Good Morning Everyone,
Its a dry but with some cloud here in brackley this morning.
Yesterday , I did venture to Bicester again on the bus , and since I have changed the way I take my prescribed medication I felt OK.
Today , a small shop as I am away from mid morning on Monday , not much to get .
Apart from watching the women's Tour De France on TV , coupled with the Brum Commonwealth Games, I enjoyed the opening ceremony last night .
Take Care,
Mick

Good Morning Friday 29th July 2022
(59 Posts)Good morning from Durham, where it’s raining. A poor night as I’ve made a difficult decision to sell a house that I rent out - I feel unreasonably guilty. A busy day in store - Gardener this morning. DD2’s dogs to take back, a quick coffee with her, then I need to book Estate Agents to value the rental property. BF going away for a few days and wants me to have her key to pick up post, etc.
I’ll read this thread later, but wish everyone a decent weekend.
Good morning from an overcast E Kent. Georgesgran, I’m so envious of your rain.
Yesterday was very productive. DS and I cleared out a number of books, both his and mine, Philip’s too, clothes, and took them to various charity shops. Most of Philip’s books were rescued from pulping; he worked at a paper recycling plant and he got all sorts of stuff from there.
Today, a visit to the tip, with garden stuff, shredded papers of DH’s, old electrics, etc.
Had cold turkey last night - still enough for another 4-5 days. I have never liked turkey!
Hope all our poorly GMmers feel better. Carpe diem. ????
Good morning Michael and all GNs. It’s cloudy and damp in Northumberland at the moment. The last day of a lovely holiday. After breakfast at Barter Books and a visit to Cragside we will be on our way home to South Yorkshire. Next time I open my bedroom curtains I shall miss seeing the sea and a host of wonderful birds at the bottom of the garden!
Enjoy your day, one and all!
Good morning all, high cloud in S Hants, I share your rain envy grandMattie next Friday our hosepipe ban starts, I’m not surprised.
I’ve a few lifts to sort from being on the voluntary phone yesterday, supermarket delivery this afternoon and bowls early evening.
Our new bedroom window was fitted yesterday, very quick they were and tidy, now to source blinds.
Enjoy your day, thoughts with those struggling ??.
Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I am having a baking day today and probably a bit of admin too. I heard yesterday that my brother in Australia is back in hospital with heart problems. I am in a WhatsApp group with his two daughters and my sister and we are being kept up to speed by his partner. It’s a worrying time.
Morning Mick, morning All. A bright start to our corner of Somerset, sunshine promised.
Serious dust removal today as we have friends coming to stay for a few days at the weekend, the second time they have risked my cooking this year, brave folk indeed. Best do a top up shop too. Also get plant watering instructions from a friend who is going walkabout tomorrow.
That does sound a very productive day grandm, I love cold turkey, happy to help you out. Safe journey greyd and anyone else on the move today.
Hope Friday is kind to us all.
Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where its 12°C.
Yet another night with little sleep and I'm wide awake now.
DD and I had a lovely morning out, passing the time until she could pick the keys to their new home. It's in the next village to us, so she will only be ten minutes away from us and five from DS1.
They were very fortunate, since up to twenty people are bidding for houses here and houses are being snapped up in days, tens of thousands of pounds over their value.
The garden centre lived up to its reputation, thank for the recommendation, Kalu.
It was very busy, (it seems I am even more vulnerable now), so we sat outside, with views right across Glasgow to the Kilpatrick Hills. An added bonus, the cakes were amazing!
Unfortunately, my credit card did not remaining in my purse!
I was exhausted, but in good spirits, with a good excuse for resting all afternoon. ?
I have to pop to Silverburn, to return a jacket to Silverburn, which looks nothing like its picture and a dress to Next, which makes me look nine months pregnant. My stomach is permanently swollen at the moment, not a good look, when you aspire to being a chic, stylish 68 year old. ?
This afternoon, DH and I are having a tour of the new house. DD wanted me to accompany her yesterday, because SIL had to work. I declined, because I felt they should see it together and alone for the first time.?
Much to their surprise, the lady left her fridge freezer, (saving them a lot of money) and a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
Wishing you all the best of days. I hope the mums had a good day with their boys yesterday and those struggling have a peaceful day. ?
