Argh! Where do lost things go?

I have lost my tweezers. They weren’t expensive but were a lovely shade of pink and lived in the bathroom. They have gone, I know not where. I’ve looked everywhere they could possibly be but cannot find them. A monobrow is now developing - suppose I could just grow my fringe or else go and buy another pair. I know what will happen then, the pink ones will turn up!

I bet the last time you used them, you got distracted and laid them down somewhere off the beaten track!

Or someone else has ‘borrowed’ them and not put them back in the bathroom?

Whatever, I hope you find them. It’s sooo annoying when you can’t locate something.

These days I find that things I put down have disappeared within seconds before I turn back to pick them up again.

Hope your tweezers turn up again soon, Katek. Sometimes you can fool lost thing A by starting to look very hard for thing B (whether you have lost thing B or not). Thing A then turns up where you left it just to spite you.

Dressing gown pocket? any pocket?

Once found a baby tooth my GS lost in a pocket of my gardening overall. How it got there from under his pillow in the middle of the night remains a mystery to this day, but the tooth fairy paid up OK!

Pray:

"Dear St Anthony, full of grace,
Lead me to their hiding place"

He just found something else I'd lost

We have been looking for a tower cooling fan for 2 weeks- but we did find it this morning. So patience and most things do eventually turn up (or not ).

Callistemon21 I have St. Anthony on speed dial, and I am not even a Catholic.

Look under the sofa cushions wink

Callistemon21 I have St. Anthony on speed dial, and I am not even a Catholic.

I'm not Catholic either GrannyGravy but he has helped me several times.

I should have asked him first yesterday instead of making phone calls, franticall backtracking over last weekend.

Perhaps they’ve eloped with MissA’s watering can!

NotSpaghetti Wed 03-Aug-22 15:40:40

Maybe Georgesgran... or maybe they are with all the lost socks?

Blossoming Wed 03-Aug-22 15:47:35

They may be in our hall cupboard. It’s full of stuff I don’t recognise.

Casdon Wed 03-Aug-22 15:52:17

I think they have gone to the same place as my secateurs. I’ve lost three pairs this year, despite the fact that my garden is quite tidy. So annoying.

JackyB Wed 03-Aug-22 16:47:01

They will be in the first place you looked. But only the third time you look there.

I always ask St Anthony as well if I loose something..My mum said you say
Dear St Anthony please look down
Somethings lost and can't be found.
You then say three hail Mary's.
My dad used to roll his eyes every time we said this...smile

Witzend Wed 03-Aug-22 17:11:56

Buy another pair anyway. Then you’ll have a spare for when they go missing again.
I always keep some in my bag now, after more than once realising (in the car, on the way somewhere) that an ‘interesting’ chin hair has sprouted when I wasn’t looking.

Gin Wed 03-Aug-22 17:18:45

I have recently rediscovered lost items: TWO pairs of secateurs in the compost bin when I emptied it out; a pair of reading glasses amongst the runner beans and my night radio head phones under the mattress!

Chewbacca Wed 03-Aug-22 17:19:53

Well St Anthony still hasn't divulged where he hid that box of poly filla that had lived happily in the cupboard under the sink for 2 years. Nor the craft scissors that cut paper so cleanly. Nor the little pointed garden trowel that a colleague bought me. He's a kleptomaniac!

Oldnproud Wed 03-Aug-22 17:25:01

How big is the plughole in your bathroom basin - could they have slipped down there? Or been dropped in the bin as you put something else, such as a tissue, in it?

Lucca Wed 03-Aug-22 17:33:38

I put things into my bag which then vanish leaving me screaming with frustration about where my pills glasses have gone.

Also what a silly expression “it’s always in the last place you look “ Obviously

fairfraise Wed 03-Aug-22 17:47:08

I found my tweezers last week. They were in a skirt pocket in the wardrobe, when I tried it on to see what it looked like. I hadn't used them for about 2 months and was borrowing the "spare pair" from the model railway tool kit.

ShazzaKanazza Wed 03-Aug-22 17:48:42

We lost my DHs garden sunglasses the other day. We checked every where including the windowsill where they always usually are. I spotted them after looking for days on said windowsill sitting on top of a pair of binoculars. I made him play Hot and Cold to find them lol. Goodness knows how he couldn’t see them I always say it’s a man thing.

Daisend1 Wed 03-Aug-22 17:53:59

Without a doubt 'oh there you are' ? and frequently in the last place I would have expected them/it to be.

Katek Wed 03-Aug-22 18:30:56

Well, I’ve bitten the bullet and ordered a new pair from A——n which should be here tomorrow. I’ve even got DH on the hunt, he’s been checking out the washing machine/dryer in case they were in a pocket. Not to find them for me, you understand, but in case they damaged the machines. In any event they weren’t there, but at least the filters have had a good clean.

Sometimes I think that I don't live in a house, but in a black hole .
Here's something which disappears regularly unless kept in the original box - one shoe and never a pair .
There's socks of course - the ones that disappear in the wash .
Hairbrushes .
I now have one on a ribbon on the bathroom door .

Scissors .

Knives .

And teaspoons !

My father throws them away !
