Early in the week I placed an order for delivery today from Waitrose. I had a confirmation at 7am , then 10 minutes ago a phone call asking if I could go and collect as they had drivers out today. When I said I couldn’t, I am in my 70’s and have a bad back at the moment, the response was sorry we are cancelling your order then, yours is the smaller round so we’ve taken it out, hard luck. My round has less people because it is more rural and widespread. Apparently they don’t keep a list of vulnerable customers either. I now have no shopping for the weekend unless I can place a quick order with Iceland. I am just so shocked and disappointed with their cavalier uncompassionate behaviour.I won’t risk using them again.

After a sharp letter to the head of the JLP at their head office in Victoria Street during the first lockdown, setting out how much we had spent with them in the previous twelve months, and mentioning that I had been a customer since 1958 (school uniform from Peter Jones), their service has been impeccable.

It probably helps that we live within a couple of miles of one of their distribution centres.

I also hope you managed to get some shopping Avalon. Like others have said I would complain to Head Office. They should know how their individual supermarkets are treating their customers. That behaviour is definitely not good for you, to cancel at such short notice or PR for their Brand.

I had excellent delivery service from Waitrose during lockdown. I’m now back to shopping in store, but I’m afraid Waitrose prices are now far too expensive. I buy a few things from there, but am now shopping at Tesco, the products are not as good but much cheaper. I do feel guilty as the Waitrose delivery staff were great but I’m having to tighten my purse strings.
