Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. It’s very hot here today, 28° at the moment. Despite the heat I have managed 45 minutes of cycling ?‍♀️ and 2 hours of Gaelic studies. There’s a pleasant breeze just started up which is most welcome.

I love your table and chairs AnnSixty. Sorry you’ve had a few setbacks Muse but it will happen.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 10-Aug-22 16:14:18

Hello everyone. It’s ? So hot that I cancelled my much needed hair appointment for roots and cut. I am lying on the sofa with a fan and a book. But, here are some photos of my newly decorated lounge, hall and landing. I will post a photo of the kitchen when the new curtains arrive. One of my friends said I must be a colourist!

Blossoming Wed 10-Aug-22 16:17:51

I love your colour choices LadyLL especially the crushed raspberry.

Yiayia4 Wed 10-Aug-22 16:20:10

Looks good llfl lovely colours. We took the 2gc who have been with us since Sunday home today ,the traffic was horrendous queues everywhere ,have just been for my haircut don't know why I bothered I'm sweating so much ! Sat here thinking bed needs remaking it will wait a bit longer .Take care whatever you are doing.

soop Wed 10-Aug-22 17:18:13

A very warm welcome back to our LauraNorderr

The new furniture, the new decor, the new updates are heartwarming. Thanks to you lovely lot.

I haven't stopped being busy since I got out of bed this morning. We will only be away for a few days BUT it takes me a lot longer to prepare the house in readiness for the house sitters. By the time we return, I shall need a very long lie-in.

The weather here is hot. Where we'll be heading on Friday is scorching. What to take? What to leave? Gifts for the great grandchildren to wrap. Birthday cards to write. More ironing to do. Dust to be removed tomorrow and furniture polished. Sigh.

I shall return tomorrow. It will be a brief visit but I would not dream of leaving our kitchen without a virtual group hug.

Until then, TOYA, smile moon

I love your colour choices LadyLL especially the crushed raspberry.

This was the colour OH was very nervous about! He loves it.

Grandmabatty Wed 10-Aug-22 17:37:30

Good afternoon kitcheners. I have just returned from lunch (I know) with dear friends, one of whom was bereaved suddenly late last year. He hosted beautifully, even if he was a little emotional at times. We had such a lovely time together and blethered for Scotland. Ladyleftfieldlover those colours are sumptuous. I particularly the raspberry colour. Soop have a lovely time away. Annsixty I'm another who really likes your furniture. Good choice. I'm off to cook a light repast for tea. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

Yiayia4 Wed 10-Aug-22 17:47:20

Crossed posts Ladyleftfieldlover love your colours great taste.

ShazzaKanazza Wed 10-Aug-22 17:58:51

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. What a hot one.
We have both been to the gym and done a little shopping but this aft sat with our feet up first outside until a wasp landed on husbands hand and it freaked him out as he has a wasp allergy so we came in. We laid on the bed watching tv with the fan blasting on us.
DH is going to put chicken in the bbq.

Ladyleftfieldlover I love those colours especially the lemon one.

LauraNorderr it was so lovely to hear your happiness with your friends visit.

Sue hope your long journey visiting your mum went well today.

Annsixty your table and chairs are gorgeous. The room they are in looks lovely.

Grandmabatty I’m sure it did your bereaved friend so much good you all getting together.

Right I’d better help DH with tea. I have beetroot to boil and some yellow French beans to pick so best get going.
Speak soon everyone have a lovely evening. X?

Jaxjacky Wed 10-Aug-22 18:54:16

Hi all, love the colours llfl cosy.
Hope the weekend away lifts your DH a little Yia difficult time for him.
I’ve been to the dentist today, a major thing for me. But with the example of a lovely Gransnetter and support from others, I’ve, at last, booked a course of treatment, wonderful friends found on here.
I too like your furniture Annesixty but being an avid pupil of Urms #lazygran class I just see fingerprints on the table, I’d have to have a cloth on it.
It’s very hot here, 30 and humid, what happened to getting storms after a couple of warm days?
Enjoy your evening all x

brook2704 Wed 10-Aug-22 19:01:35

Have a lovely time away soop, relax and enjoy every precious minute, you deserve it
It’s a roasting hot day here in Inverness, we’ve had 7 year old DGD staying over last night so we went swimming this morning and then we had to look for a shady spot for our picnic in the park. We dropped her home mid afternoon and then I met up with my pal for a much needed coffee and a rest. DH has just opened a chilled bottle of Sauvignon Blanc so I’m set up for the evening now
So pleased you had a lovely day grandmabatty with good company
I too love the new conservatory table Ann a very stylish and modern look, I think another two chairs would look good
Enjoy your hols GG13!
Love the bright vibrant colour llfl very well chosen

brook2704 Wed 10-Aug-22 19:02:33

A very well done with the dentist Jax ?

