Good Morning Sunday 24th July 2022

Late to the show.
We travelled up to Suffolk from Essex earlyand the roads were virtually empty. 1hr and a half. I thought of all the poor holiday makers at airports and Dover port. Don’t think we’ll be going abroad any time soon.

Warm and windy here but lovely to have air around us. Might have a swim a bit later.

Latitude festival is quite near to us her Maw but far enough away that we don’t hear it. It didn’t happen when we were younger holidaying up here but would have definitely gone along. Can’t be bothered now. Don’t like crowds, busy roads et. etc.

Good morning Mick and all. It’s bright and sunny in my corner of Lancashire, currently 21°C.

I had a disturbed night with an annoying tickly cough causing me some discomfort. I awoke around 4am, thinking I’d heard a noise outside. Mr. B never hears anything, he’s deaf! When I looked out there was a beautiful pinky orange luminous crescent moon. It looked so striking against the dark blue sky, with some dramatic clouds in the distance. I took a photo but it doesn’t do it justice.

No real plans for today, it’s Sunday and we’ll see what the day brings. Mr. B was out late last night with our nephews, enjoying a gaming session. He will want a rest today, as do I. I’ll do my exercises as usual. Yesterday I tried on a dress that I haven’t worn for 2 years, to my great delight it fitted . We have a couple of family celebrations in August and I’m hoping to wear it to at least one of them.

We had a power blip yesterday , which led my alarm clock astray ! I have it set for 8 30 in case I oversleep , but it went off at 7 am instead ! I had forgotten it as I’m usually up around 8
I have youngest daughter overnight with her dog ! So I couldn’t get up in case it started barking , it has a very loud bark for the size of it

Good morning from West York's it's sunny at moment but windy.The mention of babycham reminded me of pink lady which my friend and I used to drink they must have been full of sugar ! We have dd partner and Gc for tea . I am thinking of cooking most of it then microwaving ,not done it before does it work anyone do it I would appreciate tips.

Good morning all from a soggy Glasgow, always looking on the brights side, at least I won’t have to get the sprinklers going or hose around the flower beds. ?

We had a lovely couple of tranquil days at the but n ben with our girls. Stopped off at Waitrose en route which meant not much effort required to prepping meals and a few tasty goodies which DH was hankering after since his OP. Job done! As my Physio recommended walking/cycling to aid recovery of my recently fractured hip, I had a tootle around on my bike with success and no need for added pain relief. Phew!

A trip to our local BM store for a new garden incinerator today as our current one has taken such a roasting, the bum has fallen out?

Good morning from a cool west midlands with rain in the air. Having a wasps nest in the garden removed today. Cutting back in the garden has exposed it. May look for old photos of my daughter to prepare for her memorial later in the year.

Good morning all from sunny W Kent. Quiet Sunday, will phone my brother and cook a lunch. Heard from DD1 that DGS1 has just purchased his first car, look out Scotland here he comes! So pleased for him as he has been saving for a while.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where we have a gorgeous sunny start to the day. I’m like Rip van Winkle. I’ve been asleep for a solid 10 hours! Yet, I did nothing energetic yesterday.

Our camping tribe are having a brilliant time! We were sent several photos during the course of the afternoon and evening.

Today we are picking up my stepfather and driving to a rather nice pub in Cheshire to meet two couples, old neighbours and friends we haven’t seen in much too long. We are all looking forward to a really good catch up all afternoon, then a table is booked in a nearby curry house at 6pm. It’s wonderful really how my stepfather is so sociable, like my mum was, going with the flow. He hasn’t heard anything yet about his kidney function tests so ? all is well.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 16° and damp. I don't mind as it will save me watering the garden. Beechnut I'm another who remembers the awful hangovers because of too much brandy and Babycham!
Yesterday was a full on day of drawing. It started badly though. I needed to put screen wash in the car. Could I find the latch that opened the bonnet fully? Nope. Twenty minutes later I had to give up. I slung the container in the car and set off grumbling to myself. I was half way there when I realised I had forgotten hairspray. Odd thing to take to a drawing class, you might say. I draw with soft pastels and cheap as chips hairspray sets it so it doesn't smudge. Every day is a learning day! ? Anyway I tried to find the latch when I arrived at the venue and found it first go. So smeary car windscreen was averted and my normal good humour restored. The workshop was very tiring as we did a number of five and ten minute sketches and two longer pieces. I was reasonably happy with the results of the sketches and one of the longer studies. What was the icing on the cake was a good friend and her daughter appeared. I haven't seen her for a while so it was nice to catch up between drawing.
Today I will potter gently and roast a chicken for dinner. I have washings to do and housework to do but all in good time. I hope you have a good day all.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
I woke in the night to a storm outside - my new blinds thrash against the window. A dilemma: sleep with closed windows v open blinds and sunlight blaring into eyes at 5am.
I enjoyed a concert last night at the Brunton Hall. The Scottish Chamber Orchestra played a piece Mozart wrote when he was 14.
My DGS at 15, was impressed.
More music this afternoon - I'm singing Taizé with a group.

