Good Morning Everyone,
Its a grey and dull start here in brackley this morning .
Yesterdays trip got as far as Buckingham then a return home , but I enjoyed watching both the Commonwealth Games cycling plus the femmes Tour De France.
I will start to pack today as to my break for a few days ,starting tomorrow.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning Mick, a damp start here in Wiltshire.
Hoping for a quiet morning before leaving for my art course, bit of a forlorn one because DD’s here with her DDog, so the two dogs play incessantly, she and DH are off tile hunting and I need to pack.
I hope you all have a peaceful day x

grandMattie Sun 31-Jul-22 06:08:31

Good morning from yet another grey day. How I wish it would rain rather than those sullen, unproductive skies,
Had a good day yesterday thawing out my big freezer. I have enough meat and fish to last me at least 6 months…
Church first thing. It’ll take me a little while yet before I feel able to go to the 1030 service - it’s nearly a year since I last went. I really don’t want pity.
Today, I think I shall attempt to prune my olive tree. I was told it shouldn’t be more than about 2m, because of subsidence, but it’s about 3m or more ATM. I’m hoping DS will help.
Turkey salad for dinner, with garlic bread.
Have a good Sunday. Carpe diem. ?????

Greyduster Sun 31-Jul-22 06:31:48

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a damp South Yorkshire where I slept badly and have woken up with a cold! That’s all I need at the moment. I am cooking a family lunch today so I don’t want to be sneezing all over the kitchen! For some reason, since I came home, my energy monitor doesn’t seem to be working properly. It registers the gas but not the electricity and nothing I do seems to rectify it, so I will have to ring Ovo. Oh joy! I was paranoid about it when it was working properly and now I’m paranoid because it isn’t!
Have a good day, one and all, and enjoy your trip Mick!

Good morning all from South Lanarkshire, it looks quite bright outside.

I’ve no plans today other than to finish my book and sort some childrens clothes into sizes, I’m storing them for DS until they are needed.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Gymstagran Sun 31-Jul-22 06:54:43

Good Morning from a grey and wet West Midlands. Just one dog to look after today, the other family are home. However, this one is a puppy and not properly house trained yet. Constant observation needed.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 31-Jul-22 06:56:48

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Church this morning - a Book of Common Prayer service in a tiny, Georgian church in a nearby village. Then, OH and I must clear out the kitchen, utility room and larder ready for the decorators who are arriving at 8 am tomorrow. I didn’t tell younger son what colours we had chosen when I met up with him in London yesterday! He might have asked if I was sure.

ShazzaKanazza Sun 31-Jul-22 06:59:59

Good morning Mick and everyone from a rainy Hull. I can hear it clattering against the windows from my bed.
This morning we are supporting our daughter running a 10k. Hope the rain stops for them.
This afternoon DS will pop over with GS and have dinner with us. I think DH will cook on the bbq.

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday. Thoughts to those who are struggling with illness and stress. ??

MawtheMerrier Sun 31-Jul-22 07:08:12

Good morning from a cooler N Bucks where we must have had some rain in the night, but it hasn’t had any impact on the garden .
I can’t put off the ironing any longer - not that there is much, but I can’t get away with unironed linen and cotton shirts.
SIL sent me a clip of part of the BBC coverage of Men’s Marathon from yesterday’s Commonwealth Games. At about 11 minutes in as the leading runners started their first loop of Cannon Hill Park, GS (12) can be seen “joining in” running alongside the leader (on the other side of the barrier on the grass) for several minutes. He gave him a run for his money too. It was hilarious! ??‍♂️??‍♂️??‍♂️
No firm plans for today - well it is Sunday and a day of rest!
Wishing you all a pleasant day.

Good morning, all, on a rather damp start to the day at a golfing hotel near Dartmouth.

The wedding yesterday at Dittisham church was beautiful. A lovely change to attend a traditional marriage! A stunning bride with a retinue of attendants and a handsome groom completed the occasion and the vicar was most charismatic. The reception was held at this hotel where we've stayed for two nights.

Today it's back to reality with a rehearsal all afternoon for 'Allo, 'Allo. Sadly, our lovely director is in hospital following a heart event on his 79th birthday on Friday. Nevertheless, the show must go on!

