My darling OH passed away in April, I have a friend who OH passed away last year, she has been more than left comfortable with OH pension. The problem is she wants me to do trips ,outings theatre etc. Although I am OK where savings are concerned I can not afford to do as much as she likes.
How do I tell her without letting her know my financial situation that I cannot afford to do what she can afford to do?

If she’s a true friend just be truthful and tell her you d love to come but you ll have to pick and choose as money is tight I would have no problem telling any of my three best friends that they would totally understand to be honest I wouldn’t have a problem full stop it’s absolutely nothing to be ashamed of It is what it is
But don’t save everything go out and have a bit of fun too

Thankyou MOnica and Luckygirl3 for your comments. Yes I do have some savings and you are right - I should use and enjoy them. We never know what will happen tomorrow !!
Live for today - I say.

Yes ,you can’t take anything with you, as others say. The old adage to enjoy yourself ,it’s later than you think,is absolutely right. Having lost a few friends recently I feel this strongly. You won’t be jumping around much when you are 90, do it now!
