Its twilight but dry here in brackley this morning.
I intend to do the bus trip via Buckingham to Bicester ,and then return direct , with the afternoon spent watching cycling on TV.
Take Care,

Morning Mick from cool Espana where the mornings are definitely becoming autumnal which is pleasant after the hot sultry nights ?

Belated birthday greetings and anniversary congrats to those I’ve missed this week ?? and safe travels for all on gallivants - so lovely to read after the last few years of restrictions. Keep those pics coming?

Trotting to Antequera this morning for a mooch and coffee then drinks ? at a new bar this evening before MrPG will prep steak ? and salad for dinner - he’s quite the expert now at getting mine just right! Only taken around 40 years...?

Have a lovely weekend everyone x

Good morning from a fine start in la Sarthe,

Thank you for your supportive comments yesterday which were a great help to us. Cooper is alive but was stuck high up in the barn where we couldn't reach him, having been chased by a visitor’s dog in our absence.

Yesterday, we had been working outside all day, partly in the barn, but he didn’t appear until the evening, very dehydrated. DH went up a ladder with tuna to tempt. Eventually, Cooper found his own way down but can’t eat as seems to have a jaw or mouth problem.

He is drinking well and DH was able to offer water while he was stuck. Luckily, he is quite a big boy (the cat, that is!!) I've tried tempting him with soup this morning but he’s not interested. We hope to see the vet this morning. Tears of joy here! Prayers answered!

What a homecoming! But it’s a good thing we are here for our lovely ginger boy. ?

Happy weekend! ?????

Good morning from Hull, up early to start our journey to the South of France for our sons wedding, we are having a few days touring either side of the celebrations next weekend.

Reluctant to leave our tomato and veg plants in the care of our neighbour who always promises to water but somehow always forgets?.

Good morning everyone from a just getting light dawn as we sail into Santander. The sunrise is beautiful. I have just counted well over 50 little fishing boats in the bay.

Yesterday we were in Gijon, where we visited the massive vocational university and also spent some time exploring the old harbour. The weather was dull and damp, but quite mild. However it cleared up after lunch so I spent the afternoon reading my book on a sunbed on the sun deck. Finished my book, Miriam Margolyes autobiography, which was very good.

Had a lovely meal in the Asian themed restaurant last night - satay to start, then Thai Panang curry, and honey and stem-ginger icecream to finish. All washed down with a very nice Pinot Grigio - cheers!

Off on a tour of Santander city and the surrounding area this morning; better weather than yesterday is promised.

Glad you found your cat, Ash, what a relief for you.

Have a pleasant Saturday everyone.

BlueSapphire Sat 27-Aug-22 06:44:25

Sunrise over Santander this morning, and the university we visited yesterday.

grandMattie Sat 27-Aug-22 06:52:43

Good morning from the usual grey E Kent. No rain…
Ash, I’m so pleased for you all your Cooper has been found. The gallivanters seem to be having a good time.
Happy birthdays for yesterday and today to all.
I went to town ( M&S) yesterday after my dog walk to try to get measured for a bra. There was not a soul in the shop, yet I was asked to come back in 2 hours for a fitting. I declined, but was very annoyed. Went to the bank to close our joint account. I have a sole account, and really don’t need two current accounts. I was surprised at how pleasant the staff was and how easy. Normally, DH dealt with that as it had been where he worked.
In the afternoon, I got a text from DuL, asking if I’d go with her and various family to the 3-day fair in our little town. I accepted but it meant that I had to make their favourite coffee and walnut cake - she and her mum think that there is no other better in the world! ?. Hoping DGS will join us, but he’s being a pain atm. I need to lecture him!
Hope everyone has a good bank holiday weekend.
Carpe diem. ????❤️

Morning Mick and everyone. Bluesapphire am envious..lots of memories re Santander..we used to sail there with our 4 children every year for our holidays in Biarritz...

