No Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where the sun is just coming up from behind the Pennines. 1st August already! We are racing through summer.

We are sorted for our flight tomorrow afternoon but we have a job to do today. Clearing the hall and bedroom as a well recommended decorator will be working his magic whilst we are away. A neighbour has a key to let him in next week. Be good to have it all done for when we return!

BlueBalou Mon 01-Aug-22 06:05:46

Good morning!
I’m in the depths of the Somerset countryside for a watercolour course, it’s a beautiful venue.
No cooking, housework, shopping or gardening for 4 blissful days.
I have never done anything like this before so feeling very indulgent ?

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 01-Aug-22 06:09:41

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Urms - you’ve got decorators too! Ours are coming today at 8 am. They should be doing the kitchen, utility and larder first. Then the lounge and finally hall and landing. We aren’t sure how long it’s going to take but surely two or three days for each. I have a blood test this afternoon. I have been taking a statin this year and my GP has ordered a blood test. I’ll do my Waitrose shop afterwards and also collect a new wine rack which I ordered on the John Lewis website yesterday.

Good morning from a bright Torbay.

That sounds like an interesting trip, Mick so I hope you enjoy the break and have safe journeys.

Yesterday, we spent time with some of the wedding guests over breakfast, including the bride's grandmother who is French so was delighted to converse with DH in her native language. Photos are being shared on social media so here’s one taken by DH. It was a lovely occasion.

A busy day with shopping, exercise class and the Technical Rehearsal tonight, which our director, now home from hospital, hopes to attend. Our Covid victims are all well again so we have to keep ?that there are no more cases.

I hope today brings you reasons to smile. ?????

Good morning from a bright E Kent. We had a teeny bit of rain last night.
I was in bed, half asleep, when DS knocked on my door to say there was a leak in the kitchen? A leak? No, a burst pipe under the sink, squirting water all into the cupboard, flooding th3 floor! I quickly found the stopcock and switched the water off. Cue much mopping and squeezing of towels and mops.
At the same time, half the house was in the dark due to some coincidental power problem. That was sorted by resetting the fuse.
No water at all this morning - no coffee, no shower…. How blessed we are to have running water in the house? The plumber opens at 0800, so I’ll be on the phone on the dot!
DS and I hacked at the olive tree - it is supposed to be head height but was at least twice that. Got a date at the dump to take the pruning. Before and after pics.
Just the plumber asap today. DS is meeting DGS for lunch.
Have a good day all. Carpe diem. ?????

Morning Mick and all

Enjoy your trip Mick, I have fond memories of Harrogate.

The 5 yr old had me awake at 6am, the 2 year old at 6.22 am. One is watching kids U tube in one bedroom the other CBeeBees in his bed, it’s going to be a very long day.

Hopefully take them to a small zoo play park nearby later honed by DD and The Imp.

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

GrannyGravy13 Mon 01-Aug-22 06:46:11

Oh dear grandMattie what a bother, hope it’s all sorted soon x

Marydoll Mon 01-Aug-22 06:49:01

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where it's currently only 7°C!

Ash, what a beautiful photo! The church and of course the bride are beautiful.

I have a proper empty today, DH is golfing and the lodgers have finally left, so I shall after three months be able to have my music playing, throughout the Sonos system, as I put my home back in order.
Its takes me ages to do anything just now, my constant stomach pain is slowing me down so much and consequently making it difficult to be upbeat. .

I went to the rather small car boot sale yesterday, near DD's new home. It was all a bit surreal, with a couple of men playing a harp and lute at the entrance. ???
What was heartening was, that there was a battalion of litterpickers, out clearing up. DD did it when she lived in Paisley and plans to join the merry band in the village. Its a great idea.
We were hardly there for more than twenty minutes.
I did however, manage to secure a bargain, which was a Debenham's, designer range dress, complete with tags for £4! It just needs a tweek at the shoulders.
My excuse, despite saying I wasn't buying any more clothes, is that, I do need to fill up the empty drawers etc., which the lodgers have handed back to me. ?

I gave DD and SIL a lift back up the hill, with the intention of seeing what I could purloin from their garden.
DD had promised me two trees in pots, which she didn't want, but changed her mind yesterday, when I said I thought they were fruit trees. They were indeed, an apple and a pear tree! The wee besom had built my hopes up, only to change her mind and renege on her promise. ?
What I also discovered at the bottom of her garden, was an apple tree, with a cornucopia of fruit. I can't wait to get baking!

Enjoy your trip Mick, I'm so envious.

Wishing you all a pleasant day, and a gentle one for all who are struggling.

Good morning all from East Yorkshire. It’s overcast here but warm.

Safe journey to Yorkshire Mick hope you enjoy the days ahead.

Yesterday DH did some work in the garden. When I went in the kitchen it looked like a farm shop as he’d picked a couple of boxes full of big juicy blackberries and a small amount of blackcurrants. I’ll enclose a photo. I froze half the blackberries, cooked some of them and still a few in the fridge I’m undecided what to do with.

A few pottering jobs to do here today.

Hope you get your sink issue sorted GM

Enjoy your day Grannygravy look forward to putting your feet up later.

Well done to the Lionesses a great result.

Take care everyone.

Grandmadinosaur Mon 01-Aug-22 07:04:55

Good morning all from a bright North Leicestershire.

My usual Monday Dementia Course today - we are making Eton Mess today and I hope to be able to bring some home. DH is doing a volunteer drive today.

We had a lovely day with DD3 and co yesterday. They are obsessed with playing Happy Families at the moment so we had a fun afternoon.

