Happy Birthday Prince George. ? ? ? ? ?
The lovely grin says it all.

I don't think kindness should be reserved for those who are considered to be underprivileged. What sort of people would we be if we chose which children to be kind to and which not?

Casdon Sat 23-Jul-22 13:22:03

PS congratulations on the birth of your granddaughter Fernhillnana. ?

Maybe we should reserve the kindnesss for the millions of children who live in families where a holiday is a distant dream and not this child who has several holidays every year .This overprivileged boy doesn't know we exist and cares even less .Save your good will for the ones who may not even get a decent meal a day once schools close for summer in England !

Maybe we should be kind to all children paddyann54. I’m not in favour of only being kind to some, whoever they are.

Baby granddaughter Freja was born yesterday so I won’t forget George’s birthday. (My parents were called George and Charlotte so I won’t forget their names either !).

Why is Gransnet becoming so mean ? The lovely picture of Prince George has provoked a discussion about private jets for Royals, please can’t we just have some kindness ?

Dogs are not allowed on Tresco? ?

The royals stay with Robert and Lucy Dorrien-Smith at the Abbey on Tresco when they go there so I guess they can take dogs if they want to. Pretty sure the no-dogs rule only applies to the holiday lets.

I wonder how the Cambridges will get to Balmoral now? hmm

Well, Maddy, I seem to remember that William was a helicopter pilot in his military career and while he was working with the Air Ambulance. I'm sure they could install a helipad at Balmoral if there isn't one there already.

Joseanne Fri 22-Jul-22 21:06:14

Yes, it's an interesting topic. I think the National Trust owns quite a few nice islands too.

Casdon Fri 22-Jul-22 20:58:20

I think you’ll find there are loads of privately owned islands in the UK though Joseanne, and I’m sure many pass from one generation to the next, it’s not just a royal thing - but it is a fascinating subject in its own right. I didn’t know that anybody, wherever they live in the world can buy a UK island. This is quite informative. Not that it has anything to do with George’s birthday, sorry I got distracted.

But Charles didn't have to buy it. He inherited it with the title!

Charles owns an island?

Jings...

We could club together and buy a Gransnet island, with Oaul McCartney as our neighbour. It’s scarily easy.

I think it is Dolphin House merlotgran and owned by Prince Charles, as is the island itself if I am not mistaken.

Dogs are not allowed on Tresco? ?

Dogs and other pets are not permitted in Tresco accommodation, so if you are staying there you can't take your dog. W & K did.
I think you can take them for a day out if you are staying on one of the other islands

Oh well. he only has to wait until Charles becomes King and then he can do what he wants. I presume wherever they're staying belongs to the Duke of Cornwall?

MissAdventure Fri 22-Jul-22 19:29:48

I thought they used a private jet to Jordan.

And yet we don't know how they got to Jordan. I don't think Flybe go to Jordan. Maybe they hitch-hiked.

I don’t know how they got to Jordan volver so can’t help you there.

Flybe was a sad loss to me. I used to fly up from the south coast to Manchester to see family, and I could quickly get to Cheshire to the family from Manchester airport.

I also saw a picture of the Cambridges all getting into a helicopter last week, as they set off for their holidays. They also travel together in the same car.

Yes, they're down here on the Isles of Scilly apparently. See the beautiful white sand behind George.
I was a bit miffed that the dog went too on the helicopter, especially when Tresco where they stay is an island which does NOT allow dogs!

And they all went together to Balmoral (saw the pics.)

Royal protocol states that two or more heirs to the throne should never travel together, but the Cambridges travelled with George and Charlotte to Canada a few years ago, all on the same plane. I’m pretty sure they travelled to Australia and New Zealand together when George was a baby, as did Charles, Diana, and baby William.
I’m also sure they flew commercial, although they didn’t fly commercial to the Caribbean this year.

^Apparently the Duke of Cambridge had to ask permission of the Queen to fly with William as a baby to Australia.^

William is the Duke of Cambridge...confused

Wonder how the Cambridges got to Jordan for their holidays last year....two private jets maybe?

They went to Balmoral on Flybe a couple of years ago.
