I don’t read the articles but see the headlines, the poor couple must be seriously damaged by the constant attention and criticism they are receiving.

I’m not a fan but enough is enough surely!

icanhandthemback Tue 30-Aug-22 13:28:01

Note not one member of the royal family or household has said a word about her …. Ever

Blackcat3, of course they don't. They have a "never explain" policy so that even the investigation into her alleged bullying of the staff was not published. Just a cryptic, "Recollections differ," which didn't really tell us anything or the extent of the recollections that differed.

I understood she had a drink with PM as she was after help with introductions to rich high profile men.
He saw right through her and she didn’t like it one bit.

Cp43, did you ever see the Have I Got News episode where PM lost his cool and actually threatened Ian Hislop because he didn't like the banter that was happening about him? He actually pointed out that he knew where Ian Hislop lived in a threatening manner. Having had no real like or dislike of the man before that, I was stunned and just showed what a nasty piece of work he is. That's not even going into his handling of his position as an editor or his share dealing! I wouldn't believe a word he said.

Ps, please someone tell me what or whom in the media has called her children the n word that she is now banging on about? Tumble weed cos it just ain’t so.

Just love the name!

Haven't seen any overt racism in the British Press, although I expect there is a lot on social media.
I suspect it is our Media that Meghan hates and the fact the RF didn't fight her corner.
The American way is very diferent to ours. We do the stiff upper lip while they like to "call out" and sue.

Grany Tue 30-Aug-22 13:39:03

There is a lot of bullying of MM on social media. She did well academically the top of all the Royals. And her Podcast reached number one. Wonderful.

There is racism in the monarchy
the household used to ban black and Asian immigrants from staff appointments. The palace also successfully lobbied to be exempted from race laws that ban discrimination in the workplace.

"These revelations are absolutely appalling. So much for the royal family promoting race relations and strong links across the Commonwealth."

"To hear the Queen actively discriminated against black and Asian employees, and still has the freedom to do so, is shocking."

I think the Royals are briefing against Meghan to the press well they only have Charles as Head of State when queen goes so monarchy looking rocky there popularity going down so have to up their PR and play blame game. ????

Daisymae Tue 30-Aug-22 13:50:03

For people who wanted to live private lives they sure do court publicity. The further away from the throne they get the less interest the media will show. It's all very tedious, they can only trade on the one thing they say they dispise.

Smileless2012 Tue 30-Aug-22 13:50:18

I don't think there's any need for the Royals to brief the press against Meghan. She manages very well on her own.

Elegran Tue 30-Aug-22 14:02:27

The only publicising of the N word in the media has been Meghan herself making a lot of comments about it. Before that, the only relevant comments were on the lines that their children would have a combination of their parents' looks. As do all children - so a truism, not an insult.

I saw meghan called a two bit actress on here.
I'm not sure that was a commentary on anything much.
Then there is the fact that she touches her husbands back.
Disgraceful!

I don't think ' disgraceful ' is really appropriate term to describe comments? Disgraceful is the half said accusations of racist comments by "someone" in royal family/thinking that UK police are for sale as personal bodyguards/inferring that UK is more dangerous than USA? All calculated to hurt, Insult ,cause damage and for what? Why? Is it that someone thought that life would really be like a Hollywood fairytale/Mary Poppins etc and got really angry that it wasn't and really really angry that we didn't all fall about fawning over them? Worth a thought but.bullying? You don't know what you're talking about And obviously not ever been really bullied!!

Nell8 Tue 30-Aug-22 14:21:08

I do love a bit of gossip. My friend's son's friend's cousin was at Eton with Harry. Harry said he wasn't worried about exam results as his life was all mapped out for him. Oh dear, Harry, if only you'd known then ...

Some can’t tell the difference between bullying and criticism ,
no one here can bully a public figure unless they speak to them,

Is Johnson bullied or criticised on this forum ?

Was calling Prince Phillip- Phil The Greek, or referring to the
Queen as Lizzie bullying, criticism , mocking ?

Exactly!

Theoddbird Tue 30-Aug-22 14:32:18

I have read so much nastiness on various posts on gransnet over the past year or two about Harry and Meghan. It can all be considered bullying. Maybe some of you should think before you type....

Callistemon21 Tue 30-Aug-22 14:33:17

Gabrielle56 I don't think you 'got' MissAdventure's post at all.

