Good Morning Saturday 30th July 2022
(43 Posts)Good morning Mick and all who follow from a damp north Wales ??????? where there’s a dratted ? bombing me….?
We’re trotting to a new cafe for a bacon bap this morning Mick - local football club does food & drink so will pick up a ? on the way and catch a bus back if this ? continues!
Good to see GG back after her recent bizziness and wish I could get my hands on your ? leftovers GM - my Turkey and ham pie ? last Christmas was to die for?
Have a lovely weekend peeps and ? and hugs for all with challenges at the moment x
Good morning from a cloudy E Kent. The sky will clear in the early afternoon, to give us another hot evening.
I have decided that it’s the gulls that wake me up so early and so thoroughly every morning. It’s really trying.
We had a successful day with our tip visit. I’ll probably spend today thawing out my big freezer and trying to remember what is in which unlabelled box!
I made stock with the turkey bones and made what my DC used to call “turkey in wallpaper paste” - a bechamel made with stock, baked with various vegetables and turkey, the covered in cobblers. DS loved it.
Hope all with aches, pains and worries have a peaceful day. Have a gentle day one and all. Carpe diem. ?????
Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I’m off to London early this morning. As there are no trains I am getting the Oxford Tube. Lunch in Soho with younger son and then the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy. I hope it will be a good day! I had already bought a train ticket but am now trying to claim the money back.
Morning Mick and all
No idea why I am just awake so early (perhaps it’s the fear of having to cook this evening ?)
First thing on the agenda today is a big food shop, especially treats and fruit for GC. We have AS4’s children here for two days (it’s the first time we have had them overnight together ? aged 5 & 2) The 5yr old GD will keep us on our toes and no doubt let us know if/when we get things wrong ???The 2yr old GS is extremely laid back and chilled)totally opposite to his cousin The Imp!
Hopefully the weather remains good so they can swim and spend most of the days in the garden.
Hyde Hall was lovely yesterday Gingster but even their gardeners have let some of the lawns grow and not watered, much to the delight of the 7yr old who had great fun running through the long grass of the Sky Meadow.
GrandMattie Turkey is my favourite meat along with Chicken ?
Keep safe and well folks ?♀️?
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a wet South Yorkshire. We got home early evening yesterday after a visit to Cragside House, always a joy, gave us a fitting swan song to our holiday. The formal gardens were a glory. GS was bored to tears until we got to the tea room! I miss the sea already ☹️. Laundry for me today and shifting the dust that has settled while I’ve been away. I’ve had noisy company for a week and now I have to get used to a quiet house and my own company again. I’ll leave you with a couple of photos of Cragside. Have the best day you can, folks.
Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset.
Our friend had a half hip replacement yesterday a week after hospital admission. It’s been a difficult week for her for sure. Hope to get positive news today when I call the ward, permission has been given to share details with me as long as I remember the password. Should be easy enough, it’s our surname
.
Friends coming to stay tomorrow so off to top up groceries after the laundry emerges from the machine. Preparatory cooking later, Mr C has offered to iron.
Some of that turkey would be useful here grandmattie. Your little plum trees are fruiting well. Any of that energy to share granng? You’re a busy soul. All this talk of breakfast baps has me wondering if the grocery shop could just include a cafe stop.
Safe travels to all on the move today, hope Saturday is kind to us all.
Good morning from sunny N Bucks. I know I’ll be kicking myself for saying this, come November, but ????? day after day gets boring doesn’t it?
I hope everybody’s plans go well. I’m puzzled by the Oxford Tube , LLFL - what is that?
I let my RA “Friends” membership lapse at the beginning of the pandemic, and like so many other things have not bothered to renew it. I think I am far from being alone in this. It is said to take 3 weeks to establish or break a habit , so after 2 years it is hardly surprising!
No plans for today here , so that should be easy enough.
Wishing you all a pleasant day.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve some light rain, fingers crossed it’ll stop soon and the sun will show up.
Sounds like a busy fun weekend GG enjoy the GC and hope it stays dry.
Nothing much planned today except a trip to the shops for a browse and a bit of food shopping.
Good to hear you’re home safely after a lovely holiday greyduster happy memories made
Hoping your friend recovers well cornergran
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Good morning from Colchester where we have hazy sunshine. We are in dire need of rain and there is some in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow.
