Officially grumpy old women?

The thing I hate is people (usually teenagers) using foul language in public places. I usually say, in my teacher voice: "You guys, please watch your language in public." And, quite often, I get the response "Sorry miss."
I just think that if people say nothing if others are behaving in an uncivil way, it's tantamount to condoning that behaviour.
So yes, I am officially a grumpy old woman

p.s. In the UK, there is no specific law surrounding dogs in shops. For most types of businesses, including pubs, department stores and supermarkets, it is entirely down to the discretion of the owner.

Why anyone wants to take their dog shopping, however, is beyond me. I wouldn't subject mine to it, they wouldn't enjoy it and neither would I.

Children sitting in the food section of trolley . Dirty shoes where you putting your food . Also my local convenience store has a cat that lies on top of boxes or displays. because "it's cute " they won't send it out .

I agree with Jennifer Eccles about children sitting in the main part of shopping trollies with dirty shoes. I once heard of a woman who unpacked a packet of bacon at home only to find it had dog poo on it yuk! I am also surprised that dogs seem to be allowed in cafes everywhere these days, and I am put off by hotels that allow dogs in bedrooms. Never allowed years ago.

When someone walks towards you on their phone, just say ‘boo’ have done that quite a few times, with various responses!

Sadgrandma I completely agree with you. We frequented a lovely hotel for years then it became ‘ dog friendly’. I told the owners we wouldn’t be booking again. Same with cafe’s.

Well! There was a non service pooch in MY M&S too in Horwich Bolton on Monday! Disgraceful carry on.... And on Sunday at carnforth station cafe a trendy(Wannabees) older couple had a lovely spaniel trying to say hello to us and the bloke....picked it up and sat it on his lap! Yuk! They had no control over the poor pup and I got impression it was lockdown puppy that had the gall to....grow!? Ridiculous. And a scummy daddy with an annoying nasal squawk trying to be the perfect parent whilst letting us all know how clever his kid was.... (Looked pretty thick to me)

It’s the same with children, I asked a small boy to stop pushing and hitting me when I reached in to get a chicken. He came up to me and spat at me. His dad was with him, I asked if his son had a problem, autistic etc. no was the reply, he is just a little so I told him his son just spat at me when I asked him to stop pushing me. He replied he blew a raspberry at you, So I asked him if would like me to demonstrate what he did. Also told him he needed to improve his parenting skills or his son would turn out to be a horrid child and walked away with the son screaming she called me horrid. Yesterday I tested positive for covid, just wondered if it was the boy spitting at me.

Kids flying around shops on Wheelies I think they are called. A young boy nearly knocked me off my feet and had the cheek to give me a filthy look. They shouldn't be allowed.

Back to school soon thank goodness, that just leaves dogs

I have a policy of not frequenting places such as shops, cafes etc which allow dogs inside. Unfortunately for me they are now allowed in John Lewis which is one of my favourite stores!

I am a total dog lover but fail to see why any one really needs their dog in a pub or restaurant with them. I appreciate it is necessary when it is a support dog but I know some visitors with dogs have been unhappy when they weren't allowed access to a museum I work in. I honestly don't think any dog wants to wander round a museum and unless it is needed as a support dog it would be happier left at home.
Also on a number of ococcasions parents have just let their children roam free around a large, multi storey building. Not all children want to do the free worksheets and are not really interested in the type of exhibitions on show.

I hate to see people put their children in supermarket trollies with shoes on, exactly where we then put food. I’ve thought that for years, so was a grumpy not so old woman!!

I wouldn't have a problem with a dog in a food hall as long as it was well behaved and not sniffing the food. Similarly, with the little boy on a scooter as long as he wasn't scooting around recklessly.
However, I'd definitely frown at an early G and T!

I did a double take yesterday when someone brought their dog into the hotel swimming pool and spa area. It looked like a labradoodle and came complete with its own bed, carried in on the arms of its owner!

Went into a so called revamped M and S. In Llandudno today to find cafe is manned by machine where one has to pre order requirements !! Won't be going there again !!

If you leave a dog alone in the house it might cry / bark and annoy the neighbours - and you have to live with (near!) them... so maybe it's better to cnance the ire of a couple of shoppers... and the staff did not say anything.

Yesterday , I met up with some ladies at a local cafe .
When one of them received a water saving notice on her phone - we all decided that we have turned into grumpy old women .
I didn't read mine .
I've been super careful with water .
Haven't we all ?

Bikes and dogs in cafes /shops annoy me too .
The other thing which infuriates me is having people pushing in front of me at the chemist and supermarket as
" I've got work . "
Or "I'm parked . "

All of us had just spent hours on the phone trying to get through and listened to recorded music and messages .

We'd ordered coffee , but felt like G and T's and frankly wondered about wacky baccy .
After all ,it's all you can smell around the area .

I 'm wondering if in future we aren't going to turn into a bunch of foul mouthed , abusive , mobility scooter riding , dog owning , boozed up splif smoking old grandmas !

What about children pushing loaded trolleys around? Those trolleys get heavy and are difficult to steer at the best of times. Not long ago a child caught the back of my ankle with a wheel, it wasn't until I got home I realised it'd drawn blood.