LauraNorderr Wed 10-Aug-22 20:00:39

Good evening all, love the table and chairs Annsixty, the conservatory looks quite tropical with the sun making patterns on the floor through the slats of the blinds.
I do love your bold colour choices Ladylfl very brave and worked so well.
Sorry to hear progress has slowed a little with your exciting build muse, it’ll be worth it in the end and I can’t wait for photos.
Gosh Shazza your poor husband having a wasp allergy, especially at this time of year, can’t be too careful.
It’s so nice to hear about all your lunches and picnics with friends and family. I have a bit of catching up to do on here but will get there.
Have a splendid evening.

LauraNorderr Wed 10-Aug-22 20:03:07

Meant to say thank you Soop for the lovely welcome. It made me feel warm and fuzzy to be called our LauraNorder.

ShazzaKanazza Wed 10-Aug-22 20:08:24

Laura we carry an epipen around with us. He went through years of being stung under hospital conditions but they can’t guarantee if he would be ok as it’s not a real wasp sting. They are hopeful though. For years we had a fruit and veg and plant business as well so that was tricky. I’ve never had to stab him with the epipen yet. ??

Dogsmakemesmile Wed 10-Aug-22 21:12:21

Many condolences on the loss of your brother in law Yia. I hope your break brings a little solace to you and your DH.
Ladylf (apologies for abbreviating) your colours are beautiful. I am echoing so many when I say I love the raspberry shade. Actually I love the green and yellow too!
Soop do take some breaks from all your getting ready to go away preparation!
Jax well done for getting through the door of the dentist's . That was very brave. I hope things go well with your treatment.
Shazza thank goodness for epipens these days but what a stressful time it must be during the summer months.
Welcome back LauraNorder. Ann your furniture is beautiful. I hope you are enjoying it.
Hello to everyone. Have spent most of the day in the house and garden with some very short walks out with Ddog. It is stunning weather (we are not experiencing a "heatwave" here but 25 degrees is enough for me) and my energy levels were a bit zapped. Usual cleaning/washing and cooking chores. Looking at Sarah Raven seed catalogue for inspiration for spring.
Very little work at the moment and I am getting into swing of it. Never thought I could handle not working for several weeks at a time but I am enjoying being at home. Things will
pick up next month.
My apple tree is beginning to shed its fruit. Have great plans for freezing bags of stewed apples. Blackberries too hopefully.
TOYA

Jaxjacky Wed 10-Aug-22 21:41:52

Thank you Dogs and brook it’s appreciated.

Naughtyneine Thu 11-Aug-22 09:05:40

Oh here you all are...I have been distraught thinking I'd lost you all. I have no idea what I'm doing...I found you all the first time by accident and didn't know where to look to find you again. I've sooo much to catch up on. Belated Happy Birthdays..... (Soop...are you sure you have your birth date correct...81!!!!!! You certainly do not look it). Fergus....welcome to the world I wish you Health.. Wealth and Happiness al always.
Yia... I'm so sorry to hear your news...words are really a bit useless at times like this but I hope your DH finds some comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering. May he rest in peace.
I'm loving the new decor and furniture...I think my favourite is the raspberry too.
It's been a full on week...back to old home town for a very quick overnight stay...meeting with 3 girlfriends at different times to catch up...a much needed haircut and nails done too before travelling back with our weekend guests. We took them on what we now call the tour on Saturday.... A fabulous ploughman's at Porlock Weir and I'd prepped a late dinner earlier. Roasted Piedmont Peppers ...Chicken in Tarragon sauce with Welsh new potatoes and a Summer pudding. Sunday was a slightly slower day..Mass for DOH and me and then a BBQ. I just had gone to strip the bed on Monday and replenish the guest towels before sure friend arrived to stay the week. We've been out and about a bit but it really is too hot to do anything too fast. Today my twin Grandsons ( I have 10 Grandsons) are 16...as for the last 3 years I won't be able to see them and it breaks my heart. I saw them and their little brother practically every day of their lives. I was standing outside the theatre when they were delivered and heard their first cries. They would all come for sleepovers nearly every week and their happy faces kept me going through some very bleak times. I will never really get over not being in their lives nor they in mine. For me separating/divorce after many unhappy years of marriage was a lifesaver and 6 years later a very unexpected meeting of my now DOH will always be a gift from God....he saw 2 very lonely people and arranged for their lives to collide. I am loved and love more than I could ever imagine possible at 67. This didn't go down well with any of the 4 daughters or their Father so although I more than qualify to be on GN I can't share any of the joys. I knew I'd be able to share this with you kitcheners and you won't judge me. I'm a bit weepy now so will catch up with you all later.