I have no plans today so will pootle and faff. DH has a work reunion this evening and DS will sleep until noon. Youngsters are in a different timezone to us, they are only just getting going when we are off to bed!
Love to all ? x
Good morning all from a drizzly North Leicestershire. We even had rain overnight.
We had a lovely day with DD1 and DGS3 yesterday. Not much on today apart from getting ahead with preparation for a visit from DD3 and co.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 17° and damp. I had a terrible night's sleep so I'm rather tired. However I have a three year old cuddling up beside me on the couch watching trains on YouTube, so that will make me feel better. The lack of sleep wasn't down to him. He slept from eight o'clock til half seven. Today will be spent playing. He fancies a walk to the swings so hopefully the rain will stay off later. Grandma's homemade pancakes for breakfast in a while. Have a good day all
Good morning everyone.
Maw you must be keeping all that sunshine up the road. I’v not noticed much here. Warmish but very little blue sky.
Small food shop this morning and then we will take the dog to the secure field for a good run about.
It is DD3s birthday but they are away in holiday so will will celebrate in their return.
DD1 and SIL are coming this afternoon and will have dinner with us later.
Wishing a good day for all.
Good morning all from an overcast Black country.
Lovely photos on here once again, those plums look delicious grandMattie.
Not much planned for the daytime must take youngest DGS high chair to charity shop, he told me it's for babies and he's a big boy.
Friends coming later and we will take a walk over to the club.
Usual full English calling so will catch up with everybody's happenings later.
Best wishes for anyone celebrating, safe travels for those on the move and virtual hugs where needed ?.
Enjoy your Saturday and may you all find some ?.
Good morning all from a rainy Glasgow. I have been AWOL due to some glitch at GNHQ who, for whatever reason requested I log in for the last few days and frustratingly, didn’t recognise my password which hasn’t changed since I joined 11yrs ago. I gave up trying then this morning, no request to log in!?♀️
A bit of a hectic morning yesterday as DH had a clinic appointment which thankfully went well then a rush to get home to spend our last hour with DD2 before DD1 took her to the airport to catch her flight/s back to Australia. I held it together as we waved them off before a mixed bag of the emotional last two months came to the fore and the floodgates opened. ? Our busy house is now so very quiet as we settle
quietly at home to our new normal.
Pleased to hear you and your DD had a lovely visit to my local garden centre Marydoll. Such a great selection to choose from and I agree, the cakes are to die for. ?
No idea what I may get up to today but much love and best wishes to all for a positive day.
Good morning everyone, it’s grey skies here but quite warm. DDog had a sniffy walk this morning, so she’s happily snoozing.
DD coming later, it will be lovely to see her.
I hope the sun shines for you all x
Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it's 17°C.
GM, I would already stripped that tree to make jam. We planted ours thirty years ago and it has never fruited! That reminds me, I have a few blackcurrants, so make may make jam today, in the jam maker, little effort required.
Yesterday turned out to be an unexpectedly pleasant day. I had messaged my son and had mentioned I was in Silverburn, one of the sites, which his company manage for the owners.
He happened to be on site for a meeting, five minutes later he appeared and took me for coffee. I felt like the queen, when the general manager, whom I know from a previous life appeared and gave me the biggest of hugs. I was then was introduced to various other managers. Boy was I a proud mum!
I have had very little social contact with people for months, so much so, that DS told me I was chatting too much and keeping them all from an important meeting!
They were joking that they would warn the security staff that a shoplifter, disguised as a little old lady was on site.
Little did they know, they had jinxed me!
I went into to Tesco for a few basics and as usual was picked for a random search.
I had nothing to hide, did I?
Some strawberries hadn't scanned, so I was subjected to a full search. My trolley was a mess of bags, (and a plastic greenhouse for DD), as I was struggling and had thrown everything in randomly. Another item hadn't scanned, I was absolutely mortified!
The assistant even tried to scan the half drunk bottle of juice (not from Tesco) and the item, I had picked up from TKMaxx for DD.
The scanner was dodgy, m'lud!. Well that's my story and I am sticking to it.
DS thought it was so funny that he wasn't required to come and liberate me from Silverburn jail! ?
I seem to have some kind of super power in me, which attracts trouble!
After I was released from custody, I started the 1/4 mile trek to my car. I know, because the manager told me the distance yesterday!
Foolishly, I had done and bought too much and had to keep sitting down. I always walk outside in the fresh air, to avoid people.