BlueBalou Sat 27-Aug-22 06:54:50

Good morning everyone, a lovely sunny start here too.
So pleased you found Cooper, poor chap ?. I hope he’s ok.
Little planned for today but I need to carry on tidying the garden. My hebes are definitely dying off despite my watering them so they’ll need digging out sometime- I planted them 24 years ago so perhaps they’re at the end of their natural life? They flowered so prolifically this year too.
I hope you all enjoy your weekend ?

PollyDolly Sat 27-Aug-22 07:15:24

Good morning from a bright and dry East Midlands. There's no breeze this morning and we do have some broken clouds.
The lavender has still not been cut back, I spotted a few bees on the very few remaining flower heads recently and didn't want to deprive them of the nectar. I have to tackle the task soon otherwise the plants will get leggy and woody.
Have he best day possible everyone, safe journey if you are travelling, sending comforting thoughts if you are under the weather.
Take care in all you do.

cornergran Sat 27-Aug-22 07:25:09

Morning Mick, morning All. Light cloud over our corner of Somerset.

Enjoyed tidying the garden yesterday. Being outside did me good. Our kind neighbour dealt with their side of an overgrown shrub to save me reaching too far. We’re planning a lunch out together next week, think there’s a real friendship building which has lifted my spirits.

Bank holiday weekends mean solid traffic here, we may catch a bus to the sea front while it’s reasonably quiet otherwise a quiet day at home. Emails to respond to and Mr C’s wardrobe needs sorting. I’ll try to speak with our friend I think, so much easier in the new hospital.

Hope the vet is helpful ashcombe. Thank you for the photos bluesapphire, wishing you a calm trip home.

Take care everyone. Hope Saturday is kind to us all.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 27-Aug-22 07:29:55

Oh Ash, I’m so pleased your cat turned up. I bet he was pleased to see you. One of our previous cats, China, used to get so excited when we returned home after a holiday that he would dribble uncontrollably!

So, morning all from West Oxfordshire. Younger son isn’t arriving from London until this evening. He has to work one Saturday a month. I need to pop into Waitrose for a few more provisions. Oh, I need to make a batch of chocolate fudge frosting too. Hope you all have a good Saturday. I’ll be keeping my eye on Liverpool, who sadly lost last week.

Grammaretto Sat 27-Aug-22 07:30:59

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Sunny here. I am glad Spain is getting cooler Pantglas. I am going to the South of France soon and dislike the heat.
I am so glad your cat is found Ash
Well done grandMattie you are supergran!
Hoping everyone has a good day.

SunshineSally Sat 27-Aug-22 07:33:29

Good morning Mick and everyone from a sunny south Hants ?

Ashcombe - so pleased Cooper was found. Ask the vet to check his mouth/teeth. (We used to have a black and white puss called Cooper!).

Yesterday viewed daughters flat she’s in the process of purchasing - so excited for her and it has lovely sized rooms. Afterwards we all went for brunch where I had Eggs Benedict ?? - so yummy!

Definitely getting the hoover out this morning and some washing on the line as the laundry basket seems to have crept back up with grubby clothes again!

Other than that, a quiet day is planned.

Have the best day you can everyone. Thoughts to those who are struggling - take care of yourselves.

Hugs and ?? to all x

Susan56 Sat 27-Aug-22 07:34:09

Good morning from Shropshire.

We’re back from our week camping? We have had a lovely time.DGS was in his element playing on the beach, crabbing and rock pooling. We also spent time with DH’s family.Due to to the pandemic it was the first time B had met any of them.Lots of happy memories made.

DH wants to buy a new tent but I don’t think we have a new tents worth of camping holidays left in us!

A lovely week but a lot of cleaning of equipment and laundry to do now which will keep us occupied for the next few days.

Have a good day everyone??

NanKate Sat 27-Aug-22 07:34:24

Good morning Mick and All.

A pleasant day ahead here in South Bucks.

So pleased that Cooper has been found Ash and that he will be checked over by the vet. I know when one of our late cats went missing for 3 days I was distraught and took to sitting on the step looking out for him. I suddenly saw him in the distance bounding over the field running back home, I wept with relief. We only look after neighbours cats now.

