Good Morning Everyone,
Its sunny here in brackley and showing 18c on my computer already.
Today, plan a small early shop , before doing some essential house chores .
I have noticed locally the heatwave as caused queing outside hospital A & E `s , plus bus service disruption ,and also effecting rail services as well .
Tour De France final rest day , mind you in the heat of France why is allowed to continue?
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning all, from a warm Torbay with no breeze so the open windows are making little difference. 14 deg currently but high of 25 is forecast.

I’m planning to go to my Move It or Lose It class at 1.00 p.m. as I’m sure our teacher will adjust the routines to allow for the heat. We always have chairs as some participants use them throughout.

Oops! Pressed wrong button!

My DGS2 (12) is off to a five day football camp this morning. His first real experience of a school residential as his Y6 one didn’t happen due to Covid restrictions.

Rehearsal tonight. DH is making progress with his lines as he learns the part of Le Clerc to rehearse with me on Zoom each day. He'll be here to attend rehearsals in person from the 26th.

Take it easy today, if you can! ?????

Morning all, 16 here in S Hants, as soon as MrJ is up I’ll be in the shower, then put the washing on.
We had a lovely meal in the New Forest yesterday with friends, just perfect.
Happy day to those with birthdays or anniversaries today ?
Stay safe and cool ??

Good morning all - well, ‘ere we go, ‘ere we go, ‘ere we go! ?
I have got so sick of the gloomy prognostications re the heatwave - I’ll be glad when the next two days are over!
The dog decamped to one of the spare rooms at the back of the house and I’ve had the fan on all night.
I’ll be glad to get back to normal!
No actual plans for today I think I’ve been “paralysed” by all the hype about the weather conditions.
With kind thoughts to all who are ill or with sadness clouding their lives I’ll just wish you all a pleasant day. ?

Good morning all from East Yorkshire. It is overcast and cool at the moment. Won’t stay like that though.

Back home now after our trip to the Netherlands. We had an amazing time at the Andre Rieu concert. Having watched them on TV it was interesting seeing it for real and also the locations. Once we had gone though checks to get in the square I was surprised how easy going it all was. But then the whole country seems the same. Yet it seems to run efficiently without problems ie the motorways etc. It was quite a refreshing change from the UK. We wouldn’t do the organised trip again . I’ll just leave it at that! We will be returning though at some point of our own accord. As our flight delay was 10 hours we are due for compensation
With KLM We can have this in the form of a voucher for another flight where the monetary value is worth more so we’ve opted for that.

Yesterday we went for a BBQ at our sons. It was lovely to see them. GS was his usual self and had come home with an excellent first year report from school. We are all so proud of him. He has done so well.

Today I will be staying cool and doing as little as possible. We are lucky to have found a tower style fan (an extra one) online that is coming today too.

Take care everyone.

Good morning from a cool (10 degrees) Oxfordshire, however as we know temp is due to rise, not to 40degrees as promised but a measly 37! Huh what heatwave?
I have the large paddling pool left from the Birthday party, all cleaned out, so I will sit in that later, as I did yesterday, it was quite lovely, with a drink and a book and I could blame my wrinkles on the cold water! What’s not to like?
All of the beds need changing after our weekend and lots of cleaning to do, but I will do it day by day rather than try to do it all at once.
For a change I don’t have a dog to walk at daft o’clock in the mornings, yet here I am up at 5.30….

Have a good day everyone, if you are like me, have your inhaler to hand, (I’ve needed mine a lot over the last couple of days) and stay cool ?⛱???

Ali23 Mon 18-Jul-22 06:40:46

Good morning everyone. Just woke up as DH went out for an early bike ride before the temperature soars. We’re going to meet at 9 for coffee, so I’m thinking of stripping the beds ... they should dry quickly!
I cut off two pairs of lightweight trousers yesterday and hemmed them to make long shorts. Not exactly flattering, but very comfy.
Not sure what the plan is for the rest of today, but the dog is staying in and keeping cool. Bless her, she is really struggling with the heat this year.

Take care, all. Thinking of those of you who are having struggles and sadness. ?

