Good Morning from Severnside. Hot here like every where else.

Will be thinking of you and the family today Mattie. The garden flowers are lovely ?xx

ginny Tue 19-Jul-22 07:48:27

Good morning all. We didn’t feel too hot overnight. Windows wide open and will be closed soon as the sun is shining n the front of the house all day

My brother and SIL should have been coming today but have had to cancel as my Nephew , who has long term medical issues has an emergency hospital appointment. He is unable to drive so they will go with him.

We have DGS3 for a couple of hours so will amuse him indoors
This afternoon I intend to spend sketching and painting in my craft room which stays fairly cool.

? and thoughts wit Grandmattie and family .

Take care everyone .

Good morning everyone.

How beautiful GrandMattie. I will be thinking of you today, I’m glad that you have the family around you. flowers

My DH is showering at the moment with pre-op scrub that everyone ensures him will turn him orange? I don’t know if this happens everywhere but no one on here has mentioned it before. He’ll be fitting in another one later before he leaves for hospital at lunch time to have a hernia operation this afternoon.

There have been so many changes about the details and timing of this operation that we haven’t known if it would ever happen. Now it’s scheduled most inconveniently the day before DD and SiL have an early flight home.
Because DH has kept all the dealing with the hospital to himself,I woke up at 5am realising that I didn’t even have the number of the hospital on my phone. It’s going to be a long day I think.

I think we maybe are a bit cooler here than many in the UK. But sitting in a shuttered house isn’t good for anyone and I find my glaucoma difficult when I’m outside.

Sorry this is a tale of woe, DH hasn’t turned orange this time round.grin

I'm thinking of you GM and your family today, ?
Your flowers are a beautiful personal touch.x

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 19-Jul-22 08:02:50

Good morning all from sunny Harrogate - it’s 24 just now, going up to 38 when I am supposed to be having my procedure in hospital this pm.
My thoughts are with you today GrandMattie hope all goes smoothly.
Really doing nothing until my appointment at noon, I half expect to be contacted to say it’s been cancelled because of the heat.
Have the best day possible folks

aggie Tue 19-Jul-22 08:05:52

Good morning everyone, hazy sun at the moment and 19* , so very pleasant
Daughter has Mondays off work so it was full on gardening , we both love it , even though I’m mostly directing and suggesting .
A quick visit to the garden centre for fertiliser ended up with my walker conveying several plants to the till , plus some pots and seed packets , nearly forgot the fertiliser!
Of course we then had to find spaces for our purchases
The heat and the exertion were not a good combination but this morning it all looks great
Flowers from the garden is such a lovely thing grandMatie love and prayers for today xxx

harrigran Tue 19-Jul-22 08:07:48

Good morning from the NE where it is hazy at present.
Walked to the postbox just after 7am and the temperature was 23 degrees.
DD and SIL spent the day with me, we went shopping then spent the rest of the day in the garden under the parasol. We had a thermometer in the shade and it did exceed 37 at one point.
I am going to have a quiet day with my book, DD may come again if her first floor flat gets too warm and noisy, it overlooks a road with heavy traffic 24/7.
My thoughts are with you grandMattie, a difficult day for you and your family ?

GrannySomerset Tue 19-Jul-22 08:10:44

Thinking of gM on this difficult day and hoping all goes to plan. I have an early supermarket foray and WI tonight if I can summon up the energy but otherwise will spend the day keeping the sun out and looking forward to cooler weather soon.

Marydoll Tue 19-Jul-22 08:15:15

Hoping all goes well today for Mr Dustyangel and * Gwen*, today.

BlueSapphire Tue 19-Jul-22 08:18:00

Good morning everyone from a very sunny and hot Northampton, 25°C already outside.
I slept.downstairs on the sofa last night in front of the fan as it was roasting upstairs, and.opening the.bedroom windows made no difference. Shall do the same tonight.

Have a load of washing in, which I can hang out shortly and bring in before it gets too hot. No other plans for today, except a Sainsbury's delivery due in a few minutes.

Shall take it easy and read, do the crossword and perhaps nap.

Thoughts with grandMattie today, love the.rugby shirt and garden flowers. We had DH's wake at the premiership rugby club here, where we were both members. (I still am). Hope everything goes well for you and your family. flowersflowers

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 21° and rain is forecast. It's very gloomy out. Grandmattie I'm thinking of you and your family today. Best wishes too for Gwenisgreat.
Yesterday was a pottering day. I sat out a little but it was too hot for me. I can't begin to imagine what you are going through further south.
Today I might make it to Aldi but I can manage without. Have a good day all.

Mapleleaf Tue 19-Jul-22 08:28:39

Good morning all

Showing 26 degrees already. I enjoy summer weather, but not as hot as it’s going to become today. Already feel like a limp lettuce.

? grandMattie. My thoughts are with you and your family today.

Another fairly lazy day ahead I think. Just a few things to sort out.

Take care everyone and drink plenty of water.

My thoughts are with grandMattie today flowers

Urmstongran Tue 19-Jul-22 08:43:23

Here’s Matt.

Thinking very much of you this morning grandMattie. ?

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s very humid and ? already. I’m glad these highs aren’t forecast for all week. ??

We had a rubbish sleep. In the end after tossing and turning hoping for a cool bit of sheet we got up and made a brew and sat on our verandah where it was cooler at 1pm to drink it. If I could have put a mattress there I would have!

Lunch today with some ladies at a deli cafe just round the corner then picking the grandchildren up from school.

I’m a bit later posting as I’ve just disappeared down a rabbit hole on the internet. I was looking up Dolly Parton after watching a documentary on her the other night. Turns out her husband Carl Dean will be 80y old tomorrow! I love it when random timing in ‘looking something up’ reveals something unexpectedly timely like that don’t you?

Urmstongran Tue 19-Jul-22 08:44:21

Morning and thanks to Mick.

My thoughts to GM and family on this very sad day.Flowers from your family garden are a lovely moving gesture.?♥️

EkwaNimitee Tue 19-Jul-22 08:59:52

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle where it's about 22C and rising steadily. It was cloudy earlier and we had a useless little shower. Useless because I am going to have to go out shortly and douse the new plantings in the front, having done the back last night. I hope the neighbours won't be looking because I finally donned some shorts this morning!
I shall probably just potter gently through the day plus read my book. It's going to be too hot for ironing and vacuuming with a high of 32C forecast. While I do love a blue sky, the temperature has to be at least 10C lower for me.
Here's a horrifying thought for Scots....if southern summers are regularly ferociously hot, there may be mass emigration of English over the border!

Your flowers are beautiful grandMattie, it's lovely to have ones from your own garden for your DH. Shall be thinking of you and your family.

BlueBalou Tue 19-Jul-22 09:12:35

Good morning everyone, I hope you all manage to survive this heatwave somehow!
Very much thinking of GM and those of you with health problems etc.
I am not coping with this heat at all ?, it’s already 30°here in Wiltshire, nothing I can do about it I know other than hoping it breaks soon!
Hopefully the flooring will be completed today, I love it (needless to say DH doesn’t!), then if it’s cooler tomorrow I can get everything back in place.
Doing as little as possible today.