Greyduster: my energy monitor does that occasionally then comes back on in a few hours, so I don't think think it's anything to worry about.

Have a a blessed Sunday, everyone!

brook2704 Sun 31-Jul-22 07:20:21

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a sunny start to the day and quite warm
No plans today so I’ll do a bit of housework and tidying and then enjoy being in the garden
Good fun for your DGS maw and great that it was caught on camera. Good luck to your DD with her 10k shazza
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

monk08 Sun 31-Jul-22 07:30:52

Good morning all from a wet Black country. We have a children's party to attend later so hope the weather picks up.
Nothing else planned.
Thoughts to those struggling with illness themselves or family members.
Enjoy your Sunday and may you all find some ?.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 31-Jul-22 07:48:20

Morning Mick and all

It’s greyish here in S E Essex but the sun is trying to break through and we are expected to reach 27-28 C.

The tiniest are arriving soon, so I must dry my hair and get dressed.

Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday, (((hugs))) to those in need.

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

Urmstongran Sun 31-Jul-22 07:49:56

No Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s raining cats and dogs. Again. Were those 2 hot days last Monday & Tuesday summer then?

A day of watching sport on tv for Himself (the Hungarian Grand Prix then the Lionesses) but first of all we are minding the grandchildren for a couple of hours. Himself was going to take them on a bike ride but that seems pretty unlikely.

While Himself enjoys his best life this afternoon I will ring a couple of friends for a little catch up then sort my airport handbag for Tuesday.

The Boy Wonder will be SO excited today as his dad is taking him to the Man. Utd stadium up the road at 4pm to watch his first professional match. It’s a pre-season friendly. A big event for a 10y old!

No cooking this evening as we both fancy a curry from the Indian place we like round the corner. It’s a BYO so we will take a lush soft Pinot Noir. Happy Days.
?

Good morning from a grey Essex by the sea.
Yesterday we took the train to Stratford and had a walk around Westfield shopping centre, then we had a look at the Olympic Park before having lunch in a pub called Cow. We came home in time to watch The Charity Shield.
I've been trying to watch the video of DGD1 dancing in Paris but I think it needs to be on a bigger screen than my phone.
This morning a meeting for DH's Rugby boys then later the Lionesses football, come on England ??, then the Grand Prix highlights.
A busy day ahead.
Have a great Sunday everyone xx

cornergran Sun 31-Jul-22 07:50:36

Morning Mick, morning All from a wet, blustery corner of Somerset. The garden is thankful.

Friends arriving late morning for a few days. Their arrival has been changed a few times. Not to worry, I’m looking forward to some lighthearted company and hearing about their recent cruise. I’ll chat to our goddaughter while she reports on her visit to her Mum, can do that on speakerphone while I faff with food prep. Our friend seems to be holding her own, cardio vascular worries are being managed.

Take care everyone. Hope Sunday is kind to us all.

kittylester Sun 31-Jul-22 07:53:27

Good morning all from a cooler and greyish North Leicestershire. We seem to have had quite a bit of rain overnight.

Dd3 and co are coming for lunch today which means we will have to use the dining room as it is too much of a squeeze to use the kitchen table for 7 of us. That means I need to find a tablecloth!!

Gingster Sun 31-Jul-22 07:55:20

Good morning all and it’s grey here but the sky on the horizon is lightening.

DS2 and gd1 and 2 have been staying with us and are still snoozing upstairs. Unheard of with these 2 little live wires. Their mummy couldn’t come at the last minute as she felt too poorly. Overwork and too much running around, - I’m sure the couple of quiet days on her own have done her good. We ve missed her though, she’s a lovely girl and good company.

Yesterday was full on with sea swimming, boating lake, ball games , walking little pooch along the beach and bar b q til quite late into the evening. No wonder everyone is still ?????.

This morning will be busy again and they will leave after lunch.
Lovely having them but …oh the peace when theyve gone. , !
I haven’t got the energy that I used to have. ?

Wishing you all a pleasant day.?

GrannySomerset Sun 31-Jul-22 07:55:23

Light drizzle this morning, something we haven’t seen for a while. Church this morning in a flower decked medieval church willl be lovely but nothing else scheduled. May watch some of the competition in Birmingham and will keep an eye on events at Wembley even though I don’t have much interest in football.