Good morning from a bright and coolish E Kent.
I had a much better night, having had an hour nap in the morning and two in the afternoon, yesterday!
We have some great news. You may remember DD fitting in an interview between visiting her dad? She’s got the job! It is now official, although we’ve known for about 4 weeks. We are all delighted for her. It’s a parish in the old Clifton, part of Bristol, about a Mike away from her present church.
DS and DD arrived late last night and SiL andDGDs will come tonight for tomorrow’s funeral. Haven’t seen them since April, so am really looking forward to seeing them all.
Carpe horam, my dear, dear virtual friends. ????❤️?

Good morning everyone from a very warm and sunny ?Northampton, 16°C outside. Have
some washing which I did yesterday evening to hang out shortly, once I have had my mug of tea. Did not sleep well last night, so may catch up this afternoon.

Yoga starts again this morning after a break of three months during which our teacher and family spent the time getting away from it all in Costa Rica. Be nice to see everyone again and also hear about Costa Rica.

Then home to do nothing except read the paper, do the puzzle pages, and continue with my new book which I started yesterday.

Take.care in the heat everyone and stay coooool...

grandMattie Mon 18-Jul-22 06:51:10

Mike. = mile…m?

Pantglas2 Mon 18-Jul-22 07:01:20

A very lovely good morning here in north Wales ? where all our windows are open and I can hear the traffic on the A55 as I sup my wakey wakey chamberpot ☕️ of tea ?. Haven’t found sleeping ? too difficult but our bedroom is east facing so is cooler than the rest of PG Towers at night!

A toddle off to Iceland for some provisions this morning- not a shop I normally use but they sent me a voucher £5 off £25 so appealing to my baser instincts (usually works..?‍♀️)

Hope grandmattie has a peaceful day before tomorrow’s challenges and the weather stays kind - I think that does help enormously ?

kittylester Mon 18-Jul-22 07:07:48

Good morning all from a sticky North Leicestershire.

Dh and I are both volunteering today. He is driving people to hospital for their radiotherapy appointments.
Thankfully the car has aircon. I am helping on a cognitive stimulation course for people with dementia. It is being held in a room in a residential home which also has aircon and, additionally, really good lunches!

Marydoll Mon 18-Jul-22 07:10:35

Good morning all from Glasgow, where its 15°C.

I have just found out that my empty has been cancelled! SIL has decided to work from home, as the main road at the end of our road has been closed. I'm not sure what we are meant to do, as it's the only way out.
I was so looking forward to some peace and quiet, as I wanted to speak with the cardiologist in private, without anyone listening in.

Yesterday's peaceful Sunday was ruined, when with no warning, tree surgeons arrived to chop down our neighbour's leylandii and build new fencing.
I was lying down, when were subjected to blaring music and the noise and fumes of chain saws all day. As a result, we couldn't use our garden and had to close the doors and windows all day. The house was stifling.
Our neighbours are our DIL's parents, so we said nothing, but were fuming, that they hadn't warned us about all the disruption and noise. No-one could park in our cul de sac, due to all the the number of workmen's vehicles, nor could our neighbours enjoy sitting in their garden.
DH had planned to power wash our driveway, but there was no-where to move our cars, so he was not a happy bunny.
Of course these things need to be done, but on a Sunday, with no advance warning? ?

Sorry about the rant, I just crave some peace and quiet and space to wallow in private, but it ain't happening any time soon!
I feel my home has been invaded by squatters. Only twelve days to go to Freedom day....I hope.

Wishing all those in the sick bay and their carers, a gentle day.
My thoughts to all, who are celebrating and safe journey to all, who are travelling.
My friend, who is cycling through Portugual and Spain, messaged me last night, saying he had cycled uphill to Santiago de Compostela in 40 °+ heat yesterday!! Now that's hot!!!?

