Jax thank you so much for thinking of sending Mr J in my direction to finish off the job but the two bosses and the tiler with the toothache turned up 30 minutes early.

He had toothache all week and had a dental appointment booked for yesterday. He was brought to my house to put a smile on my face but after my comments this am the boss had the grace to blush and discovered I was not a walkover and I can stand up for myself.

The mate arrived shortly after and the work was finished to a very high standard- I am delighted. They left at 3 pm.

Jax at least I did not have to check Mr J was ready to work and did not have a split nail or an ingrowing toenail.

The electrician returns on Wednesday and by evening I will be able to cook again.

Right! 40 mins on bike. Now ready to enjoy a brew and catch up with responding to emails.

Have a pleasant evening, dear peoples. I shall do my utmost to join you all in our kitchen tomorrow. smile moon

Well done Soop! Only 30 minutes for me, followed by an hour’s Gaelic.
We are having mince and tatties with onion gravy. Mr.B is always amused at the way I’ll eat almost anything with mash and gravy.
Jax I worked on a project in Oxford pre brain injury and we sometimes stayed at The Randolph Hotel, which I think features in the Morse books.
I’m glad you had a good weekend Annsixty.
You must be relieved to have the tiling finished Charleygirl fingers crossed the electrics get sorted too.

Early night for me, I haven’t been sleeping well and struggling to stay awake during the day, heaven help me when the clocks change next month!

Bellanonna Sat 03-Sept-22 17:20:13

Yes ann, that’s not humble at all. Glad to hear you had a lovely break at Southport and that there were no major “friend” issues.

Bellanonna Sat 03-Sept-22 17:25:28

Phew, Charleygirl, good news indeed!

Charleygirl5 Sat 03-Sept-22 18:00:19

Blossoming I could sleep for London and would happily give you lessons. Even during the past 5 weeks when I have been stressed I have been able to sleep at night as well as have a nap or three during the day.

Jaxjacky Sat 03-Sept-22 18:26:34

Pleased it’s finished Charleygirl MrJ would not have been despatched unless in prime condition ?
I’ve mentally noted that Blossoming.
It’s definitely turned chilly, the wind is keen and it feels autumnal, I was so hoping for an Indian summer, we’ll have to see.
Looking forward to a few days away, but I think a jumper and raincoat will be packed.
Football is on.
Enjoy your evening all x

Hello everyone in the kitchen. I have no chance of catching up but send you all my best wishes from this warm Spanish evening.

Himself is on the sofa. Snoring. Hehe! He went to a bar with his Glaswegian pals this afternoon to watch Celtic trounce Rangers. Oh dear. He’s no longer their lucky mascot it seems. 4-0 was some defeat!

I’m sat on our little balcony looking out at the Mediterranean. It’s almost 8pm here (an hour ahead) and the sea is a beautiful cobalt blue isn’t it? I do ❤️ it here it so relaxing. We have another ten days in this paradise. I just spotted this cruise ship on the horizon sailing from Malaga to Gibraltar so I just thought to share a photo with you all.

A typical Saturday evening here ... ?

Best wishes to everyone. I hope all’s well with you lovely lot.
Xx

Hello everyone. I had a lovely day volunteering at the nearby interesting house! Only a few more weeks as they close at the end of October until next year. One of the students from where I used to work popped in for a visit. She’s a priest in Oxford now. It wasn’t too busy today but a bus load of Americans tourists were there. Most of them are sooo enthusiastic! There was also a journalist writing a piece for a Country type magazine. She was very pleased with her visit. OH is currently making chicken curry for dinner - we always have naans, plain yoghurt and aubergine pickle as accompaniments. Have a lovely Saturday evening everybody.?

GrannyGravy13 Sat 03-Sept-22 19:04:59

Evening all, I am currently lolling on the sofa, with a chilled white wine watching the Masked Dancer (I know it’s awful, but we have a family competition to see who is right, the WhatsApp group chat is very busy)

GrandpaGravy is cooking dinner.

Wishing you all a restful Evening ?

Urmstongran Sat 03-Sept-22 19:16:11

soop I have to say (again) that I absolutely love that ‘liquid gold’ sunset! Thank you for sharing. You have the most amazing view. I could sit there most contentedly just staring out from your window. I find it relaxing and uplifting in equal measures.

Thank you so much grannmarie for the wonderful pictures, I’m so pleased you got your seaplane trip, it must have been so wonderful
Today has been a bit cloudy this morning but no rain - we’ve walked many steep ups and downs again to arrive at Kimmeridge this evening. The coastal path scenery is so beautiful and we’re lucky to be able to see it. You’re so right annsixty there’s such a lot of beautiful scenery and coastal walks in the Uk sometime we don’t really know how lucky we are
Enjoy your time in Oxford Jax the walking tour sounds good
I’ve not caught up with all the kitchen news yet as we’ve just got to go and find some food!

Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people!?

Thank you all for your kind comments on our sea plane trip, it was the perfect end to our week. I've put a framed photo of DH and I and the plane beside our family 'rogues gallery' on the dining room window ledge, happy reminder of a special experience.

Brook, your coastal walk sound absolutely amazing, I love your photo of the beautiful secluded beach. Enjoy the rest of your journey.

Annsixty I am glad your holiday went well. I'm like you this weekend, trying to use up what's in the freezer before I do a big shop. We had roast chicken yesterday and I made the roast potatoes in my new toy, the Asda air fryer!

Happy holidays and safe travels to
Blossoming, Jaxjacky, YiaYia and anyone I've missed? Have a wonderful time, send photos!

Enjoy the rest of your stay, Urms, ten more warm, relaxing days in the sun, lucky you! ☀ My sister and nephews were at that Old Firm game yesterday, they are Celtic season ticket holders so they were quite chuffed!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Soop thanks again for the beautiful sunset photos. Take it easy on the bike to nowhere!

We've been for a three hour catch-up blether with friends in the village. Laughter unlimited. Feeling on top of the world. Although I tried to log on to read emails, the computer appeared to freeze. Facebook hasn't yet been accessible. Thankfully, our kitchen is available for the gathering of, and that is a huge relief.

I am about to start a sketch of a golden Labrador. I haven't open my paint box for some time...so I have to trust that the creative juices can be awakened.

The weather is lovely. Barely a cloud in the sky. Last night's rain was torrential. The village burn is looking very healthy.

varian Sun 04-Sept-22 17:12:19

Great to hear you on such good form Soop

Relaxing and laughing with friends, about to enjoy some drawing and appreciating the good weather.

Isn't it just fantastic to enjoy life, whatever bad stuff you've been through!

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 04-Sept-22 18:01:52

I’ve had a lovely day. Church this morning. The Bishop of Oxford was there and our vicar returned after sick leave. Her sermons are the best I’ve ever heard - apart from Rowan Williams who preached at Candlemas at my work place. OH and I tried out a new restaurant for Sunday lunch. Reports had been good. Well, the food was delicious and somewhat unusual. My starter was a large salmon ravioli with a light curry sauce. OH had cuttlefish and chorizo for his starter. The time between finishing our starters and being brought our mains was a tad too long, but they arrived just before OH might have blown a fuse! I dread to think how my meltdown friend might have reacted. Later, OH insisted on popping into Aldi and buying a tin of large German sausages - not frankfurters. I hope the rest of you have had a good Sunday.

brook2704 Sun 04-Sept-22 18:39:04

I love the new restaurant Yia you kept that quiet ?

Naughtyneine Sun 04-Sept-22 19:09:56

I'm sneaking into the kitchen feeling guilty that I haven't posted for days... But it really isn't a case of out of sight of of mind. It's been a bit of a week. The undercarriage pain s been a bit of a challenge to say the least and I've had to resort to the strong painkillers again and because I've stayed off then since a few days post op... They've knocked me out... I've gone continental and had an extended siesta every afternoon!!!. I had an x ray on Wednesday on saw a physio on Friday. She asked me what the pain felt like...I said I wanted to walk around holding my bottom or worse as the ache extends to.... well there is no other way to put it...my noo noo. ( I have never been a fan of very descriptive or PC words to describe that part of my body so big apologies if I upset any GN's but knowing you lot you'll be laughing and saying ' what is she like'. Any way back to the physio...I explained to her that even though the town I live close to is sort of hippy/crafty to some extent...it doesn't extend to a 60 something year old walking round Asda holding her noo noo. It turns out I may have fractured something called my pubic rami bone... (No I didn't know I had one either) when I feel down the mole hole. Honestly you couldn't make it up.
I rested up a bit and today it's been a bit better and we've walked the 'children' between Dunster and Blue Anchor. It really was one of those...wow this is my life moments and it's perfect holding hands with DOH and the dogs flying in and out of the sea. Mind you the smell of wet dog on the way home was overpowering and by the time I got home my ... well let's just say undercarriage felt like I'd ridden a penny farthing a very long way!!!!. I now have wine...and I've put some fresh baked cheese straws on the side .. Mind you after reading this post... You'll all probably need brandy. Don't excommunicate me just yet.

Blossoming Sun 04-Sept-22 19:37:42

Oh Neine what are you like? It sounds very painful, did the physio give you any advice? Please don’t trip over or fall down anything else flowers

Yiayia4 Sun 04-Sept-22 20:56:17

Ouch Neine feel better soon.?
