Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Sunny start here. Community café today and I've promised to help set up as others are on holiday. It's nice to feel useful although my 3 hours on the busy till yesterday was a bit much. It's a café and a shop. This volunteering lark is not for the fainthearted.
I've been invited to a barbecue this evening if I'm still awake
Lovely photosAsh but a shame about the stupid firestarters.
I'm so glad your friends are caring for you grandMattie and that you have DH home Kalu
Keep cool everyone. Welcome to mummytummy if you are new here.

Good Morning Saturday 16th July 2022
(51 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Looking like the start of another hot day.
Reflecting back to my show trip Tina the musical , theatre was about 80% full .
But the journey back was bad news , going out on Western Avenue , prior to Hanger Lane , it was cones and lane closers, the westbound underpass was closed so we went towards Wembley , only tot urn on the circular towards signposted M4 , got on M4 /M25/M40 , the M40 had speed limits plus cones , eventually getting home at 0130 yesterday morning .
Today an easy day inn the heat watch cycling on TV ,and maybe a Chinese later .
Take Care,
Mick
Morning Mick, morning All. A clear, bright start to our corner of Somerset
An unplanned visit to our Littlest and his minders for a couple of hours this afternoon before they fly away in holiday. There is apparently great excitement. As the motorway, our primary escape route, is likely to be more than busy by lunch time we’ll toddle off this morning. There’s an handily placed air conditioned shopping centre on the way good for a wander and some lunch. Like Mick’s coach suspect we’ll return via a ‘scenic’ route. Never mind, good to catch up. The summer traffic can be a real down side here.
That’s a very pretty local ash. Good luck with the meal planning gm, I’d struggle with that mix. Ouch greyd. No more weight lifting please! Take it easy today although best to keep moving if you can. There are some talented grandchildren around, well done to them all.
Rest those who need to, stay cool if you can everyone, special thoughts to poorly people, heat can be difficult to manage. Hope Saturday is kind to us all.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cloudy but dry. Yesterday we had a bit of drizzle and rain but it didn’t last for long
That sounds like a nightmare journey mick but pleased you’re home safely.
Today a bit of shopping including a trip to the garden centre as the sale has just started - best get the boot emptied before we go!
A stunning dragonfly dragonfly what a lovely birthday present
Hope you’re feeling better soon greyduster
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?
No Grandmabatty I didn’t fall. I had a shower and then got down to clean the shower tray and found I couldn’t get up again. All very undignified! I thought about calling the fire brigade, but I didn’t think it would be a good idea as I was totally déshabillé (Hmm! Dunno though?!).
Good morning from an already sunny Essex by the sea. We are forecast a very hot few days.
The beach, about two minutes walk from here, will be very busy this weekend. The main car park is being resurfaced and if it is like last Sunday there will be mayhem. People parking wherever they like including our private car park.
We are going into town shortly then home to some ironing and probably a walk to the beach.
Have a lovely weekend everyone and stay safe in the sun xxx
Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. I really envy you grans who live right by the sea.
mummytummy? To you in Perth. Have a good day.
I love picture of your ornament dragonfly
Chrissielou while I was languishing in bed you were on your long walk. That would set you up for the day.
Marydoll we love Two Doors Down. My Mum was heartbroken to have to get rid of her yellow car when we realised she was driving with a patch over one eye.
Today we are just preparing to go away tomorrow till Wednesday. Going on the train to London for 3 nights. ?If we hadn’t so much booked I think we’d have cancelled. DS said ‘please don’t over exert yourselves’. DD and SIL who lived in London said ‘go to Hyde Park buy lovely food and a bottle of Prosecco and have a picnic under a tree’
Enjoy your Saturday if you can. Enjoy all your activities. Virtual hugs for those coping with stress and illness.
??
Good morning everyone from a ? Co Armagh it’s 17* , so not too hot so far
I’ve an oversupply of cucumbers in the greenhouse but the tomatoes have improved from dots to pea sized , doubt we’ll be overwhelmed by them for a while
Dead heading the sweet pea is an ongoing job , I dot pick them for the house , I love the fragrance outside but can’t bear scent of them or other lovely things inside !
Wishing you all a best day and keep cool ?
A sunny good morning to all.
Firstly , thank you for the birthday greetings yesterday, I had a live day.
Love your dragonfly Dragonfly
Today , we have a food shop to do to replenish supplies after our holiday
I hope to get a birthday card painted for a friend before DGSs 2 & 3 arrive for a sleep over later this afternoon.
Kind thoughts to all struggling in. any way.
Take care and keep cool.
Grey duster goodness me! As dgs1 would say, "that's a catastrophe!"
Good morning from beautiful Anglesey, blue sky, slight sea breeze and bees buzzing around the lavender.
What a beautiful post Chrissielou, hope things remain that way for you.
Welcome tummymummy/Sue from Perth, not far from our son in Wannanup.
