, who have mountains to climb, don't struggle too much.
Greyduster, hoping your back has settled down.
Have a lovely day, whatever your plans.