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. I was woken to some heavy rain but DH slept through so it was a nice surprise for him this morning.

We had a lovely video chat with DS in China yesterday. I was amused to see his wife had coloured his hair. It’s usually very grey speckled which I love but she thinks he looks too old. He has 13 classes to teach today his busiest day but while he was walking the dog early this morning he twisted his ankle so he’s on a stick for a couple of days.

Today DS, DD and SIL are coming with the DGC and DH will get out the bbq. The GC will love playing on the water chute.

Beechnut I used to feel very grown up drinking Brandy and Babycham when i was allowed in pubs.
Grandmadinosaur what a lovely memory you have from yesterday. Hope the family enjoy their holiday next week. What a palaver people are having with passports.

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where a dull start seems to be giving way to some sun.
Mick you're probably right about the reason for your weight loss but if it carries on and you're worried, do see your GP.
Yesterday, I had to go out to Sainsbury's and get the fruit and veg missing from my online delivery from Tesco. A few gaps there and only organic cauliflowers but I'm sorted. Can't do without my fresh veggies. I had a chat with my sister in Nottingham later and she had had the same experience. We thought it was due delivery problems because of lack of trains in the hot weather. I've been in Carlisle station and watched the very long goods trains going through, some with many containers labelled Tesco.
I've also refuelled my car, something which now costs half as much again.
I'm going to go out for a stroll in the park and hope to miss a shower then I shall take the rest of the day according to the whim of the moment. Possibly starting to sort some holiday outfits out.

Went out for a walk and drive with a friend yesterday who was coughing and spluttering - just hoping it isn’t Covid as she gave it to me a few months ago!

Not much on today except to read my book club book. It is a long time since I read a book that I don’t want to end!

Took a duvet in to be laundered yesterday, and also a skirt and shorts back to Sainsburys that were too small the wrong size. And out I came with a new top and a two-pack of T shirts.....

Nothing planned for today except the papers and a new book, maybe catch up on some TV.

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, with rain forecast.

I have no plans at all today, apart from assemble a plant ladder, which I got at a bargain price from Sainsbury's,
I had a parcel to collect and realised that I should pick it up, before my procedure on Tuesday, just in case,
I spotted it and when I was told it was only, £22, I couldn't resist. I also got a garden fork, reduced to £6.50 for SIL.
Of course, I had no trolley and had to go back out to the car park for one, then try to manoeuvre the ladder into the trolley and get it back to my car.
It's not often, I have wished Victor Meldrew had accompanied me to the supermarket! I was in a right old fankle, but determined to buy it!
Of course, I wasn't worth a button, by the time I got home and spent the afternoon binge watching my latest Turkish drama.

Beechnut, I tried Babycham and brandy, as a student. Auto text changed it to Babyshambles, which is very appropriate, I was in bed for two days after drinking it. I told my mother, I had 'flu. ?

Had some lovely news yesterday. My late friend’s daughter had given birth to a healthy baby boy. She would have been so pleased and so proud ?

Good morning from a damp and cool Oxfordshire, rain overnight and the grass is beginning to green up again, thye forecast sun later.

MissOops is on her way with the dog for the day, I think she needs a break from her caring duties, she is only a phone call and 10 minutes away if she is needed, poor girl badly needs a respite, but meanwhile she tries to escape here for a couple of hours each week.

Apart from that a relaxed day with shopping coming later this afternoon.

Good morning from N Bucks where it is pleasantly warm with a nice breeze so instead of haring straight back to bed with my cuppa, I hung out the washing I had done overnight and am now basking in my domestic goddessness.
Sundays tend to be a bit empty so I may be obliged to pop into Waitrose for some human company, but only if I can be sure to steer clear of the ice cream freezers- my mini magnum habit is showing on the scales already
Popular weekend for festivals it seems Ashcombe -D, SIL and Flynn are having a wonderful time at Latitude which is not far from their place in Norfolk - it’s very family friendly and they won’t have been there till 1a.m.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from Northumberland where the sun is shining! We had a rather energetic day yesterday, with a walk to Howick Hall, home of Earl Grey of tea fame. GS and SiL left DD and I to walk around the gardens and arboretum and they walked home. SiL brought the car back to bring us home, which was just as well because my legs had had enough by then. Sunday lunch out today and maybe a boat trip. We’ll see. Leave you with a photo of kayakers having a breather opposite our garden! It was a bit wild for boats yesterday.
