Good Morning Everyone,
Its a grey start with some breeze here in brackley making it nice and cool .Today ,and easy day Tour De France finishes today, but the female version starts also.
My weight seems to be going down allot maybe due to heatwave and lack of wanting to eat allot.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning all from a wet East Yorkshire. That was a surprise when I looked out the window!

We had a lovely day at the beach with GS yesterday. The place we usually go to for lunch has had a refurb and doesn’t do the proper fish and chips any more which was disappointing but I had scampi instead. I got some lovely footage of GS on a kiddie ride in a pirate boat and him chatting to me!
We had checked his parents were back from Durham before taking him home. As we pulled into there driveway he said “Grandma can I stay with you a bit longer”
Gosh that pulled at my heartstrings and when I got in it upset me. It still does. Silly me.

No plans for today especially not now with the rain. I have an order to collect from M&S so will probably do that and have a coffee there.

Take care everyone.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I haven’t looked out of the window so there might have been a massive snowfall overnight! I think today will be pretty leisurely. All the papers to read and roast chicken dinner to cook for tonight. I have a few emails to reply to. Next week promises to be busy, culminating in clearing out various rooms ready for the decorator a week Monday. I mentioned to one of my sons the other day that we had chosen the paint colours but that it could be a surprise when he next visits. He and my other son’s partner have been very ‘helpful’ with their suggestions so I’d rather wait now until it’s all done! ??? for so many of you with difficulties.

grandMattie Sun 24-Jul-22 06:31:51

Good morning from an overcast E Kent. It is pleasantly cool this morning. Rain? No such luck…
I had a better night, not waking up hourly as is my wont, so feel better.
Church first thing - it’ll take me awhile to return to the big mid morning service with the full Monty. Small steps…
The rest of the day will be spent, like yesterday, moving my leaky hose round the garden. It is at least 3 weeks since I last watered - we probably have a hosepipe ban, but not sure.
DS had a lovely walk yesterday, following the “white cliffs” from Folkestone to Dover. He discovered the Napoleonic defences and citadel etc., on the Western Heights in Dover. As a historian, he was very interested. There also are remains of a Roman Pharos.
May today bring nothing but contentment. Carpe diem. ?????

Beechnut Sun 24-Jul-22 06:55:06

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s a grey sky and quite breezy.

I’m feeling tired this morning from my shopping trips yesterday and painting the floor in the shed. Just needs a second coat and it’s finished. I’m going to take it easier today though and make the fairy costume for Beechnutella now that she’s chosen from my stash.

Yesterday I bought some Babycham. That was a blast from the past. Me and my friend used to drink it with brandy.

Enjoy your roasts all ?

Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset

A most welcome rain shower yesterday - immediately after Mr C had watered. Not quite so dry out there. Anticipate a day of messages and calls to snd from our goddaughter. Other than that a visit planned to one of ours, let’s hope the motorways will be good to us

Thinking as ever of those facing life’s challenges. Hope Sunday is kind to us all.

Ashcombe Sun 24-Jul-22 07:05:44

Good morning from a dull mid Devon but warm, even in my normally chilly static!

My plan had been a weekend of R and R ahead of the arrival of DH and busy times to follow. I hadn’t realised that Chagstock music festival was on this weekend, just a two minute drive from the site! It was on throughout the day and ended at 1.00 am!! Good thing I’m deaf!

It’s good to hear you’ve slept better, grandMattie and your DS had an interesting day out.

It’s lovely how grandchildren are so natural in what they say, Grandmadinosaur, giving us moments to treasure.

Every blessing today. ?????

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from Northumberland where the sun is shining! We had a rather energetic day yesterday, with a walk to Howick Hall, home of Earl Grey of tea fame. GS and SiL left DD and I to walk around the gardens and arboretum and they walked home. SiL brought the car back to bring us home, which was just as well because my legs had had enough by then. Sunday lunch out today and maybe a boat trip. We’ll see. Leave you with a photo of kayakers having a breather opposite our garden! It was a bit wild for boats yesterday.
Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning all from a very muggy Black country we had rain overnight and there's still some in the air.
Lovely meal with friends, their son and family joined us so nice to catch up with them.
Ironing to do before it gets any warmer and roast chicken for later.
Glad you slept a bit better grandMattie one day at a time ?
Enjoy your Sunday everyone and may you all find some ?.

