Something (to eat) that you hardly ever buy, because you know you’ll only make a pig of yourself?

Thought inspired by the fact that I just bought a packet of Garibaldi biscuits - I buy them maybe twice a year.

Another is blackcurrant jelly cubes, which I just eat. Twice a year if that.

(People with iron self control who have no idea what I’m talking about, need not reply, thank you!)

Scottish tablet. I can make it but I end up eating so much so I sometimes buy a little bag and try to ration it. It rarely works.

Peanut butter
Biscuits
Marsh mallows
And plenty of other things that I shouldn't buy, but do!

Pork pies. I often eye them longingly in the supermarket but I haven’t bought one for years.

Wine gums

Jelly Babies

Butterkist popcorn, especially the sweet & salty version.

I can just keep eating that forever, it doesn’t fill me up.

The downside is it gives me a really sore tongue, I’ve no idea why.

75% dark chocolate, single origin, Madagascan;
Jules Destrooper almond thins (wafer thin biscuits - crunch one, crunch a whole packet). Ironic that they are called 'thins'...

Jaffa cakes! I once bought a triple pack "because it works out much cheaper" and ate the lot in one day. I steer completely clear of them now.

Humus. Oh my goodness I can eat a whole tub and if I make my own it even doesn't get out of the processor into bowl.

Jelly babies , I eat them until I feel sick so avoid buying them . Been dieting for 4 weeks and have lost my appetite for sweet things which amazes me ! I had a real sweet tooth before.

Coconut ice!

Grandmagrewit Tue 19-Jul-22 11:47:54

It used to be Creme Eggs but I once ate a box of 6 in one go and still feel ashamed! Now it's Mozzarella cheese - I could easily eat 2 whole ones - in a panini with sundried tomatoes and the oil from the jar drizzled over. I blame it on misspent youth as a student in Italy more than 50 years ago. It was a very cheap lunch back then.

So refreshing to hear that Gransnet members are not all paragons of virtue!
Mumsnet is full of pious sorts who berate you for lack of self-control if you are overweight and then go on to tell you how they eat a 'massive salad' every day & run 50 miles per week.
My 'just can't stop' foods: good bread & Lurpak, cheesy biscuits, blue cheese & crackers.

Probably as a result of my 1950s childhood in Yorkshire-crusty bread covered in pork dripping and dusted with salt.

handbaghoarder Tue 19-Jul-22 11:54:40

Salt and vinegar crisps and Cadbury Dairy Milk ????

jerseygirl Tue 19-Jul-22 11:55:19

Oh, Espee! Why did you mention tablet? I was happily going to claim JellyBabies until I saw your post, & now I’m a drooling wreck!
