Good Morning Everyone,
Its a grey sky start with signs of rain in the night here in brackley this morning.
Today , I will do my usual bus trip to Bicester and back , and return to watch the Vuelta on Eurosport this afternoon .
Talking of buses , we are loosing some on the regular route to Banbury with reductions to hourly ,and no evening or Sunday services due to pandemic and staff shortages .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from another grey E Kent. The clouds disperse later, without shedding their load, and it’s sunny in the afternoon.
Rubbish night again. My witching hour seems to be 0330 and that’s th3 end of my night. I don’t want to use sleeping pills often, but I think I’ll have one later in the week.
I’ve got 6 friends coming to lunch, after our T’ai Chi class, so l shall be busy AND talk to someone today!
Hope our unwell friends feel ok today, and everyone has a good day. Carpe diem. ????❤️?

Good morning Mick, it’s a damp corner of Wiltshire this morning.
The plumber and electrician are coming this morning to replace the bathroom radiator with a larger dual fuel one so things will be a bit noisy and busy today.
I will walk DDog early then get on with making flapjacks, doing the ironing and generally tidying up the downstairs- I did the utility room and the cupboard under the stairs yesterday.
Enjoy your trip to Bicester!

BlueBalou Tue 23-Aug-22 06:05:32

Good morning GrandMattie , it’s frustrating when you awake at some unholy hour isn’t it? 3.55am is my witching hour, on the dot ?
Enjoy your lunch, sounds like fun!

NannyJan53 Tue 23-Aug-22 06:31:28

Good morning from a dull but still warm Black Country. I seemed to have solved the problem of logging in her on my phone.

I should be in Great Yarmouth now with Mum. A visit to the Sandringham Estate was on itinerary today. But an hour before taxi was due to take us to the coach station she decided she wasn’t up to going! Such a shame as it was her 90th present from the family 2 years ago. She has a blood test booked for next week, then I will book a Doctors appointment again. Her memory and confusion is comfy. She is definitely not the woman she was even 4 months ago.

I stayed at hers overnight, hoping to coax her out for lunch today. Then home to MrJ. His daughter is staying this week as I was going to be away.

Enjoy your day everyone

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s very grey up there in the clouds. It rained most of yesterday so my pots have perked up I see.

I’m off for a swim this morning and back home to do some work. I’m hoping to mow the lawn later as it’s getting long in some places and dreadful in others. One day I might have a nice lawn ? I keep saying to myself ‘This year I’ll make more effort with it’.

Have a good day all whatever you do ?

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry with just a few grey clouds in the sky
What a shame your mum didn’t feel up to her long awaited holiday nannyjan it must be so difficult for you both, sending ?
I’m up early as we’ve for DD2 and DGC staying over, plus the new very adventurous kitten ?. The builders arrived at their house yesterday and got started by ripping out the old bathrooms. Apparently their garden looks like a junk yard with debris and a skip taking over. It’s quite chaotic so we’re escaping and leaving them all to it and going away this morning to continue with our walking adventures down in the south west.
Enjoy your lunch with your Tai Chi friends today gMattie just what’s needed I guess and hopefully you’ll sleep a bit better tonight
Hi ? to farview and all our newish posters, lovely to see you joining in
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Morning Mick, morning All from a damp corner of Somerset

Tired from yesterdays trailing around. Unfortunately thr hospital meeting was devoid of progress for our friend. Not sure what next, hard not to worry for her future. .

Mr C wants to wash the car today, looks like the rain is helping him there. Grocery order to finish, a telephone medication review then I must settle to some ‘homework’ in advance of a half day training session on Thursday for some new voluntary work. The training is all via Zoom. I’m looking forward to a new challenge.

What a shame nannyjan, disappointing and worrying for you. Bus cuts here as well mick, hard to reduce car travel when alternatives are shrinking. Enjoy lunch grandmattie, hope tonight brings more sleep and Tuesday is kind to us all.

Good morning all from a drizzly Suffolk seaside. Very grey out there - so different from the bright sunny mornings of late.

Our visitors have all gone and after a lovely weekend, it’s very quiet here. The Opera in the Forest was great with nephew in a leading role. A lovely experience!

Today we’ll get the cottage back in order and do a small shop and then I’m going to the little local cinema to watch Fisherman’s Friends II. I saw the first one and loved it.

Enjoy your day , the best you can ?

Good morning from murky Leicestershire.

Bus cancellations here too Mick due to lack of drivers.
That is sad for your mother NannyJan, it is hard watching your parents deteriorating.

Not much planned for today although must ring the blind man about the awning.

Hoping everyone has a good day.

harrigran Tue 23-Aug-22 07:21:03

Good morning from a grey NE where it is 15 degrees.
Had a lazy day yesterday, did crosswords while catching up on some TV.
For dinner I made a tuna and prawn pasta dish which I enjoyed, quite a while since I cooked that particular dish.
Another relaxed day waiting for parcels to be delivered.

Lucy77 Tue 23-Aug-22 07:21:36

Good morning from Eastbourne! I just joined gransnet. Only moved to Eastbourne a few months ago - it’s beautiful and one of the sunniest and warmest areas of the country. I know very few people here so far.
I joined because, while I was researching thermal underwear, I came across this site and a discussion about liberty bodices! Ha! Memories of a loving mother warming it over the stove before I put it on. X

Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. It looks like it may have rained overnight. Another hot day forecast, up to 27°. It's not dropping below 17 at night.
Volunteering at the charity shop as it's Tuesday.
Love to all ? x

SunshineSally Tue 23-Aug-22 07:26:09

Good morning everyone ? from a sunny south Hants.