Good morning. Same indifferent weather here in N. Bucks. Not cold but no blue skies.
Not much planned for today. Some food rep. ready for DD1 and SIL tomorrow.
I might wander down to the local art club this morning with a view to joining.
Thoughts with all who are poorly or dealing with others who are.
Good morning all from East Yorkshire. It’s dry here and 12 degrees.
I had a shock yesterday at my dental appointment. I had 2 fillings and the bill at the end was £320. I was gobsmacked to say the least and I was £40 in credit from the treatment I’d had for my crown.
No plans for today at the moment. DH might have to go for a meeting out of town either Leeds or Manchester way. I might go along with him and while away my time having a shop. Then I have an online shop coming early evening.
I bet the Grans who are childminding are glad it’s Friday! I’ve had photos from our lot in Spain. I think GS is living his best life - beach, ice creams, bouncy castles ?
Take care everyone.
Good morning from sunny Wiltshire, I am lazing in bed with a coffee and an inclination not to move ? I think all the upheaval of having work done in the house has completely drained me.
I have booked a dog walking field this morning so DDog can have a good run around. I need to change the beds and clean through before DD comes for the weekend.
Off for my watercolour course on Sunday, hooray!
I hope you all have a lovely day x
Good morning all from an overcast Black country.
Today we have the little one, DS has tickets for himself and eldest grandson for the boxing at the games. So probably a trip to the park will be the order of the day.
Enjoy your day everyone, best wishes for anyone celebrating and virtual hugs where needed and may you all find some ?.
Good morning from a grey but very dry Oxfordshire. DH and I are both off today, we plan on taking a picnic and a flask and walking on the nearby Ridgeway with dog. We love to spend the day walking.
Shopping being delivered shortly so must get up. Wishing you all a happy Friday.
Good morning all from a cloudy (still) North Leicestershire.
Cleaner here this morning while DH is at the gym then DD1 and DGS3 are coming for lunch as DGS wants to look through our LPs - no I don't know why either!
Good morning from sunny Colchester. Another hot, dry day due here.
We had an excellent if exhausting day at the Navy Family Day yesterday. I was deafened by helicopters and learned a lot about DS's job. We got home late last night and I expect DS will sleep for most of the weekend.
Laundry and shopping today.
Love to all ? x
Morning Mick and all
It’s warm here in S E Essex and the sun and blue sky is beginning to out number the clouds.
Today DH and I are taking the 7yr old to Hyde Hall RHS Gardens. He loves the Bees along with whatever Summer Holiday activities they have put on. It’s good to have him on his own without his baby brother The Imp (who has been renamed Loki by some members of the family, the God of misrule/mischief in Norse Folklore)
Then I think it will be a Chinese Takeaway this evening, I have only cooked twice in the last eight days, I really must get reacquainted with my kitchen, #lazygran (I am learning Urmstongran ?)
Keep safe and well folks ?♀️?
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 13° and a mixture of clouds and sun. Yesterday I had the boys for a few hours. My friend (childless) arrived with a jar of homemade lemon curd just as dgs1 was zooming around being a train and dgs2 was indulging in screams and badly needed a new nappy. Friend elected to hand over jam/curd at the door and scarper. ? I was a bit irritated later as I went to pick up my prescription and it wasn't there. I'll have to go back this morning.
Later this afternoon, dgs1 is returning for a sleepover. He has demanded haggis and sausage for dinner and I've promised him pancakes for breakfast. He's recently developed a fear of the dark, so I've bought him a night light in the shape of ... A train. What a surprise I hear you say.? I expect to be playing all afternoon between picking peas for his lordship to eat. I am his willing slave. Have a good day all.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve blue sky with a few white clouds.
We’re not looking after DGD today as SIL has his rota day off. So it’ll be out in the garden for me to catch up on a few jobs. The recent rain has made everything grow such a lot so I’ve lots to get done.
Enjoy your walking today chrissielou it sounds good
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull.
Ever morning when I write ‘morning’ it comes out as ‘Mirning’ and I always think of Ashcombe and Allo Allo. I always check before I post it ?♀️
That’s a glorious view Marydoll.
Ladyleftfieldlover so worrying about your Brother. You must feel so helpless ?
grandMattie I’ll help you with your Turkey I love it with pickles.