Two security guards spotted me and came to ask if I was ok. I said I was fine, but the man insisted I was not. (He was correct) He took the trolley from me and insisted on pushing it to my car in the multi storey car park, even taking my trolley to get my £1 coin back!!!
These men had no knowledge of my connection to the centre management team, but will get a pleasant surprise, when their boss calls them in to complement them today!
The most important news of all, is that the lodgers have FÌNALLY LEFT THE BUILDING!
All I can hear is silence.
We went for a quick look at their new home, it needs some work done, but they have decided to move in anyway.
The garden has been sadly neglected and the abundant plum tree is full of rotten fruit, ( any advice welcome), but I did come away with a lot of flowers for the house!
The best part of the day, is that Dollie lives five minutes down the hill, so we popped in to see her and DIL She was so excited that her beloved papa had arrived unexpectedly.
I had to have a conducted tour of her own little garden and was expected to name all the flowers!
Of course, I had overdone it as usual and fell asleep, once we returned home. However, I have to make the best of the good days. I have difficult times ahead and want to seize every moment, I can..
The plan today, is to assemble my new water feature, it looks as if it may be a bit of a challenge, but I'm determined to do it myself. !
I have only read the first few posts, so I'm going back to read.
Enjoy your day, whatever your plans and sending virtual hugs to all, who are struggling. .
Morning all from still no rain S Hants.
Enjoy your breakfast baps those indulging.
A very imposing hall Greyduster
Very busy GG13 you wear me out reading your plans!
We played nearly 3 hours of bowls yesterday evening, first time we stayed for both sessions, a good work out.
Grandchildren here soon, my daughter has a hospital appt.
Enjoy your Saturday all ??.
No Matt.
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dull and cool.
We are going over to my stepfather’s this afternoon to spend a couple of hours with him. Likely as not we will all have a wee dram together!
He’s asked us to bring some heavy items (huge box soap powder, fabric softener etc) from Sainsbury’s that will keep him stocked up until we return from Spain in mid-September.
?
Morning from S Lanarkshire, still very cloudy and breezy, the wind has been a real feature for weeks now. My town is high up at the top of the Clyde valley and our height has made a difference to our weather this ‘summer’.
Laser eye treatment went well yesterday and has made an immediate difference to my vision. A stronger prescription for my glasses should help further but the doctor reminded me gently that nothing can be done about the macular degeneration. I try not to think about that.
I helped out yesterday in my 7 year old DGS’s imaginary pizza restaurant and I was on the phones. He asked me to check whether the caller was vegetarian, vegan or pregnant??
If so no cheese allowed! Other than his rather authoritarian approach it did make me wonder if vegan cheese is in fact okay in pregnancy?
Greyduster, your holiday sounds great fun, it is an adjustment going home to an empty house after a holiday one of the hardest things I think?
Have the best day possible everyone ???
Good Morning Mick and everyone from a damp Hull.
Greyduster Cragside House and gardens look glorious. So pleased you had an amazing holiday.
GrandMattie whenever we are at my sisters in Canterbury I usually pick her little plums from her tree and she makes lovely jam. Her dog sits under catching any I drop.
Ladyleftfieldlover have a great time in London.
Chilling this morning then picking up our friends at 12-30 to drive to Filey to our other friends caravan. Her DH is doing a bbq. It’s her birthday so it should be an lovely afternoon I think it’s going to be showery though. I’m sure they have a large awning so we’ll be dry though cosy.
Enjoy your day everyone especially our friends with grandchildren visiting. Virtual hugs to those who are feeling weighed down with stress and worries??
my sunflowers this year are the deep red ones with orange tips on the petals and don’t look great on a photo I did try to take one to show you. ?
Good morning Mick, morning all from drizzly South Lanarkshire.
We have DD’s girls with us, we picked them up yesterday and DH will take them home after he drops me off at the hospital as I have an MRI appointment late afternoon. They have been such good company, they really are delightful children.
I’m sure I’ll collapse on the sofa when I get home though, they can talk for Scotland.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Baubles good luck with the appointment.
Stilllearning, I was wondering about your eye surgery, delighted to hear it went well.
Re. plums - I used to make jam for DH. I don’t eat many preserves though I make 100’s of pots of jam, marmalade, piccalilli and chutney. DS doesn’t like plums. So I shall probably freeze them and take them out to stew in the dark winter months.