For some reason my windows have an opaque film on the outside, so I must clean them today. My car also needs a clean - so that’s today sorted (after taking DDog ? for his morning walk of course) ?

grandMattie - have a lovely day with your friends today.

Have the best day you can everyone.
Hugs and ?? to you all x

Good morning, all, and welcome to farview! It’s another damp start in Torbay after showers and late sunshine yesterday.

I’m sorry you’re not sleeping, grandMattie but I expect you’re familiar with Nytol or Boots (cheaper) equivalent as a temporary measure. Your friends are lucky that you feel like entertaining them. Thank you for your supportive comment yesterday. A few people I know locally have suddenly been called for surgery recently.

Safe travels to those with journeys, especially brook2704. Ironically, DH and I leave for France tomorrow for a much needed break after the hectic round of rehearsals and performances this past month!

My DS and DGS3 are calling in today en route to their home in Rugeley, Staffs. We hope to go back back to the restaurant on the beach which is accessed via the funicular railway from Babbacombe Downs.

Have a good day, everyone! ?????

Pittcity Tue 23-Aug-22 07:27:29

Welcome Lucy77 we're all going to need our thermals soon.

PollyDolly Tue 23-Aug-22 07:28:43

Good morning from a very overcast East Midlands. There is little or no breeze and rain is forecast later this morning. Our lavender is ready for pruning, the flowers are almost completely done and there are very few bees on them now, I shall save the prunings though, I love the smell of lavender.
Have a good day everyone and take care

kittylester Tue 23-Aug-22 07:32:17

Good morning all. My bit of Leicestershire is also murky.

3 dgc coming today and staying overnight - it seemed like a good idea when we first arranged it. We also have to feed DS1's cat.

DD1 also has her 1st of 9 weekly chemo sessions. sad

Good morning everyone from a misty Bilbao in Northern Spain; it is set to clear later and be a warm 30°. I have a tour booked in about an hour's time to get a taste of the area.

Yesterday's outing to the Margaux wine region was excellent, with a visit to a vineyard/winery, where the wine-making process was explained to us, followed by a tasting of two different wines and an array of cheeses. I came away with three bottles of their excellent rose!

We left Bordeaux early afternoon and I managed to get some pictures of our departure, which was rather dramatic as they had to lift the road bridge. I posted these pictures on a Saga Fb group; later in the evening whilst enjoying dinner I had a visit by a ship's officer to ask if my pictures could be used in the Captain's blog; how amazing! Of course I said yes. I will try to post them.

Have a happy Tuesday everyone.

ShazzaKanazza Tue 23-Aug-22 07:39:30

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. DH told me it rained in the night but I didn’t hear it.

NannyJan what a shame you didn’t get away with your Mum.?

?? farview and Lucy77. What a lovely memory about your Mum.

Enjoy your lunch grandMattie and hope you sleep better tonight.

Today I’m picking up Mum and taking her back to her caravan for two weeks. Also visiting my uncle and taking his shopping for him. His slit lamp eye appointment last week went well and there is nothing in his eyes of concern.

Have a lovely Tuesday and virtual hugs to those struggling. ??

Urmstongran Tue 23-Aug-22 07:43:22

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from Malaga where the sun’s up already ? and it’s still and quiet. I’m sipping my tea , listening to the wood pigeons and inhaling the scent of the pine trees.

Tuesday = LWW this afternoon woohoo! ??
Wash & blow at the salon downstairs first. Last week I bought a Vidal Sassoon hair mousse to take home. Not cheap but a great volumiser. Smells lush too.

Himself says he’s off for a stroll late afternoon and will pick up a rotisserie chicken on the way home - so that’s dinner sorted! ?

Sailaway from Bordeaux where they lifted the road-bridge for us to sail beneath.

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, I was so cold last night, much to DH'S horror, I put on the heating for an hour.
I pulled the health card and said it wasn't good for me to be cold! ?

I had a very successful trip to Sainsbury's yesterday. It was thankfully very quiet, but unfortunately the shelves were very bare. Thank goodness, I was only in for a few basics.
However, I did spot a dress I had been eyeing up for months, but refused to pay full price for.
It was in the sale, but not in my size, nor the size below. I got chatting to a lady, who was also looking at it and she urged me to try the much smaller one.
I never use fitting rooms, as I usually get into a fankle and can't get the item back off, without help. However, I decided to try it and it was a PERFECT FIT! ?
That and a garden fork for under £5, to replace SIL's fork which DH broke, liberating plants from the lodgers' garden, made my day.

Today, we are off on a garden centre trip. For the southsiders, it's the one on the road to Lugton, because they have sale on.
I'm looking for a particular plant and DD has spotted it there in a variety of colours. The one from her garden has provided cut flowers for me, for weeks.
She has refused to part with it, despite digging up everything else. Selfish wee besom! ?.

We are then off off to a garden centre near Seamill, which has beautiful pots.
Of course, as we are so far away from home, we shall be forced to have lunch somewhere, probably Largs. ?

On our return, I plan to phone my GP. Its over six weeks since I became unwell, four weeks since the urgent endoscopy, despite being assured I would have the biopsy results in three weeks.
I am still feeling permanently unwell and of course my imagination is running amok, about the outcome of the tests. This waiting game is not an easy one to play.

Brook, I hope you enjoy your trip, the lunch goes well, GM. It's heartening to hear how your friends are supporting you.
Nannyjan, its heartbreaking to see our parents decline.?
Finally, a warm welcome to our Lucy77 and all the newbies on this thread.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Sailaway from Bordeaux.