Dogsmakemesmile Thu 11-Aug-22 09:17:01

No one will judge you here Naughtyneine. I am sorry today is a difficult day for you. With luck your beloved grandsons will choose to reconnect with you in future years. Take care of yourself. x

Hiraeth Thu 11-Aug-22 10:02:58

Well said Dogsmakemesmile your life your choice Naughtyneine I think it’s wonderful that you’ve found a new partner and you’re both very happy .

ShazzaKanazza Thu 11-Aug-22 10:23:59

Good Morning dear Kitcheners.
When I got up this morning I’d no sooner sat down with a cuppa and saw the wiggly watery lines going across my eyes. Migraine on its way! Dash for paracetamol and half an hour or so later it’s all ok but it does make me feel washed out after.
I haven’t had one for a couple of years so what brought it on I don’t know. ?‍♀️

There is a horrible fishy smell outside today. Yuk. Hope that doesn’t hang around. I’ve got washing to put out.

Naughtyneine I love reading your posts and would never judge you for anything. I feel for you today as you think about your GSs? it’s wonderful you and your OH are so happy x

I really need to get on with my day. It’s a busy one so I’ll catch up with you all later x

annsixty Thu 11-Aug-22 10:31:48

Such sadness for you Naughtyneine.
Life has a way of doing things it’s own way but so happy for you that you have found happiness with your partner.
I see very little of my own GC but a different scenario to yours and not upsetting.
I knew it was going to happen before 3 of them were born but now the oldest, 21 next month, comes to see me occasionally and we have a good relationship. I also have a lovely live in GD who is a treasure.
It may well happen with you.

Best wishes to all who are not well or who are caring.
Don’t work too hard today soop it is far too hot and enjoy your family reunion, it will be wonderful.

Thank you all who mentioned my new table and chairs, I am so happy with it, it is rather like a tonic to me.

Have the best day you can everyone.

LauraNorderr Thu 11-Aug-22 11:22:35

Naughtyneine, how very sad for you that you can’t share the twins birthday, hopefully one day…
I’m glad you have found happiness, to love and be loved is to be treasured. You can share that particular joy, it would be lovely to hear about your wonderful other.
I don’t know much about your past sadness Annsixty but am aware of your lovely closeness with your granddaughter. I hope she’s recovered well from her nasty dog bite.
Of all the businesses to be in with a wasp allergy, crikey Shazza. Talk about walking in the wild side.
Well done re the dentist Jax, feel the fear and do it anyway sounds so clever but in reality takes some guts.
I’m just watching a tiny weeny wren on the wall outside, so sweet.

muse Thu 11-Aug-22 12:11:41

Good Morning kitcheners
Absolutely love the wallpaper Ladylfl. It looks like teal. I'm admiring one of your pictures too: My favourite artist (Klee).

Definitely two more chairs Ann.

Thinking of you over the next few months with all your dental work Jax. I had to make the same decision about 10 years ago now. Hope your dentist guides you gently through it all.

I found MrMuse after being divorced for 20 years Naughtyneine and do hope your daughters change and see what happiness having a new partner gives you. Try not to let it spoil your lives together.

We have banned any water associated word here. For nearly five hours yesterday we tried to clear a channel between pools in our stream. It has given us two tanks, about 250 litres, of water. No more now till it rains and it will have to be consistent rain for some time to get the flow strong again. The ground is so parched. MrMuse decided the time has come to have a well for our water supply. The other 6 houses up our lane have either wells or boreholes.

It's now 28 degrees here in mid Cornwall. Like many, I appreciate a few warm days but now we are struggling and reading today's news, so is most of Europe. The drought will have a long lasting effect for many.

I've picked some of the flowers I'm growing to cut and shared our washing up water with them. The others will get no more water will it rains and fills the barrel. These are Asters - Duchess Ice Blue.

I wouldn't recommend a beach for anyone at the moment. Sorry. Find a cool spot and relax kitcheners.
