Happy Anniversary to Urms and Himself ?
Good morning Mick and all. Well, "season of mists and mellow fruitfulness" is certainly right - the hills have disappeared permanently! But as to it being "close bosom friend to the maturing sun"? I'm afraid they've obviously had a big fall out! This weather is so miserable. We did have about half an hour of glorious sunshine yesterday afternoon ........
I'm including a couple of photos of the plum harvest. I hope!
I had a phone call from the doctor yesterday - unrequested and unexpected! She was confirming she had had a letter from the skin specialist and that the prescription would be at the chemist for collection on Friday! How's that for service in these strange times.
Today I am taking my much older friend out, but where to go on a day like this? A nice drive through the fog, anyone?
No such problem in Mallorca Oops - looks lovely and warm and restful. And lovely photos of your trip to Culzean yesterday Baubles.
Sorry you had such a miserable night Grandmattie. Hope you feel a bit better today.
Have a good day everyone x
Here are the photos which didn't chi with the first post.
Oh for goodness sake, yes they did!
Happy Anniversary to you both Urms ??
Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I hope those who are under the weather feel better soon. I have a WI Coffee Morning, which should be fun. Our local cafe does magnificent cakes! After lunch I have a haircut and roots being done. I cancelled my last hair appointment because it was too hot so I haven’t had it cut (apart from an emergency fringe trim) for 12 weeks. Early evening I have a WI Committee meeting. I prepared all the paperwork yesterday. OH has what sounds like a very uncomfortable dental appointment this afternoon. He is having a new crown but has to have a small operation on the gum first. ?
Good morning from a damp but currently sunny Black Country.
Made a lovely apple and blackberry pie yesterday. I say that but we haven't tasted it yet!
. Apples from Brothers' garden, Blackberries from ours.
No real plans today, so go with the flow,
I was engaged in 1974 baubles 13th September to be exact which was the date between our 21st birthdays being 6th and 20th. Sadly we parted after 9 years marriage as he left announcing he was gay.
DGD2 starts year 9 and GCSE's today. DGD4 (her sister) starts year 7 but at the same school as it is a Middle school. DGD3 (their cousin) starts year 8. Eldest DGD has a place at University to study Childrens Nursing, but that doesn't start until next April. So it is job hunting for her, although she has worked weekends in a pub for a long time.
Good luck for today Mick
Wishing you all a pleasant day
Good morning, a little murky here in Leicestershire but not cold.
Physio for DH and I am out walking again.
Hope your endoscopy goes well Mick and you feel better Mattie.
Happy Anniversary Urms.
Happy Anniversary Urms.
Good morning everyone from a brighter start than yesterday here in Northumberland. GD didn’t wake us till after 6 this morning which was a bit better! New neighbours in the next door caravan appeared yesterday evening and were making a right racket till after 11 but luckily didn’t wake GD. On site pool this morning, then beach later today. Lots of rain last night, hopefully back home as well the garden and allotment desperately need it.
Good morning from clear blue skies in N Bucks. We certainly had rain in the night - that’s the best Autumn combination isn’t it? Crisp sunny mornings and Nature watering the gardens overnight.
Out to lunch with a friend then we are off to Podington Garden Centre for some stones for her garden and may squeeze in a stop off at Castle Ashby Shopping Courtyard where the deli does exceedingly good cakes !
Sympathies to GM - you have been under so much stress over these last months and have been so busy, it sounds as if your body is telling you to “Stop! Rest! Look after yourself, for once”
(A not uncommon thing after prolonged illness and bereavement. I developed gastric issues then suddenly a frozen shoulder out of nowhere after Paw died and there is no arguing with it .)
I hope todays ‘Scope” goes smoothly Mick and that the results can put your mind at rest.
Wishing you all a pleasant day ??
Good morning everyone, the sun is shining here in Wiltshire after a soggy night.
Walked DDog with my friend this morning, had a good natter, she’s off on holiday at the weekend so hoping it’s going to dry up a bit.
Nothing much planned for today, I am having tea with a new dog walking friend this afternoon; I’m looking forward to that.
I hope everything goes well for you Mick, that you feel better soon GM and that everyone has a good day x
Happy anniversary Urms.
Thank you for all your good wishes. Had two frozen shoulders, Maw, so perhaps gastric problems are the brakes on my life atm! X
Good morning all, from a sunny Glasgow, however we do have a forecast of showers. Hopefully nothing like yesterday's torrential rain!
I hope all goes well today Mick, those powders are pretty powerful. According to DH, that was the worst part.
Baubles, what beautiful photos of your romantic assignation! I love the castle, but the only fact I remember about it, is that President Kennedy once stayed there.
When the children were small we used to take them to nearby Dunure.
Another unexpectedly pleasant day for us yesterday. I had to go into Paisley, to pick up DH's watch repair. I persuaded him to accompany me, by offering a fish tea at lunchtime.
I couldn't believe it, when I got a parking space right in the centre of town.
To avoid climbing the steep hill to The Cross, I suggested we cut through the closed down shopping mall, where I could use the escalators, to avoid the hill.
To our delight, there was an art exhibition inside the closed down dept. store, where we spent a happy and contented hour browsing. There were hundreds of exhibits from local artists.