Have the best day you can everyone.

ginny Mon 01-Aug-22 07:12:21

Morning Mick, morning All. Light cloud over our corner of Somerset.

Autopilot this morning after little sleep. Thank goodness we’re all going out for lunch. Not sure what else we’ll be doing.

Goodness, grandmattie, what a kerfuffle, hope soon sorted. Enjoy your break mick, sounds a full few days. Safe travels maw and all out on the roads. Lovely photo ash, a joyous occasion.

Jaxjacky Mon 01-Aug-22 07:20:05

Good morning all from an overcast, dry S Hants, 18 already.
Have a lovely trip Mick and you enjoy your deserved indulgence Blue sounds great.
On no grandMattie what a rude awakening, hopefully soon fixed.
Delightful picture Ashcombe good luck tonight.
I’ll be off to the farm shop soon, no potatoes in the house! I’ve also got two new hanging baskets to pick up from Argos.
It’ll be a salad for dinner, we’re due 27 deg later.
Enjoy your day all with some ??l

BlueSapphire Mon 01-Aug-22 07:23:17

Good morning everyone from a grey and rather dull Northampton. Was rather hoping to see rain, but not to be. Yesterday lunchtime I heard a rather unusual sound - yes it was rain - the heavens opened an the rain fell down like ramrods for about 10 minutes, then the sun came out and it all dried up.

Spent a pleasant afternoon at the cinema with friends watching the new Railway Children film, but have to say I was slightly underwhelmed by it; in no way did it live up to the much loved original, and I was a bit disappointed.

Yoga this morning then home to do some tidying up and await the plumber who is coming to finish off in the bathroom, just some sealing to do around the loo - and to give me his bill!

Enjoy your break away in Yorkshire, Mick, and also your sojourn in Norfolk, Maw. And enjoy your art course Balou.

Wishing all a good Monday.

Gwenisgreat1 Mon 01-Aug-22 07:25:08

Good morning all from sunny Harrogate
Hope you get your plumbing sorted Grandmattie. Your shrub looks interesting.
If you have time to spare in Harrogate Mick we can meet up?
The wedding photo is lovely Ashcombe
Those brambles look lovely grandmadinasaur - how about a fruit crumble? Or jam?
What a disappointment Marydoll offering with one hand and taking away with the other!
Today I shall be washing sheets, keeping in touch with my friend by phone, and finding out why the surgery won’t let me have any prescriptions!!
Have the best day possible folks!

Kalu Mon 01-Aug-22 07:33:57

Good morning all from Glasgow where it is a sunny fresh morning although not quite warm enough to have my kick start espresso al fresco, I am content to sit in a sun filled kitchen before I hang out a washing. Further plans for today are to finish off some topiary work I started yesterday, possibly some spray painting as it isn’t a windy day and make a haddock chowder for dinner. I will also look at my to do list - again!??‍♀️

Have a pleasant Monday and gentle hugs for those of you who are struggling through another day.

ShazzaKanazza Mon 01-Aug-22 07:41:45

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull.
Have a lovely few days away Mick safe journey and to you too MawtheMerrier in Norfolk. Enjoy your family time.

grandMattie that’s not nice to be woken up too. Hope your plumber can be quickly out to you once you’ve called them.
Enjoy your art courses Bluebalou and Ginny.

Your blackberries look very tasty Grandmadinosaur.

We have DGS arriving soon when DS drops him off on his way to work. Not sure what to do today. It’s rained overnight so I think an early park trip could be out.
Yesterday DD and SIL did well running the 10k they got round in an hour. Such a mixed group of runners there were 700. I was in awe of every one of them.

Enjoy your day everyone . Safe journey to those travelling. Thoughts to those struggling with illness and family worries. ??

NannyJan53 Mon 01-Aug-22 07:44:56

Good morning from an overcast but warm Black Country.

Monday walk this morning, then home for about 12ish, lunch then pop into town for last minute bits and pieces for our trip away, to Glastonbury then onto Lyme Regis.

What a match last night! I rarely watch football, but I was gripped.

Not the sort of hassle you need right now grandMattie I hope you find a plumber quickly.

Wishing you all a pleasant day

Grandmadinosaur Mon 01-Aug-22 07:47:38

I forgot to wish all the Yorkshire Grans a Happy Yorkshire Day today.

Chrissielou Mon 01-Aug-22 07:49:13

A grey start in West Oxfordshire this morning, we had a little rain yesterday which made for a very humid afternoon. Busy picking tomatoes daily, both cherry and larger ones for sauce. I will make and freeze sauce and soup, which is handy in the coming months. Back to work today, I'm doing a few 4 day weeks which is lovely, shame it's not permanent.
I hope you all find some sunshine and laughter today.

Gingster Mon 01-Aug-22 07:55:15

Good morning all and it’s a light skyed Suffolk coast. Warm and still!
We will tidy up, wash bedding and generally get the cottage back in order after ds1 and dgd’s visit. The girls were great, full of fun with no fuss or hissy fits, agreed to all suggestions and ate everything on offer. They are 10 and 8 , so haven’t reached ‘that’ age yet!

Blue that watercolour course sound great. I’d love to do that.

Mick enjoy Nidd Hall - I stayed there a few years back and it’s a lovely place.

GM - good luck with getting the plumber out. ?. You deserve a bit of good luck ?.

Grandmadinosaur those blackberries - Wow! Ours are tiny little shrivelled up green things.

GG - Hadleigh country park farm is good for littlies and a romp over Hadleigh castle ruins. Running up and down the hills would tire them out nicely. And you, of course! ?.

Marydoll enjoy your empty and getting your house back in order, but don’t overdo it. Pace yourself.

Have a pleasant day, all ?