To avoid the Bank Hols roads we are going to take a small picnic down to the Lock at lunchtime and watch the boats go through.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 27-Aug-22 07:39:51

Morning Mick and all

Otis cooler here in S E Essex, blue sky with wispy clouds.

I shall make banana bread later, and attack the ironing pile after all the bed changing due to have GSs sleeping over this week.

So good to learn that Cooper is still with you Ashcombe hope he improves.

Safe travels, and enjoy your Saturday folks ??‍♀️

Grandmajean Sat 27-Aug-22 07:42:28

Don't often post but always read. So pleased Cooper seems ok

Marydoll Sat 27-Aug-22 07:46:12

Good morning all from a sunny, but cool Glasgow.

Beautiful photo Bluesapphire. You must be so relieved, Ash. ?

Nothing much on the cards today, I have had a very busy week and am course paying the price for it. However, I'm content, at having achieved so much, that's all I can ask for.

I even managed to get a veggie box in Lidl and it contained a cornucopia of fruit and veg. In fact there was so much in it, that I sent SIL home with a goodie bag! There were so many tomatoes, that at this moment, they are bubbling away in the Ninja, to make tomato sauce for tonight's dinner!
Recently, there have been no boxes, but there were seven boxes available, I was like a child in a sweetie shop!
However, I couldn't believe how much the prices had shot up, some items were more expensive than the big supermarkets.

While I was out, I got a message from DH, saying the GP surgery had called, looking for me.
It was to advise me that my GP has emailed the gastro consultant to ask what is going on with my recent biopsy results and to stress how unwell I am.
A wee bit further forward, than previously, but still no answers yet. ?

On checking my phone earlier, I saw that my sixth Covid vaccine and flu appointments have been booked for October. What a difference from the beginning of the pandemic, when those of us, who were sheilding, were forgotten and had to fight for appointments.
Strangely, it's in the village hall , where DD has just moved to. Its usually in our large health centre. ?

I wanted to mention Grannmarie, who took the trouble to send me a lovely, kind PM yesterday, with lots of information about activities at the Forth Rail Bridge. It gave me the incentive to go there and DH agrees!
It was very much appreciated. ?
I even managed to get the photo frame for my print to match the one I already have. I was well pleased!

Wishing you all the best of days and a gentle one, for all who are struggling.

Urmstongran Sat 27-Aug-22 07:48:19

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from sunny Malaga where, as Pants said, the thermostat has been turned down a notch. It’s very pleasant. Lovely photos Blue. That’s a gorgeous sunrise. If I ever get up to watch one I find the experience magical and uplifting.

No idea what the day has in store so I will take it as it comes. The Boy Wonder and L’il Miss are going to FaceTime me this morning as it’s my birthday.

farview those holidays back in the day sound posh and exotic! Biarritz eh? How fab. We used to go to Saundersfoot or Salcombe (both lovely in their own way but not exotic!). Didn’t Peter Sarstedt mention it in one of his songs or have I made that up?
?

Blossoming Sat 27-Aug-22 07:50:08

Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s cloudyin my corner of Lancashire, currently 15°C, no sign of any rain.

A short visit today as we are off to a wedding celebration.

Have the best day possible all ???

Gwenisgreat1 Sat 27-Aug-22 07:53:13

Good morning all from overcast Harrogate
My experience with M&S fitting service has not been good GrandMattie - mind you I didn’t like Rigby & Pellor either.
Hope you manage to get Cooper sorted Ashcombe.
Did a bit more touching up with the paint - really trying to get someone in to do it, but am expecting a new blind to be fitted soon and wanted the clock back on the wall, so have just done those bits. Today I have a load of sheets to wash. Might pop into town to see what the bank holiday brings!
Have the best day possible folks

Pantglas2 Sat 27-Aug-22 07:53:54

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 27-Aug-22 07:55:50

Happy birthday Urms! We’ve holidayed in Biarritz - Eurocamping when the children were much younger.
