Jax I echo Grannmarie's comment regarding the lovely Imogen.

Grannmarie Wow! We have watched the sea plane from the shores of Loch Lomond. Lucky, lucky you. That is one super special treat.

varian You must have had the most spectacular views when you flew in the sea plane. We know Oban very well. I am a tad envious.

You lovely lot may have heard much profanities being uttered as I blitzed the all purpose work-room yesterday afternoon. hmm How can so much useless stuff fill so little space? It too all afternoon to clear the decks. At one point, I sat amid the detritus and almost gave up. Thankfully, the job was completed and I am now feeling just a wee bit holy. wink

This afternoon's task is to clear two book cases...especially the bottom shelf beside my arm chair. The shelf is the bolt hole for all manner of useless stuff.

Mr Soop has made me a sandwich made with "ancient grains bread". I shall also have a Pink Lady apple and apple juice. After which...you know what.

I am not disappearing for the rest of the afternoon. I shall return a little later to report on the state of play. grin

Charleygirl5 Fri 02-Sept-22 14:21:57

It is about time Sweetie Pie returned for a hearty meal or three.

My kitchen traumas continue. yesterday's tiler did not turn up. Today's arrived at 7.45 am, woke my neighbours with his hammering and banging and left at 10.30 am because he has toothache.

The small amount of work he has done is to a very high standard but I am not interested in discovering at what angle each tile has to be cut. Just do the job and get out.

He has left his tools here and is apparently arriving with a mate tomorrow. He will not be leaving with his tools until the work is finished. I do not want to be using the microwave for my C lunch in December. This has been going on since the 3rd of August (this year). A good job I am fairly patient but that is wearing thin.

soop you have had excellent practice at de-cluttering, please may I book you for this house?

TOYA

Jaxjacky Fri 02-Sept-22 14:54:11

Charleygirl whilst soop is decluttering, would you like MrJ, a ceramic tiler for over 30 years, to finish the job, now?

soop Fri 02-Sept-22 16:54:56

Charleyg Goodness gracious me! You deserve a sainthood, methinks. Pity that you cannot accept Jax's kind offer.

This afternoon's decluttering has knackered exhausted me good and proper. Yet, it was very worth the effort. Mr S will be visiting the tip sometime soon with masses of stuff that can be recycled.

I shall now read through your latest messages. No bike riding for me today. Hope that Blossoming understands. wink

soop Fri 02-Sept-22 17:06:35

Grannygravy I love your post. In a way, I'm relieved not to have the means of scrolling (other than on the puter).
May I add, most girls like handbags and as you suggest...wink

Llfl Good! I'm relieved to hear that your melt-down friend behaved and that you both enjoyed your lunchtime treat.
Try not to worry unduly about the telephone message from the GP. On Monday, you will be in a better position to discuss the facts and what can be done to improve matters. flowers

Nannytopsy Fergus is a very lucky boy to have you for a grannie. smile

Sweetie Pie feral cat was missing for almost a fortnight. We were both dismayed and hoped to goodness that she hadn't met with an accident. And then, two days ago, there she was. She ate six pouches of food and a bowl of cat biscuits (over two meals) before wandering off into her forest. She is a free spirit. Long may she remain so.

I am away to enjoy a much needed brew. Later, as it's Friday, I shall lift a glass of delicious red wine and raise a toast to you lovely lot...thank you for making our kitchen such a pleasant place in which to gather. smile moon

Blossoming Fri 02-Sept-22 19:24:14

Good evening lovely Kitcheners. I’m full to busting after a lovely leisurely pub lunch with Mr. B. I’m not going to be cycling today either Soop. I’m really sleepy! I hope you enjoyed your day GrannMarie.

Virtual group hug, my concentration is gone! TOYA flowers

Charleygirl5 Fri 02-Sept-22 19:36:12

Jax that would be a superb idea. I had no idea that tiles fitted diagonally were such a problem. Replacing two ordinary floor tiles is another story. I am aware that there are problems with every job but the householder does not have to learn about every minute problem and also whoever fitted them originally did not do a good job. Just finish the job and leave.

I think the pair of them will work until they finish even if it is 8 pm tomorrow. That would suit me fine because the grout and possibly the adhesive has to be dry before the electrician arrives on Wednesday.

Jax I promise to look after him, feeding and watering him!

Sweetie Pie knows which side her bread is buttered. As I have said before I may well move in-at least I could help with the energy bills.

TOYA

Hoping grannmarie has had a wonderful trip in the sea plane today, can’t wait to hear about it!
Hoping your tiler gets a move on Charleygirl and your kitchen is finished soon
Well the weather turned out hot and sunny again this afternoon and we enjoyed a wonderful walk along rollercoaster cliff tops to Durdle Door and Lulworth cove. The views were amazing and I’m going to bed happy tonight in the little shepherd's hut. I can hear the birds singing and there’s sheep in the field next to us.
Beautiful picture of Imogen Jax
Sleep well everyone

Jaxjacky Fri 02-Sept-22 20:20:10

He’s yours Charleygirl just shout!
Sounds so magical brook and you’ve described it beautifully.
For whatever reason, I checked earlier and my car tax was due yesterday, no reminder sent, thank goodness for online!
We’ve just fired up the central heating to check it’s working and set the family bathroom radiator to 0, it’s not used much, the occasional bath for me, generally we shower.
Thanks to llfl for some restaurant recommendations she’s made us, we’re off soon for a few days Oxford, it’ll rain then!
Enjoy your evening x

Hellogirl1 Fri 02-Sept-22 21:43:03

Brook, you`ve taken me back many years to when we walked along the cliff top from Durdle Door to Lulworth Cove. Also the climb down from the cliff top to Durdle Door beach, a lovely beach, but a bugger to get to and from!