Pittcity Mon 18-Jul-22 07:11:52

Good morning from sunny Colchester where the temperature is forecast to reach 31° this afternoon.
No plans except pottering and keeping cool.
Love to all ? x

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 18-Jul-22 07:11:55

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I will probably do an early Waitrose shop and then a pile of laundry. OH is playing croquet this afternoon - I assume wearing a large hat and with plenty of water to hand. He has lived in much hotter countries than this and people just carried on. I remember visiting my family in Australia and the children still went to school but in enormous hats. I had a terrible dream last night that I went to collect my granddaughter from school but couldn’t find her anywhere.

brook2704 Mon 18-Jul-22 07:21:49

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve some light white cloud with a forecast of about 25º today.
Congratulations to your DD gmattie and hope tomorrow goes as well as it can
We’re looking after DGS and DGD today, they’ve both got swimming lessons this morning and then we’ll be at the park with a picnic later, followed by an ice cream!
Hope everyone stays cool in the heat today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Greyduster Mon 18-Jul-22 07:27:17

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from an already very warm South Yorkshire. Spent most of yesterday in my cool living room. There was actually a breeze in the garden but it was a warm one! My back is taking its time getting better, and I’m anxious now as I’m supposed to be going away this weekend. I hope it will be a bit easier today. Ice packs seemed to help yesterday so I’ll try that today and to keep moving but I hadn’t planned for doing a lot of that either in this weather!! Well, folks have worse things to deal with.
Have the best day you can and stay safe!

cornergran Mon 18-Jul-22 07:31:32

Morning Mick, morning All from a hazy corner of Somerset

A quiet day yesterday, just a bit of garden and indoor pottering. Off to the beach for an hour before it warms up. 17 degrees at the moment, forecast 35 by lunch time. Our usual breeze has deserted us it seems.

Congratulations to your daughter grandmattie, will be thinking of you all tomorrow.

Hope Monday is kind to us all.

Grandmabatty Mon 18-Jul-22 07:34:19

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 18°and sunny. I'm not sure of how hot it is to get, it keeps changing upward. Grandmattie congratulations to your daughter.
Yesterday I did the top coats of paint on the front door and I'm pleased with the result. The house was full of flies though, as I had to keep the door open til it dried. All sorted now.
Today I have a very early hair appointment. After that, I'll hoover and wash the floors and potter. I don't think I'll see the family today. Have a good day all.

Beechnut Mon 18-Jul-22 07:35:05

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. A sunny start.

After much grumping to myself yesterday morning about having to get ready and go somewhere in the afternoon I found I had a really nice time. We sat indoors by the door to get some breeze and I learnt that a famous composer was part of the family. I shall check the family tree to see where as when I googled him I didn’t recognise his fathers name although his trade/s fitted.

I’m just pottering today and hope for the best.
Have the coolest day you can all ????

harrigran Mon 18-Jul-22 07:39:42

Good morning from the NE where it is hazy and 20 degrees already.
It is DIL's 50th birthday today, they are having a family day out, they are thinking of going to see Elvis so that they can sit in a nice air conditioned cinema.
Our family lunch was a great success and DIL was amused by her birthday cake which was delicious when cut, so much so that everyone accepted a second slice.
DD made it to the UK and surprised me by saying she is taking a two week holiday, she is her father's daughter he was a workaholic too.
DD and SIL are coming this morning to take me shopping, I have nothing in the fridge.
Stay cool ?

NanKate Mon 18-Jul-22 07:42:50

Good morning Mickand All.

The heat is building in the New Forest. Fortunately our little holiday cottage is pretty cool so far. Maybe drive to the local Garden Centre for lunch.

BlueBalou Mon 18-Jul-22 07:49:24

Good morning everyone, it’s a very warm start here in north Wiltshire.
I walked DDog at 5.30, it was lovely and cool so we enjoyed a meandering route of about 2 miles with a brief break to chase a ball in the shade under the trees.
She’s now snoozing, the carpenter laying the new floor is coming soon! We’re getting there!
Hope you all stay cool and rested x

ginny Mon 18-Jul-22 07:52:27

Good morning everyone.
Up early to get some jobs done before it get too hot.
First job is to deadhead flowers and sweep :
We had a busy weekend looking after DGSs 2&3. It was fun but tiring.

I’m out for lunch with two friend and hoping the restaurant has air conditioning.

Wishing you all a good day. Take care and keep cool.
