David Cassidy was my first poster pinup, I used to tape all the songs off the TV when The Partridge Family was on. I hung a microphone over the TV and my whole family had to stay quiet! My brother often didn't oblige.
Then I moved onto Roger Taylor of Queen, the hair, his eyes mmm.

I can't remember having them on my wall, at school we'd stick pin ups inside those lift up desk tops. My pin ups, if I'd been allowed to have them on the wall would have started with Paul McCartney and he would have been followed by Scot Walker, Davy Jones I think I liked Stevie Marriot for a while, or at least his hair, Jim Morrison The Doors front man. Then I went on to actors, Al Pacino being one.

Davy Jones, followed by David Cassidy and Little Jimmy Osmond (hmm). Also Brian Connolly of the Sweet.

Marc Bolan, Paul Rodgers (Free), Andy Fairweather Low.

In my more earnest student phase, Che Guevara, Shadowfax and some Soviet Russia propaganda posters, all of which I’ve put away carefully with a note on for the family as they’re worth a bob or two.

LOL, we didn't really have posters in the 50s and early 60s.

But when reading the title, I was more thinking about posters from this site lol!

What an eclectic selection. A few names I had forgotten and a few I'd not heard off. The common theme seems to be they all had good hair!

David Cassidy, Elvis, Marc Bolan, David Essex plus some weird ones such as Che Guevara (?) and some hippy type ones with meaningful prose on them. I think we could order those from some sort of catalogue.

Richard Chamberlain - Dr Kildare. My dad even taped [no video in those days] one of his episodes for me and I played it again and again in my room.

Pink Floyd (when Syd was still with them) and newspaper cuttings of racehorses, which were the only horses I ever saw.

Steve Mcqueen on his motorbike and Clint Eastwood as Rowdy Yates

My faves were Elvis and the Beatles but I do remember having a full length picture of Jimi Hendrix on my wall around 1968 just to annoy my mother. I thought it was fashionable and cool, and liked his music at the time, but I wasn't really a fan.

the only thing i ever put on my wall was the schedule for O-levels, with mine highlighted.
it was v large, A1 size and the only place i could find to put it was across the 2 wardrobe doors.
these built-in, painted white.
i would not have dreamed of damaging the wall-paper by attaching anything to it.
at boarding school i was the only one who did not display any personal items/pictures in my cubicle.
i hated the idea of exposing my soul to anyone, esp the enemy, ie powers that be, staff.
looking back, perhaps the other inmates were more confident that i was, and didn't see the need for discretion. but i have always been a loner.
difficult in enforced communal living. hideous.

Sounds as if boarding school was a laugh a minute!

Seriously, that sounds horrendous.

What is sad, too, is that I met a good few elderly people who were as unsettled in care homes, too.
Enforced communal living.

Poppyred Sat 13-Aug-22 12:56:23

Steve Ellis of the Love Affair, Van Morrison and Elvis.

Redhead56 Sat 13-Aug-22 12:59:38

Ah, happy days when he was on top of the pops!

MissAdventure Sat 13-Aug-22 13:33:48

Then my dad would say "you'd think with all his money he could afford a shirt to go under that suit".
