MawtheMerrier Thu 04-Aug-22 06:44:03

Good morning all from sunny (bored now, please can’t rain?) N Bucks.
Came home last night and pretty zonked after my 500 ish mile round trip in 3 days. No traffic problems this time but driving 100 miles S/SW starting at 6 on a sunny August evening meant I did at least half the journey with my left hand raised shielding my eyes, as being a short-arse, the sun visor on the car doesn’t come down low enough to stop the sun dazzling me at times. My sunglasses didn’t help much as they reduce visibility in the shadier parts.
Does anybody else have this problem? Fortunately it was mostly dual carriageway and I know that road now but tiring. Looking forward now to seeing Rosie who I am picking up at 8.30 and you all a pleasant day.???

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry and bright, I’ve just opened the bedroom curtains and the sun is trying to shine through the grey cloud
Thanks to Pantglas for opening up and the champagne breakfast too!
It’s another early and quick visit from me today as DGC stayed over last night and they’ll be up soon
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

dragonfly46 Thu 04-Aug-22 06:44:23

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.

Thanks for opening Pantglass.
Up early as we are off to Brighton for the weekend.
It is Gay Pride and I suspect we will be babysitting!

Wishing everyone a good day.

Jaxjacky Thu 04-Aug-22 06:47:33

Morning from ? in S Hampshire.
Not sure what the celebration is Pantglas but I’m poised!
Voluntary phones today, lunch with a friend and a couple of my phone calls to make, that’s my plans. The usual watering and washing, last day with the hose, for watering that is.
I’ll pop back ?

grandMattie Thu 04-Aug-22 06:50:29

Good morning from a slightly cooler, overcast E Kent.
Thanks, Pant, for opening up. You have a celebration?
Had an odd day yesterday. I went to the hygienist and while she was poking around in my mouth asked if she could say something personal. Puzzled, I said yes. Apparently, while wearing her magnifying spectacles, she noticed that a large mole near my collarbone had three suspicious looking tiny growths and that I should see a doctor in the near future! Once home, I spoke to the surgery and mirabile dictu, a doctor telephoned within a couple of hours, and another couple later I was being examined …. She isn’t that bothered, but with my history, she has referred me for an nurse t dermatology appointment. (I was brought up in the tropics and my father had loads of both basal cell and squamous cell cancers.). I was impressed.
The rest of the day was spent ironing, sorting and packing books and DVDs to take to Oxfam this morning, making use of DS on his last day here.
May today bring a scintilla of joy to your lives. Carpe diem. ❤️?????

grandMattie Thu 04-Aug-22 06:52:10

Nurse t= urgent ?

Grandmadinosaur Thu 04-Aug-22 06:59:36

Good morning all from East Yorkshire. There is a blue sky with a few clouds.
Thank you pantglas

Today we are off to Bridlington for an overnight stay. Looking forward to exploring the North Bay a little - we usually spend time in the south bay or central.
Had news yesterday that sent our heads spinning so it will be time to relax and mull it over. I’ll share with you when things are clearer.
That was prompt service GM and well spotted.
Take care everyone.

Nannagarra Thu 04-Aug-22 07:21:33

Good morning from somewhat cloudy Sefton.
Had a busy day yesterday with DGD at riding school. The early start meant I didn’t get on GM.
Preparing for new hallway flooring and much in need of any ideas on how to prevent floorboards creaking. Can the grans help, please?
Meeting friends this afternoon. Tea and cake await.
Whatever your plans, I hope it causes you to smile.

ShazzaKanazza Thu 04-Aug-22 07:21:53

Good Morning Pantglas and everyone from Hull. It’s due to be cooler today.

Granmadinosaur enjoy your overnight in Bridlington.
GrandMattie that was very good service and ? that mole is ok. Enjoy your sons company on his last day. ?

Maw pleased you are home safely.

dragonfly enjoy Brighton. We’ve always fancied going I imagine it’s a place with a great atmosphere and full of fun and colour.