Wong Tue 30-Aug-22 14:36:02

They love it!!! I'm afraid I wonder if they have mental health issues to keep causing so much trouble and distress within their family. If they kept off of chat shows, giving interviews etc., they would not be pursued so much. Their actions when his grandfather died and the disgusting way they talk bout other members of their family invites reporters bothering them. They love it! Don't want them back here. Stay in America or wherever but don't come back here. We're better off without you. Perhaps they ought to take a leaf from Kate and William's book and learn how to act in a dignified way, instead of like two has been celebs. They're the bullies.

Lizzie44 Tue 30-Aug-22 14:36:52

Can't believe the interest and debate that this generates. I don't follow any soap opera, whether royal family or showbiz celebrities. These people court publicity. They have big egos and too much money and time on their hands. I have no interest in them and am happy to remain in ignorance of their goings-on.

They make millions from Netflix (she had a microphone under the large collar of her coat at church)

I can't imagine how she impacts me, really any of us.

Lexisgranny Tue 30-Aug-22 15:03:39

I wake very early in the morning and read all the UK newspapers online, it is interesting to see the varying way news items are interpreted from paper to paper. If I spot anything controversial I have a look at the time the article was written. Quite often something written as a’possibility’ is picked up by other newspapers and rapidly becomes a probability and then a fact. Chinese whispers.

My DD in Australia said the same. Apparently you could make out the outline, and that is why she wore that type of coat, with the big collar.

This was at the Jubilee service.

HollYGran63 Tue 30-Aug-22 15:12:35

I thought they wanted to get away from the press but they seem to be in the news every day. I think Megan is inclined to exaggerate, for instance the episode of the fire in the room where Archie was sleeping when in fact there was no fire and the person looking after him had taken him to the kitchen for a snack.

Sawsage2 Tue 30-Aug-22 15:14:29

49merlotgran.... It's on various posts on YouTube.

StoneofDestiny Tue 30-Aug-22 15:15:18

Let's have a Republic and get rid of the lots of them to live private lives and to argue with each other to their hearts Co rent.
Meanwhile - as far as I can see they are all using the press for publicity - can't open a newspaper or magazine without Edward and Sophie being shoved in our faces as 'hardworking'. After Saint Sophie tried to sell off access to the monarchy for cash, They sloped off to live in a mansion kept up by unearned wealth - they have genuinely no idea what 'hardworking' means.
Andrew - no need to comment - what a Prince!
Charles, what a layabout. Still serving an apprenticeship close to his 80's.
Philip - his 'job' was to support his wife? Seriously. Now Kates 'job' is to support her husband! Never was there more well paid jobs on Earth than just being married to a Royal!
William - moving to his 40's and doing the same apprenticeship as his dad! Idle beyond belief, yet has the best of everything.

We lose nothing if we lose them all. Absolutely nothing has changed since the death of Philip or Diana - pomp and ceremony is all that is left!

Meghan - at least she had a career based her own merit. She is more articulate than the Eton and Public School educated Royals. She is definitely being harangued by the British Press - why are they not turning that glare on the idle shower sitting on their royal backsides in the UK and drilling down into how our police service are being dragged into covering up shady goings on (Pizza Gate - Anderw would have had a police escort if he had been there at all!, given he has been insisting on one all his life).

My thoughts exactly,

And why shouldn’t they make money ? If they didn’t and Charles kept them that would be wrong too of course…

I think Megan is inclined to exaggerate, for instance the episode of the fire in the room where Archie was sleeping when in fact there was no fire and the person looking after him had taken him to the kitchen for a snack.

I don't think the press want to get away from them though.

They make good copy and generate clicks and revenue.

Apart from when they are doing something really newsworthy - good or bad - which might be worth reporting on, the fact that they are "in the news everyday" could partly be because the media staff are continually creating editorials about them for the reason given above. It must be quite easy to dig around and find some angle that hasn't previously been covered, or if that fails, re-hash some old stuff as an opinion piece.

If people are really fed up with hearing / reading about them, as many say they are, it might be an idea to stop reading such articles and then commenting on them under the given section (I'm not suggesting this is what you do BTW). It's only the continued interest that creates the articles and editorials. No comments, no interest... then the stories will dry up, as the media operates on this basis.

Can anyone really imagine Harry calling Charles “dad”
As in “ he said to me I have lost my dad through this”
Or words to that effect.

? why ever not ? Dad, daddy, papa, pater, father …who knows and in any case she was reporting what he said and may not have used the same word.