MawtheMerrier Sun 24-Jul-22 07:35:45

Good morning from N Bucks where it is pleasantly warm with a nice breeze so instead of haring straight back to bed with my cuppa, I hung out the washing I had done overnight and am now basking in my domestic goddessness.
Sundays tend to be a bit empty so I may be obliged to pop into Waitrose for some human company, but only if I can be sure to steer clear of the ice cream freezers- my mini magnum habit is showing on the scales already blushblush
Popular weekend for festivals it seems Ashcombe -D, SIL and Flynn are having a wonderful time at Latitude which is not far from their place in Norfolk - it’s very family friendly and they won’t have been there till 1a.m.
With kind thoughts to all with sadness, worry or pain, wishing you all a gentle day.

brook2704 Sun 24-Jul-22 07:39:35

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve some blue sky now but we’ve had lots of overnight rain
Another quiet day here with no plans but plenty of housework to keep me busy.
Sounds like you had such a lovely day with your DGS grandmadinosaur, precious memories
Definitely a blast from the past Beechnut I didn’t realise you could still buy Babycham I remember the TV advert too
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Oopsadaisy1 Sun 24-Jul-22 07:42:39

Good morning from a damp and cool Oxfordshire, rain overnight and the grass is beginning to green up again, thye forecast sun later.

MissOops is on her way with the dog for the day, I think she needs a break from her caring duties, she is only a phone call and 10 minutes away if she is needed, poor girl badly needs a respite, but meanwhile she tries to escape here for a couple of hours each week.

Apart from that a relaxed day with shopping coming later this afternoon.

Enjoy the day everyone and hugs for those who aren’t so chipper this morning.

Ali23 Sun 24-Jul-22 07:45:29

Good morning Mick and all. Keep an eye on that weight, Mick. The weatherman promises drizzle this morning for a couple of hours. My garden will be grateful!
Had some lovely news yesterday. My late friend’s daughter had given birth to a healthy baby boy. She would have been so pleased and so proud ?
I’m planning a dog walk this morning with coffee on the park. Otherwise, a day of following ideas as they arise.

Have a lovely Sunday, all.

Marydoll Sun 24-Jul-22 07:49:40

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, with rain forecast.

I have no plans at all today, apart from assemble a plant ladder, which I got at a bargain price from Sainsbury's,
I had a parcel to collect and realised that I should pick it up, before my procedure on Tuesday, just in case,
I spotted it and when I was told it was only, £22, I couldn't resist. I also got a garden fork, reduced to £6.50 for SIL.
Of course, I had no trolley and had to go back out to the car park for one, then try to manoeuvre the ladder into the trolley and get it back to my car.
It's not often, I have wished Victor Meldrew had accompanied me to the supermarket! I was in a right old fankle, but determined to buy it!
Of course, I wasn't worth a button, by the time I got home and spent the afternoon binge watching my latest Turkish drama.

Beechnut, I tried Babycham and brandy, as a student. Auto text changed it to Babyshambles, which is very appropriate, I was in bed for two days after drinking it. I told my mother, I had 'flu. ?

Wishing you all, the best of days and special good wishes for all, who are struggling..

Pittcity Sun 24-Jul-22 07:53:51

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Blue sky and Simpsons clouds. Going to be a hot one reaching 28° but the breeze will take the edge off.
Don't think we're doing much today but there's roast lamb for dinner.
Love to all ?x

Jaxjacky Sun 24-Jul-22 07:55:25

Morning all from an overcast S Hants, sadly no rain forecast, all of July has been dry.
Glad you slept better gMattie, it helps.
More watering, quick trip to the local shop, bin cleaning and clear out our window boxes, last week’s heat finished them.
Pick up MrJ from the airport this evening.
Have a gentle day all ??

ginny Sun 24-Jul-22 08:02:33

Good morning everyone.
Today I am off to meet up with our scrapbooking group. We meet at a farm which hires out rooms. Lovely surroundings and a great group of ‘girls’. We always have fun.

Wishing all a good day.

BlueSapphire Sun 24-Jul-22 08:03:45

Good morning everyone from an overcast and cool Northampton. No rain here, but I had watered last night when I got back from Sainsburys.

Took a duvet in to be laundered yesterday, and also a skirt and shorts back to Sainsburys that were too small the wrong size. And out I came with a new top and a two-pack of T shirts.....

Nothing planned for today except the papers and a new book, maybe catch up on some TV.

Have a pleasant and peaceful Sunday everyone.

dragonfly46 Sun 24-Jul-22 08:16:38

Good morning from cloudy Leicestershire but no rain yet.

Pleased you had a better night Mattie.
Sorry to hear you are losing weight Mick when is your test?

Went out for a walk and drive with a friend yesterday who was coughing and spluttering - just hoping it isn’t Covid as she gave it to me a few months ago!

Not much on today except to read my book club book. It is a long time since I read a book that I don’t want to end!