Birthday weekend wishes to young and not so young. Whether it’s footie or Zimmer frame races, have fun.
We have our Leicester family arriving later today to escape the heat so a fun week for us, woohoo, fire up the bbq.
???all round
Oops, meant mummytummy, welcome anyway.
Welcome Mummy Tummy-from a «lurker»
I had the brainwave (!) this week to send a cash gift to my French Goddaughter for her birthday on 13th. I already have a Moneygram account which I use successfully and easily at our local Post Office to send cash directly into someone’s account-easy peasy!
Huh! PO lady was harassed and set up cash payment instead of directly into GD’s account which I was showing her.
FT dear GD-her nearest Moneygram office is a long way away ? so back to local PO to cancel original payment ?
Today am going to try to do payment into GD’s account myself online. Started yesterday but it didn’t like the name of the bank-Caisse d’Epargne! So searched for them online to find they’re called Caisse-Epargne!!
You’re probably all dozed off by now! I will NOT be defeated and will have another go this morning! ?
it’s perhaps as well I don’t post very often!
Morning from S Lanarkshire where, suffice to say, we’re not panicking about the heat! Maybe later.
I particularly enjoyed Matt yesterday Urms, very clever!
A very enjoyable couple of days spent with DD4 this week hearing about all the fun she had at Disneyland Paris with DD5 and family, she loved being with the children.
A trip to the charity shop this morning with clothes which I like but have accepted I’ll not wear again, and then a visit to a friend to hear about her holiday in Tenerife with another friend, the first without her husband so a lot of talking/listening I suspect.
Welcome mummytummy and wishing everyone the best day possible ???
Morning all from a sunny S Hants at 19.
Greyduster big ouch, no more cleaning for you, may it heal quickly.
Welcome mummytummy.
I’m living with a Tigger this morning, MrJ is playing in a charity golf tournament today, can’t sit still.. He’s 60 next Wednesday, there’ll be ‘a bit of a do’ after golf in our local this early evening, he has no idea.
Have a lovely day all ??
Good morning Mick and all. It’s cloudy in my corner, currently 17°C.
That was a long day Mick, take it easy today.
Hope your back and better soon Greyduster, I have a long handled gadget for cleaning the shower so I don’t need to bend.
Online banking is so convenient Newquay but it is very fussy about having exact names!
Have a good weekend all, we are away all day tomorrow visiting family.
Good morning Mick and all from a cloudy northwest coast. Will take up a recovery position today as yesterday was all go. Art in the morning, run through with the band in the afternoon then an hours drive to exhibition opening, some of my artwork and my granddaughter who has inherited the gene. Trendy people, wine and a saxophonist playing. So thrilled to see my stuff on the wall with a stand of notelets of the same next to them. Something good came out of lockdown.
Very amused that our joker keyboard player, of indifferent health, has just had “Do not resuscitate” tattooed on his chest!
Thoughts to all with worries and hope you have as cool a day as you can.
Morning all! Jax that sounds exciting. I like a bit of a do!
I met Urmstongran in my dreams last night. She was very grumpy because I had discovered that she lives in Cornwall, not Urmston! Is anyone else still getting vivid lockdown dreams?
Rugby this morning then some gentle dead heading in the shade.
I hope the day is kind to us all.
Good morning from Durham. Not a cloud in the sky. More than slightly obsessed with hares, so magical to see lots Laura. Babysat last night for DD2, dropped her door key which miraculously fell between the decking planks, so locked myself and baby out! What a carry on! Will get a new key cut. DD2 says they’ll lift the decking to retrieve mine, but I’m not sure it’s worth all the hassle - that key is going nowhere!
Not sure what to do today. DD1 and family are off to the beach - I went with her last Sunday and it was heaving - well for the NE - our beaches are so huge, they’re never like pictures of further South shown on tv. Perhaps a garden centre visit with DD2 and baby sounds better. Early Italian tonight with BF.
Enjoy the weekend and if you’re out and about - Factor50.
Good morning from sunny Carnoustie. Weather sunny and warm washing about to go out in this fine weather. Not doing much today as I am dog sitting and too hot in the afternoon to take her out. Do not like to leave her in the house in this weather. So gardening reading grocery shop online and anything else that comes my way. Have a good day everyone.
Dragonfly love your garden sculpture ? My heron called Hero arrives just after our return from hols. YIPPEE.
Morning everyone, having a quiet day here as the temperature is rising and I don’t like the heat, so will read after I have made something for brunch. I don’t post often but always read your posts. Have a lovely day one and all.
Early trip to supermarket so that if it does get as hot as is threatened I can just sit it out in the semi dark of closed curtains. A dismal prospect but won’t be for long.
Just read posts - it’s Chrissielou who saw the hares - lucky lady.
Arrived in Chicago yesterday. We are here for 5 days so plenty of time to explore. Wishing everyone a peaceful day.