Today I’m going to the gym again. I enjoyed it yesterday. DH played walking football yesterday and scored 9 out of the 11 goals his team won by. He come home very proud.
I’m going to make pancakes for breakfast with bacon cheese and beans so must get on with them.

Have a good day everyone. Safe travels and thoughts to those with illness and stress. ??

kittylester Thu 04-Aug-22 07:23:00

Good morning all from my bit of Leicestershire where it has clouded over a little.

DH is already up as he has a blood test at 8am. I am helping at a dementia cafe this morning and we have a Sainsbury's delivery later.

monk08 Thu 04-Aug-22 07:24:11

Good morning all from the Black country, sunny again although we did manage some rain yesterday morning.
Not sure of plans for the day but meeting friends later at the club.
Thanks for opening Pantglas
GM that's some service, they say its important to visit the dentist they can spot many things. Enjoy the last day of your sons stay.
Best wishes to anyone celebrating and safe travels for those on the move, virtual hugs where needed.
Enjoy your Thursday and may you all find some ?.

Grandmabatty Thu 04-Aug-22 07:24:56

Good morning all from Polmont where it's 12° and a mixture of clouds and sun. It feels cool out. I'm feeling a bit better today. Second covid test was negative too. Grandmattie that was an eagle eyes hygienist! It's good that it's being dealt with promptly.
Nothing planned for me today. I'm staying home and resting. Have a good day all.

NannyJan53 Thu 04-Aug-22 07:29:40

Good morning from a blue skied Black Country.

Off to Burnham for one night today. Caravan out of storage, then off to Glastonbury Friday for the Extravaganza there. Paloma Faith is the headline act. Then Sunday travelling to Lyme Regis for a week.

Phew! That is some driving Maw not sure I could do that now,

Very prompt service grandMattie glad it seems to be of no real concern.

Hope your news is not too worrying Grandmadinosaur

Wishing you all a good week, as I doubt I will be posting for a while, as my GN on my phone doesn't recognise my password so I cannot log in.

cornergran Thu 04-Aug-22 07:36:50

Morning All. Light cloud over our corner of Somerset.

Our friends are off home today, it’s been a chatty, fun if exhausting time. Some putting things back to normal here once they are gone, laundry, laundry and more laundry to come. Two of ours have covid, a ‘present’ from holiday, sound pretty poorly.

Excellent care grandmattie, good to hear. Not surprised you are tired maw. I’m tall-ish but still have that low sun issue. Hope the progress continues grandmabatty. Are you celebrating pantglas? Thanks for opening this morning.

Safe travels to all on the move, take care everyone. Hope Thursday is kind to us all.

Ashcombe Thu 04-Aug-22 07:38:57

Good morning, all, from a sunny Torbay.

I’m glad your GP reacted swiftly and that you will see a dermatologist swiftly, grandMattie. What an observant hygienist!

Enjoy whatever you’re celebrating, Pantglas2! Rest and recover from your tedious drive, Maw! Safe travels, Grandmadinosaur and dragonfly46!

Last night a wheel jammed on the revolving part of the stage (used to create three scenes in ‘Allo, ‘Allo) but our wonderful young technician and stage manager fixed it between them during the break. DH is starting to enjoy his first appearance on stage, due in part to the lovely supportive cast.

Enjoy your day, whatever betides. ?????

Gingster Thu 04-Aug-22 07:40:24

Good morning all and what a hot, sticky night it was. The foxes were out and about in force , squealing and fighting , making a terrible din, so not much sleep was had ?.

Little DGD6 and I spent a lovely 1hr and a half in the library yesterday. Lots for the youngsters to do and look for. Dgd2 is working voluntarily there during the holidays, so it was lovely to see her too.

We then went into The Works and bought some craft for her to do when we got home. Dd is feeling good at all so DGD stayed with us . Such a good girl and lovely to have around, but I was shattered by evening. ?.

Well done GM and your hygienist re the mole! Enjoy your last day with your DS .