Wishing everyone a good day.

EkwaNimitee Sun 24-Jul-22 08:18:00

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where a dull start seems to be giving way to some sun.
Mick you're probably right about the reason for your weight loss but if it carries on and you're worried, do see your GP.
Yesterday, I had to go out to Sainsbury's and get the fruit and veg missing from my online delivery from Tesco. A few gaps there and only organic cauliflowers but I'm sorted. Can't do without my fresh veggies. I had a chat with my sister in Nottingham later and she had had the same experience. We thought it was due delivery problems because of lack of trains in the hot weather. I've been in Carlisle station and watched the very long goods trains going through, some with many containers labelled Tesco.
I've also refuelled my car, something which now costs half as much again.
I'm going to go out for a stroll in the park and hope to miss a shower then I shall take the rest of the day according to the whim of the moment. Possibly starting to sort some holiday outfits out.
Have a good day all.

ShazzaKanazza Sun 24-Jul-22 08:26:14

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. I was woken to some heavy rain but DH slept through so it was a nice surprise for him this morning.

We had a lovely video chat with DS in China yesterday. I was amused to see his wife had coloured his hair. It’s usually very grey speckled which I love but she thinks he looks too old. He has 13 classes to teach today his busiest day but while he was walking the dog early this morning he twisted his ankle so he’s on a stick for a couple of days.

Today DS, DD and SIL are coming with the DGC and DH will get out the bbq. The GC will love playing on the water chute.

Beechnut I used to feel very grown up drinking Brandy and Babycham when i was allowed in pubs.
Grandmadinosaur what a lovely memory you have from yesterday. Hope the family enjoy their holiday next week. What a palaver people are having with passports.

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday. My thoughts to those with stress and worries to deal with ??

Grammaretto Sun 24-Jul-22 08:39:31

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
I woke in the night to a storm outside - my new blinds thrash against the window. A dilemma: sleep with closed windows v open blinds and sunlight blaring into eyes at 5am.
I enjoyed a concert last night at the Brunton Hall. The Scottish Chamber Orchestra played a piece Mozart wrote when he was 14.
My DGS at 15, was impressed.
More music this afternoon - I'm singing Taizé with a group.
I am glad you had a better night gMattie and
as for Marydoll what are you like!grin
Mind you I have been known to humph bags of compost around Lidl looking for someone to pay.
Hoping everyone has a splendid Sunday and none of you are in a queue at Dover

Grandmabatty Sun 24-Jul-22 08:58:11

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 16° and damp. I don't mind as it will save me watering the garden. Beechnut I'm another who remembers the awful hangovers because of too much brandy and Babycham!
Yesterday was a full on day of drawing. It started badly though. I needed to put screen wash in the car. Could I find the latch that opened the bonnet fully? Nope. Twenty minutes later I had to give up. I slung the container in the car and set off grumbling to myself. I was half way there when I realised I had forgotten hairspray. Odd thing to take to a drawing class, you might say. I draw with soft pastels and cheap as chips hairspray sets it so it doesn't smudge. Every day is a learning day! ? Anyway I tried to find the latch when I arrived at the venue and found it first go. So smeary car windscreen was averted and my normal good humour restored. The workshop was very tiring as we did a number of five and ten minute sketches and two longer pieces. I was reasonably happy with the results of the sketches and one of the longer studies. What was the icing on the cake was a good friend and her daughter appeared. I haven't seen her for a while so it was nice to catch up between drawing.
Today I will potter gently and roast a chicken for dinner. I have washings to do and housework to do but all in good time. I hope you have a good day all.

“Oh what a beautiful morning,
Oh what a beautiful day ...”. ? ?

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where we have a gorgeous sunny start to the day. I’m like Rip van Winkle. I’ve been asleep for a solid 10 hours! Yet, I did nothing energetic yesterday.
#lazygran

Our camping tribe are having a brilliant time! We were sent several photos during the course of the afternoon and evening.

Today we are picking up my stepfather and driving to a rather nice pub in Cheshire to meet two couples, old neighbours and friends we haven’t seen in much too long. We are all looking forward to a really good catch up all afternoon, then a table is booked in a nearby curry house at 6pm. It’s wonderful really how my stepfather is so sociable, like my mum was, going with the flow. He hasn’t heard anything yet about his kidney function tests so ? all is well.

luluaugust Sun 24-Jul-22 09:21:22

Good morning all from sunny W Kent. Quiet Sunday, will phone my brother and cook a lunch. Heard from DD1 that DGS1 has just purchased his first car, look out Scotland here he comes! So pleased for him as he has been saving for a while.
We await the pictures.
Good wishes to all
