David Cassidy was my first poster pinup, I used to tape all the songs off the TV when The Partridge Family was on. I hung a microphone over the TV and my whole family had to stay quiet! My brother often didn't oblige.
Then I moved onto Roger Taylor of Queen, the hair, his eyes mmm.

Oh Dear - a lot of youngsters on here. My bedroom walls were covered in posters from the centre of Boyfriend magazine. Brian Hyland was next to my pillow, then there was Kookie, Fabian, Bobby Vee and Billy Fury. (I did get to see both Brian Hyland and Bobby Vee years later at one of the reunion tours)

Anti-Apartheid: Boycott South African Goods. In the fanlight above the door of our study at boarding school. They were up for some time, until the headmaster put his head round the door and, very politely, asked us to take them down as they were limiting the amount of light getting through to the corridor.

We had no answer to that.

steady on there MissA.

I wasn't allowed posters on my walls, but had a big cupboard in my (tiny) bedroom so mine were stuck on the inside of the door, one on top of the others depending upon the current idol, and if I was in the room I just opened the door and there they were waiting for me.

I remember David Cassidy was up for a long time, there were others but I can't remember who, not Elvis, or The Beatles, or Donny Osmond.

I did have one of The Rolling Stones with Mick wearing extremely tight trousers that might as well have been see through. I came home one day to find my mum had licked a postage stamp and stuck it over the offending area of his trousers!

The Osmonds, i loved Merrill, still have a signed poster in my bedroom, but not on the wall.
And i still have all of the Osmonds World magazines.
I will grow up one day lol.
Also George Best and Charlie George,he played for Arsenal if my memory serves me correctly.

a postage stamp, *Baggytrazzas? I just hope for the sake of Mick's reputation that it was a very small poster!

Baggytrazzas Sat 13-Aug-22 15:07:22

It was of the full band, playing at a concert. Mick was closest to the camera. Taken in perspective, the full postage stamp was required to cover the area. She even had to turn it slightly on the diagonal to gain maximum coverage. I did try to steam it off but took some of the trousers off with it. Was never the same.

I just can't find that picture, because I was going to post it here in all its see through glory.

That was mine. I loved Aubrey Beardsley.

Esspee

That was mine. I loved Aubrey Beardsley.

I loved Aubrey Beardsley too, but found his drawings rather sinister. I think I’d have had nightmares with them on my walls.

Beatles! A whole wall.of them, with George in top place. We had a shabby (but clean) home (no money!) so it was fine for me to cover the walls in pictures. Another wall was just nice pictures of anything taken from any magazines; often donated by friends.

Donny Osmond in that dark red velvet peaked cap

William Blake's "Ancient of Days" and Baloo the bear from the Jungle Book.

Casdon Sat 13-Aug-22 17:57:58

Bryan Ferry. Gorgeous then, still gorgeous now. I had the cover of Another Time, Another Place Blu-tacked to my wall.

Hiraeth Sun 14-Aug-22 05:46:18

I agree Casdon still gorgeous and sexy

Lexisgranny Sun 14-Aug-22 06:40:58

It wasn’t a poster exactly, but a life size cut out of Tommy Steele that I had begged from our local record shop. (My grandmother was also a massive Tommy Steele fan, much to my Grandfather’s amusement, and this continued into her 90s).

Taichinan Sun 14-Aug-22 11:02:20

Goodness me, do I feel ancient! I'm even pre Beatles! I loved Tonmy Steele and Cliff Richards, but my all time favourite singer was Frankie Vaughan. And before that my posters were of Dirk Bogarde and Kenneth More. "Those were the days, my friend. We thought they'd never end" - to quote Marianne Faithful.

Grannmarie Mon 15-Aug-22 19:54:53

We're going to see Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music in October. ?