This heat is draining me, I do wish we had some cooling rain.
It’s not in the forecast at all! ☹️

Shopping today so will spend some time in a/c . ?.

I hope you all have as good a day as you can ?

Pittcity Thu 04-Aug-22 07:43:02

Good morning from a brightening Colchester. Feeling much cooler this morning. Yesterday became very hot, humid and oppressive. No rain to break it so I assume it blew over in the night.
Leaving for a day with my sister visiting our parents on the South coast. Dad doesn't travel far any more so it's up to us to make the long drive there and back.
Love to all ?x

Greyduster Thu 04-Aug-22 07:43:56

Good morning all GNs and Michael in absentia. The sun is shining in South Yorkshire. GS went home last night after another (fairly) busy day of gardening. (Well, half day - teenagers don’t get up very early!). He finally got his hands on the hedge trimmer and made a good job of things but was disappointed I wouldn’t let him go up a ladder to cut the top?. He cleared out and dug over the lower bed and planted up “grandad’s garden”. We made a half hearted start on the garage but we were both flagging a bit by then and it was hot. Today it is quiet again here and I plan to tidy up and then spend some time on a painting I started when we were on holiday. DS and DiL are coming down this weekend so I shall have to give some consideration to the catering.
Have a good day, one and all.

Gwenisgreat1 Thu 04-Aug-22 07:50:36

Good morning all from sunny ☀️ Harrogate
Thank you for your words of comfort yesterday- they helped.
Thank you Pantglas for opening up. I haven’t heard from Mick so he must be enjoying himself with a busy routine.
I had a Drs appointment yesterday which was not a lot of help, today I have the dentist! I also have a Sainsburies delivery this morning.
Don’t think I’ve any moles for the dentist to spot GrandMattie that was good for you to be re-assured.
Have the best day possible folks

ginny Thu 04-Aug-22 07:51:43

Good morning from a bright N. Bucks. We had a downpour yesterday but it didn’t have much effect on the garden.

Today I am meeting DD1 and we are going to the Lavender Farm. We will have a wander, cut some lavender and have lunch.
On line drawing class this evening.

Wishing all a good day

Chrissielou Thu 04-Aug-22 07:54:23

A cloudy start here in Oxfordshire, but no doubt it will once again be warm and very dry. Spoke to a local farmer yesterday who had already gathered in the harvest and ploughed, he said it was a month early.
DD1 struggling with the heat, yet another side effect of chemo and steroids, 2 more to go so she is nearly there, it's been a very long 8 months.
Family picnic to look forward to at the weekend, hugs and cuddles from GC and plenty of ice cream and Frisbee throwing no doubt smile

Urmstongran Thu 04-Aug-22 07:55:56

No Matt.

Good morning everyone from Malaga. Another day in Paradise! (for me - I know it’d be too hot for some). Another day in the gardens I think. A swimsuit and sarong is perfect attire for this weather! ??

I’ve fired up my iPod so part of the day will be spent listening to favourite songs with my ear buds in situ. “The Best of the Beachboys” will bring back memories from 2020 when I played those songs marching up and down the landing during the 9 week State of Emergency. Imagine not even being allowed to leave the building - not even for a walk or go into the gardens! I wouldn’t go back to that for a gold clock - looking back it was pretty draconian and I know it affected a good few people mentally.

The saga of the prickly eyelashes continues. Day 7 now. Aargh! When I wake during the night I’m so aware of them. They’ve not loosened whilst swimming in the pool nor under a shower. I think she must’ve used Araldite to stick the buggers on! I can hardly wait for them to drop off.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 04-Aug-22 07:57:52

Morning all from a grey and muggy West Oxfordshire. Just waiting for the decorators to arrive. They will be working on the hall and landing today. Will OH throw up his hands in horror when he sees the raspberry pink on the walls?!

Urmstongran Thu 04-Aug-22 08:01:31

Have a lovely holiday NannyJan I love Paloma Faith! see you when you get back ?
