I don’t think that the press do bother them, do they?
I think that they are probably very cautious.
I think that the only photos that you see of them are taken at public occasions, or the ones taken by their mother.

I'm talking in a few years time when they start going out and about by themselves, University etc. William and Harry were left alone during those years by agreement.

Yes, Fanny, it's a case of you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours, and so far with the Cambridges it seems to be working.

I like that Mum is taking the photos rather than handing it over to outsiders.

Maybe in fifty years time there will not be a monarchy.

Well, the vast majority of us on GN won’t be around then to discuss it!

?

If I am, then I'll be the main news!

Is there not an agreement, the Cambridge’s release photographs and the press don’t harass.

Chestnut Sun 24-Jul-22 10:26:57

I remember when William and Harry were teenagers the press were asked to leave them alone after the harassment their mother suffered. And they did. I wonder if they will be equally respectful to these children as they go through the transition from child to adult.

Just think, in around 55 years time he might be King! Do you think they’ve told him yet? I hope he has a nice day today. Does anyone else think he looks like his Grandad Middleton?

ABSOLUTELY!!! Why is everyone saying he's the image of his dad??? He isn't! He's a Middleton as is Louis, I think Charlotte has grandma carol's eyes and a look of Her Maj?

Who are the Beckhams?

vegansrock Sun 24-Jul-22 06:49:22

The Beckhams got their fame and money by showing a modicum of talent in their chosen fields. The royals…..

Grandma70s Sun 24-Jul-22 06:37:30

I don’t know who thinks the royals are beyond criticism. It seems to me they are criticised all the time, often for just being royal, which they can’t help.

Galaxy Sun 24-Jul-22 06:32:58

Because for some of us it's the same. I see no difference. To me the royal family are celebrities that serve that function in society.

vegansrock Sun 24-Jul-22 06:29:14

Of course you can compare the Beckhams with the royals - in the public eye, pose for photos, get nitpicked over for their relationships, what they are wearing, gossiped about etc etc. Children are children whether they are royalty or not and as such maybe should have some privacy.

lemsip Sun 24-Jul-22 06:12:19

veganstock how can you compare the Beckhams with the royals f g s

vegansrock Sun 24-Jul-22 05:20:02

It’s funny how the likes of the Beckhams are criticised for showing photos of their children - Children are entitled to privacy etc but the same doesn’t apply here. It’s a nice photo which the child has had no say in its publication. This is all part of the system which gaslights people into thinking this family are beyond criticism and are not held to the same rules as others. That is sad in my book.

Lucca Sun 24-Jul-22 05:07:35

Clearly my saying several times that I’m not being unkind to the boy is ignored, it’s always the same.

Tamayra Sun 24-Jul-22 02:09:27

They flew 1st class back from Australia
I was on the same flight.
It was difficult as all us other passengers had to sit & wait on the plane for ages as they disembarked first at both the stop over in Dubai & At Heathrow

Joseanne Sun 24-Jul-22 00:56:02

I'll just add what an excellent photographer Kate is! Not just the composition of the picture, but the way in which she captures the child's sense of fun is sheer mastery.
She is very astute too, because by providing the perfect image it is pointless for the press to try to compete for pictures of the children.

Nobody's preventing anyone wishing the boy happy birthday. Many people have. If people don't like some of the posts, get the thread "back on track" by posting nice things. As we're always being told, ignore the posts one doesn't like. But I suspect the temptation to demonize people who don't hero worship the Windsors is too strong for some.

Vitriol? Really?

"Bitter criticism or malice"

If you think what has been said about the lad is bitter criticism or malice then I must surmise that you have led a very sheltered life.

then I must surmise that you have led a very sheltered life

Silly remark - and personal.

Callistemon21 Sat 23-Jul-22 22:39:27

Casdon

There are so many threads (too many) about the royals where people can comment about the system though, aren’t there? I generally stay off them, but I just don’t think a thread about wishing a child a happy birthday is the right thread to make unkind comments about him. The adult royals are fair game, but not children.

Quite right, Casdon

It's rather sad that wishing a young boy happy birthday brings forth unpleasant comments about him and his family.

There are plenty of other threads discussing the monarchy - this is not the right thread for that kind of discussion.

True Callistemon , not the forum it was, when posters could
and did disagree on some topics but no venom. So sad that many no longer post.

Ho ho ho! No venom …

It depends how far back we're talking about, Lucca

Dont understand your post sorry

And there’s plenty “venom” on certain threads masquerading as righteous indignation.

Who is being unkind to Prince George ? Posters are commenting on the “system” not on him.

Read the post.

this overprivileged boy doesn’t know we exist and cares even less

To me, that reads as a comment on him, not the system.

Excuse me but I had read the post. It means he doesn’t care in the same way any 9 year old wouldn’t be interested.

Honestly you can’t say anything without being called nasty etc it’s ridiculous,

The comments are on the system. How could they be otherwise? Unless you are seriously suggesting GN posters would attack a boy they don’t even know.

As for hijacking the thread …. How many pages of non stop happy birthday George would be enough ?