This morning I’m going to the gym. It should be zoom yoga but the teacher isn’t well. She sent a recording but I’ll do the gym instead I think. I’ve a pile of ironing that needs doing this afternoon. We got up early to make DS a sausage and egg sandwich before he goes to work he stayed last night. He never bothers at home but at ours we don’t like to send him out on an empty stomach.
Have a good day everyone but thoughts and hugs to those suffering difficult days ??
Good morning everyone from a sunny Northampton. No plans for today as the plumber is returning to fix the bathroom loo, and I have no idea what time he plans on arriving.
We had a lovely day at DS's award ceremony yesterday, after a bit of drama at the beginning. We arrived at the station to find that all trains to London had been cancelled, not the strike, but there had been an 'incident' on the line between Milton Keynes and Euston. A quick decision made, and we had decided to drive to St Albans and get a train from there. Which we did, getting off at West Hampstead and then underground to Westminster, arriving at the venue in plenty of time.
The ceremony was very well done, lots of proud families attending, and we were treated to a most impressive buffet afterwards. The journey home was a reverse of the trip down and went well.
Watered the garden when I got back, made a quick omelette for tea, and then settled down to watch the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games, which I very much enjoyed.
A pleasant Friday to all.
Good morning from a cloudy and grey Black Country.
Great walk yesterday with my Thursday group. Kinver along the canal to Caunsall where we had lunch at a pub there. Lovely cobs for £2.80 with lots of salad, and a Latte for £2.00. Took a photo of cows drinking from the canal
Gym this morning, then appointment with Building Society, as I had an email offering a savings account paying 5% !!
Catch up on housework this afternoon, unless the sun is shining and we go out for a walk.
Georgesgran I will have to make that decision to sell a rental property within the next 2 years. I am hoping the tenant has left by then.
Best wishes to your brother and hoping he will be back home soon Ladyleftfieldlover
Good morning all from a cloudy ⛅️ with sun peeking through Suffolk seaside.
Yesterday we had the glazier fit our new kitchen door window and also replace another window which had a small crack in.
We now need a plasterer and decorator in for a small lounge. Probably wait til the autumn. !
I eventually got through to the docs about the tablets I’m on. He will phone you said the receptionist. This was at 9.30 am. Waited around all day and he rang me at 4 pm. Changed my anti biotics so hopefully these won’t upset me. I have to take 6 a day for 3 weeks! ??. All for a bloomin tic bite. Hate taking tablets and I’m fortunate not to be taking anything else.
We have DS2 and family coming for the weekend and will meet them this evening at Thorpeness for a meal in the lovely pub there. Hopefully no ‘deer’ waiting to pounce!
Wishing you all a very good day.?
No Matt.
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where once again, we had heavy rainfall during the night. The pavements and my decking on the verandah are still wet. The sky is just a pale wash of white cloud. No sun.
Himself is minding the grandchildren for a couple of hours mid morning whilst their mum and I have mani/pedi appointments at the salon. I can’t wait to have my (now) very long nails snipped off! I shall choose a coral gel polish I think. Nice summery Smartie nails - my usual look.
We are meeting friends late afternoon for pre+prandial drinks. They are retired like us and back after a very long holiday so it will be lovely to see them again and hear all about it.
grandMattie I think life’s too short to eat turkey for 4 - 5 days as you don’t even like it! Freeze it or bin it I say. ?
Lovely view Marydoll.
Ooh the train to Manchester Oxford Road has just arrived at platform 1. Commuters in their jeans, jackets and backpacks. Looks like autumn out there!
Good morning from an overcast Torbay with a hint of blue.
Today we are off to Dartmouth for a couple of days to attend a wedding tomorrow at a pretty little village church in Dittisham. The bride is a delightful young lady with whom I've appeared on stage a couple of times. We are honoured to be included and decided to make a weekend of it by staying at the reception venue. A welcome escape from our busy rehearsal schedule.
Wishing you all a happy weekend, with safe journeys to those who are travelling, rain to all who need it and better health for the unwell.
?????
Good morning from a sunny Oxfordshire, it’s so nice to see the sun again after several cloudy days.
Boiler man coming any minute to service the boiler, then bed changing and some ironing to do.
Apart from that an easy day.
Have a good day everyone.