Grannmarie Fri 02-Sept-22 21:45:59

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people!

Thank you for all your good wishes, and the kind PM, for our sea plane trip. You know I was a bit nervous...but it was absolutely amazing! The staff and pilot were very welcoming and reassuring. My butterflies ? left me and I felt quite calm and enjoyed every minute of the 45 min trip, which literally flew in as we were so engrossed in the wonderful views, and trying to capture some half decent photos. There was quite a bit of cloud, but I managed a couple of clear photos over the lochs and islands.
It was a wonderful experience, we sent photos and many thanks on our Family chat.

Grannmarie Fri 02-Sept-22 21:53:08

We rounded off our holiday week with a delicious meal at Duck Bay, then managed to drive home just before dark. We've been blessed to have enjoyed a lovely week after the worrying weeks of early summer, and I am very thankful. ??

Wishing you all the best weekend possible,
?*TOYA, NNGB*. ?

Bellanonna Fri 02-Sept-22 21:59:07

Great news, Grannmarie! I was sure you’d love the plane trip!

Grannmarie Fri 02-Sept-22 22:04:32

Thank you, Bellanonna, I was so afraid my nerves would get the better of me. Your reassurance was much appreciated!?

Jaxjacky Fri 02-Sept-22 22:10:50

Wow Grannmarie what a special day and a brilliant end to your week.

Grannmarie Fri 02-Sept-22 22:16:02

Thanks, Jaxjacky, it certainly was!

Enjoy your time in Oxford, ? for lots of ?.

Nannytopsy Sat 03-Sept-22 09:28:07

Hello everyone! A flying visit as DS, DGS & DGD are coming for tea. Steak pie to make as it’s DGS’s favourite, despite his claim to be a vegetarian! I haven’t bought the steak yet …
Enjoy your weekend everyone - it looks like you are all getting rain, while we are still full on drought in Suffolk.

soop Sat 03-Sept-22 12:57:20

Grannmarie Your photographs are testament to the beauty of the scenery. You obviously enjoyed your treat immensely. So very happy for you.
By the way, Mr S and I have had the pleasure of a meal at Duck Bay. It was a number of years ago. I would like to return sometime.

Nannytopsy I am partial to home-made steak pie. Not that I ever bake it but...I do know that it tastes far superior to the shop-bought variety.

brook Your post is truly inspiring. I can well visualise the wonderful excursions that you have made. The description of preparing for sleep in the little shepherd's hut is quite magical.

Jax Travel well and enjoy the beautiful city of Oxford. I recall that there is a superb indoor market. Also a pub somehow connected with the late John Thaw (when he was in the tv drama, Morse)

soop Sat 03-Sept-22 13:01:44

Blossoming I may take it easy today. However, the bike may tempt me to pedal for a short-ish ride. If so, I shall listen to the Platters as they sing in perfect harmony.

Blossoming Sat 03-Sept-22 13:19:33

Soop I’m taking it easy today as well but I will do some cycling whilst listening to my book. I love ‘Washed Ashore’!

So pleased you enjoyed the flight GrannMarie, stunning photos.

Jaxjacky Sat 03-Sept-22 14:09:26

No rain here Nannytopsy, I wish there was.
soop we’re booked on a 2 hour walking tour ‘Morse, Lewis and Endeavour’ I believe a pub or two may be involved!

annsixty Sat 03-Sept-22 15:07:43

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend, it is cloudy but warm here.
Brook my H and I did many of the walks you are doing but only 2/3 in a two week holiday.
We only took up walking in our late 40’s and bought a touring caravan.
We walked many coastal paths and also the Lake District, Yorkshire, Cotswolds.
They were lovely times and so many memories.
Oxford is another of our haunts, our D and family live near the S coast so we would stay a couple of nights in Premier Inn or the like near Oxford and sightsee to break our journey on the way to stay with them.
I hope you are all enjoying or will enjoy your visits.

I was very tired when we got back from Southport but it was a pleasant break with beautiful weather and I only had to bite my tongue a few times although I did once apologise to a member of staff for my friend’s impatience.

A very humble meal here tonight, I have no shop this week and am raiding the freezer so it’s sausage and mash with onion gravy.
Enjoy your evening to the best of your ability everyone.

soop Sat 03-Sept-22 15:39:13

annsixty Please set a place for me at your table. grin

Jax Yep! I have visited one of the pubs. The name escapes me. It could be part of a hotel.

Pittcity Sat 03-Sept-22 15:54:40

annsixty we had that last night.....food of the gods!