Grandmabatty Sun 31-Jul-22 07:55:27

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 13° and very gloomy. I'm hoping ? it burns off to leave blue skies. Ashcombe the wedding sounds lovely. Brook send your sunshine here!
Yesterday disappeared. Once dgs1 had been picked up I spent the afternoon and evening napping after such a bad night's sleep. I slept well last night (for me) so hopefully my system has corrected itself.
Today will be gently pottering and doing housework. I noticed little fingerprints on my living room and kitchen windows where dgs1 wanted to look out, so I'll add window cleaner to the list. I'm making chicken with lemon for dinner. Followed by strawberries and ice cream. Have a good day all.

Marydoll Sun 31-Jul-22 07:56:52

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow. I had an awful night's sleep, feeling really weird. I think it's withdrawal symptoms from my meds, I have had this before.

DD has invited me to go with her to the car boot sale, near her new home, however, I'm not sure if I have the energy to walk round and I am a sucker for a bargain! .
The Ebay queen has a stall at one in Glasgow today and I have managed to get rid of stuff from our garage, which is not suitable for the charity shop.
I feel a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders, with the smallest of effort!
She has been advised to keep any profit she makes, she makes, because yesterday, she managed to pick up two massive planters for me, at an amazing price. They are almost as tall as me!
I only have one at the moment, because she had her Smart car with her and had to open the roof to get it in! I hadn't realised how large they were!

I finally got my spare room back yesterday and found a whole new wardrobe, which I had forgotten about, bought last year at the end of the summer sales.
However, the lodgers were back and forwards all day cadging meals!. I cannot complain, I have inherited a huge fridge freezer for my garage, they can't fit it in their kitchen. Result!

Greyduster, my smart meter switches off late every night, but is working again in the morning.

Wishing you all a pleasant day.

Kalu Sun 31-Jul-22 08:02:54

Good morning from an overcast Glasgow where a comfortable high of 19deg. and dry will find me pottering around the garden with a few coffee breaks thrown in, between tasks.

Nothing else planned for the day, just take it as it comes. DD2 is safely back in Australia, DGDs have returned from their holiday with family members and their children, we were so happy to see them for a short visit yesterday, both full of chatter about their exploits with cousins.

Hoping a good day is ahead for all.

EkwaNimitee Sun 31-Jul-22 08:11:29

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where it showered all yesterday and overnight. We may have more showers today but currently it is a lovely sunny day.
Greyduster, when you mentioned your energy monitor, for a moment I thought you were referring to yourself not an actual device! I was sympathising because I felt the same. However, my body's energy monitor now tells me it is keen to get up and at it preferably out in the garden.
Not unexpectedly, I still have a sore gum after the tooth removal and I'm a bit fed up with soft foods but have gone back to the initially forbidden alcohol! I do hope I haven't put anyone off dentists by describing my experience the other day but thanks for your kind thoughts. I generally find techniques and dentists' attitudes have improved since my younger days.

I wish you an enjoyable trip Mick.
I have decided I shall probably have to depart for mine a few days earlier than planned due to the train and tube strikes which don't look like being settled by the time I should be leaving. I've bought another train ticket and will stay with DS1 who has offered to drive me down to Dover on boat departure day.
Wishing you all a pleasant, relaxed Sunday.

Ali23 Sun 31-Jul-22 08:11:52

Good morning everyone from a damp Leicester.
Enjoy your trip tomorrow, Mick.
We’ve had rain for 2 nights running and definitely need more.
I’m waiting for the grass to grow green again ? I watched Monty Don doing some summer pruning on Friday, Grandmattie, and I think I’ll try with my apple tree today.
So I’ll think of you with your olive tree.
Happy Sunday, all.

Marydoll Sun 31-Jul-22 08:13:55

Kalu, pleased to see you posting again. Good to hear your daughter is safely home and hoping Mr Kalu is making good progress.

Its only 11° here. My ex colleagues living close to you, used to be shocked at leaving home on a winter's morning and suddenly finding snow here, where there was none up the road!
I think we live in a micro climate here! ?
I used to have to text everyone to warn them not to use the dams road! ❄
