This morning I was sitting at a table in the coffee bar of an M&S whilst my husband was picking up a couple of drinks. We were in the store to spend gift vouchers which have been mounting up - need I add we had not found anything we wanted. Suddenly two really cute little American boys appeared by my side, and they introduced themselves and we had a little chat. When my husband appeared with the coffee, to my surprise they quickly disappeared to an adjoining table. Their mother and father explained that when the boys saw me sitting by myself they were afraid that I might feel lonely and wanted to come and talk to me, but when my husband appeared they realised I had someone to keep me company. It made my day that two such young children should be so thoughtful.

That's lovely Lexisgranny. What made my day today was a lovely helpful assistant in, funnily enough, M&S. I'm on crutches and she couldn't have been kinder, helping me to source knickers for my daughter. Then at the checkout the lady who served me was very kind and helpful. Maybe I'm looking a bit pathetic, I don't know, but they both went the extra mile for me. I was a bit moved by it, silly me.

I was at the supermarket when one of my bags of ground coffee burst all over my shopping, me and the conveyor belt. Several members of staff appeared from nowhere, cleaned up my shopping, helped me dust myself down and then ran back to pick up another bag of coffee for me. So kind of them all.

sitting on the garden swin with my car after working very hard all day, watching and listening to the swallows. And the WWF local team saying they will come in October with a team of volunteers to help rebuild our pond, which is used by bats, swallows, newts and so much more. Got all the materials, but need some strong arms to help. Brilliant.

That is so exciting Fleurpepper I've spent all day worrying about the sewage in our rivers and the sea and so some good news about nature has made my day. Thank you flowers

Finally found a lovely Cleaner to come in and help me whilst Mr J recovers from his op. It will be wonderful as being a Carer even for a few months is very tiring. Having the house cleaned for us is a real bonus.

I have been to the dentist for my checkup and hygienist appointment. Everything is fine, no work needed. This has really made my day!

Ah thanks, lovely.

Everytime I see your name it reminds me of when we lived in Roehampton in the early 70s, and the park was my life saver.

What made my day was kind of "ass about face".

I gave Royal Mail a sack of 20 parcels on saturday containing merchandise for over $2000. By sunday it was still not showing up as scanned at the mail center and a customer was asking about her item. Fortunately all 20 items are now en route for various parts of the world. They seem to have missed being scanned at the local mail center and gone straight to Heathrow.

Phew!

Went for an eye test at Boots. Both the optician and the assistant were lovely and chatty ( last check up I had the optician wasn’t very chatty). Lost track of how many diverse subjects we talked about! And, although I do need new glasses my eyes haven’t deteriorated much over the past 3 years.

Wonderful to help nature in this way.

I don’t get out much these days: have rather git used to staying away from people but, I don’t know if it’s the fact we’ve had a lot of sunshine recently but people I have come into contact with have been really lovely.

Yes. Just completed my second day of antibiotics and am starting to feel I just may live!!!

Serendipity22 Mon 22-Aug-22 20:09:14

Awwww thats lovely of them.

Yes, something has made my day today. I have seen a friend of mine who has had fall after fall and she now has carers helping her, so today I saw her for first time since her latest fall and now having carers and I was able to give her a big hug and tell her that I am over the moon she is now being looked after.

Not today, but on Saturday. I was in town listening to a band playing at the bandstand. A young Mum and her toddler came and sat next to me. The Mum was too busy talking on her phone to pay any attention to her little one. I said ‘hello’ to her and she didn’t speak, but waved back. I was clapping in time to the music and the toddler watched me and then joined in. After a few minutes, she wriggled along the seat and snuggled right up to me. It was so sweet. Made me melt!

I took my 6 year old grandson on an outing on Saturday. I dropped him home and made myself a cup of tea when I got home. I received a voicemail from him. He said ‘ grandma thank you for today I loved it but you must spend money on you doing thing's that you enjoy ‘ ?

I had to change checkouts as the till wasn't working. The one we moved too wasn't working properly either so we moved all our stuff again to a third till. That one was fine thank goodness. The checkout assistant had had a quick chat with another staff member during this kerfuffle and she arrived back with a bouquet of flowers - 'for you, from us. to thank you for your patience.'
How nice was that?!

This is mine, the first puddle for about 6 weeks, the garden was slurping!

My phone 'died' during the night and I couldn't get anything on it.

A lovely young girl in the Apple shop fixed it for free and didn't talk to me as if I was a silly old woman who didn't understand technology (I'm actually not too bad!)

Feeling very happy as had an unexpected visit from DH's cousin and husband who had driven 30 miles to see if we were in! Didn't phone or text first but turned up at door just as we were about to have lunch. Was a bit put out at first (who turns up unannounced at mealtime? ) but spent a lovely afternoon catching up and reminiscing as hadn't seen them for years. They declined my offer of a sandwich as they 'don't eat lunch'.

DH was seen in Audiology and she fixed both hearing aids for him...He can hear me a little bit now.

A phone call from a friend who wanted to give me some news about a subject that interests us both.
Not a big thing to happen but I'd been feeling quite down all day and felt a lot better after our chat.

The sun is shining and I was able to ride my bike to work again.

I mentioned on here a few weeks ago that I had a bike crash, and then I caught Covid, But my bike is repaired, bruises have gone, and I've recuperated from Covid, so it's a good day!

My little 7 year old granddaughter teaching me how to mix paint. Then she actually asked to watch a movie for the second time, Black Shield of Falworth with Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh from 1954. It has lots of medieval sword fighting and knights in shining armour. I always show her old movies and it really cheers me when she likes them and asks to see them again. I go on the premise that she will see plenty of modern movies but I'm the only one who will show her old movies. She also loves Calamity Jane and Blue Hawaii.

We are on holiday in Anglesey and this afternoon had afternoon tea at a very grand hotel using a voucher given to us by our son, daughter in law and grandchildren. Sitting at a nearby table was an elderly lady, I would guess in her 80s, and a man who turned out to be her nephew. Just by their table were 3 balloons which read 104. It turns out the lady was 104 today, Her nephew took a photograph or her with his camera and I suggested to my husband that he offered to take a photograph of the two of them together. They were both so pleased and it really made our day to think that such a small gesture would create a happy memory for them both.