On our way out of the centre, we spotted a small shop unit, exhibiting prints of old Paisley and a magnificent painting of the church, where DS2 and DD were married in March. I got chatting to the the gentleman in the shop, about the black ink prints and reminiscing about places, which had been demolished. Someone, with no sense of heritage was responsible for that!
It turned out, he was the actual artist.
On the wall were two huge canvases of Paisley with local characters and places painted on them, including Paolo Nuttini and Gerry Rafferty of Steelers Wheel.
Informing us that he was working on a third canvas and if we would like to be included in it, just to let him know, because he had really enjoyed our informative conversation, which had made his day!
We had filled him in with a lot of background information about the places he had drawn, which brought back many happy memories of our childhood.
DH and I left, feeling quite nostalgic.
However, the day was yet to get better and I don't mean the delicious fish tea in the Italian cafe (which Michael Portillo visited on one of his train journeys.)
Last night DS1 arranged to come down and watch the football, because he didn't have that channel. Usually DH goes up there, where Dollie joins them, snuggled up to papa.
I got a phone call from DS to say that Dollie was extremely annoyed that she hadn't been invited, due to it being a school night.
The solution, DIL drove DS down, escorted by a very smug Dollie, who had come to check her gran and papa were ok, the plan being DH would take DS home later.
She tried everything, to be allowed to stay, but only reluctantly left after being bribed with two chocolate, orange creams and a see- saw for her fairy garden, which I had picked up earlier in Paisley.
DH had to do it, because my cataracts mean I can no longer drive in the dark.
He was a little *traumatised^ on his return. This was his first time driving in his new car in the dark!
If you had asked me two years ago, when my son estranged himself from the whole family, I would have said that this would have been impossible. ?
Never give up hope!
Kalu, a reprimand for you!
1. I didn't know that Massimo Dutti was part of the same group as Zara
2. Thank goodness I didn't know there was one at the bottom of Buchanan Street, I would have been tempted to go, but would never have managed to get back up the hill.
3. Fortunately, I didn't bump into you, you would have most certainly led me astray.
4. Thanks to you, I was obliged to look at their website and on Ebay, I am now hooked shallow person that I am!
I will go back and read the posts and see what you are all up to.
Have a good day all.
Good morning everyone from Essex by the sea. We have had some rain but the sun is shining now.
Good luck with your procedure Mick and I hope you feel better soon GM.
I have a hair appointment at 9.30 then some admin to attend to.
DD1's three girls go back to school today, years 2, 6 and 9, I hope they all have a good day.
Enjoy Wednesday whatever you may find to do, much love xxx
Happy anniversary to you both Urms ??
Good morning all from S Hants, it’s chucking it down with a hefty shower.
Good luck today Mick
Not good gMattie you must be exhausted, I hope you have a better day today.
Happy holidays oops and a very Happy Anniversary Mr&MrsUrms ?
We had an unexpected invitation to a quiz night from my son and his partner last night, it was great fun, we didn’t win though!
I have two friends coming to lunch later, that’ll be a good catchup for a few hours.
Enjoy your day all ??
Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast
A quieter day today, just a contact lens check up this afternoon.
Singing went well yesterday and a productive meeting re going forward for the running of the club due to the organiser’s ill health. I even got stuck into the great wash up of teacups etc at the end but was rewarded with an extra slice of the delicious homemade cake provided by one of the participants.
Had to find a new address for friend 20 miles away later on and I’m not sure why my sat nav (sat nag) stops talking to me, I need her! Not just the visuals.
She’s moved to a house which is an exact replica and layout of my late mothers in the same area, Edwardian, bay windows etc. Strange feeling but all completely modernised.
Thoughts to Gingster and all mothers with DDs having treatment, also to grandMattie hope you feel better.
Good morning Mick and everyone from bright Carlisle where we may well get a shower or two before the morning's out.
It rained solidly yesterday afternoon so I couldn't get into the garden where a clear out is due. Instead, I ended up in front of the computer, inputting and editing lots of holiday photos. Lots of naughty words were used as my dated OS struggles to cope with the thousands of photos now on the system. There will be a new computer shortly as the current ageing one won't take the latest OS.
Today I shall continue feeding the washing machine and doing admin. I shall dare to open my energy bills and look at bank and credit card statements though I haven't been the usual spendthrift on holiday, mindful of having to carry purchases home.
I have found having white hair and looking ancient is useful when travelling. At Euston on Monday I was faced with two steps up onto the train with my heavy suitcase. I had made two failed attempts, being very mindful of my prolapse, when a passing gentleman kindly offered to put the case on for me.
Yes, please, and thank you! Not easy to surrender your independence though.
I hope your procedure goes well, Mick. The prep is the worst part I think.
And I'm another who says take it easy today grandMattie. Your body is trying to tell you so.
And do have a good day everyone.
Good morning all!
Today I need to address a problem with a delivery from yesterday. I had ordered some stuff for OH from Matalan and of course had to add one or 2 items for me! When the parcel arrived yesterday the bag had been ripped apart then sellotaped back together in a ball! After struggling to get into it due to the fact they must have used a whole roll of tape wound round round and round again a pack of knickers had split open and 2 pair were missing, the joggers had a large footprint on them and one of the tops had a hole in! Obviously not Matalans fault but they need to take it up with Evri. Just in the mood to deal with this NOT!
Good luck for today*Mick*, sorry to hear you are not well Mattie and Marydoll you did it again!
Hugs to all in need, take care everyone.
Happy Anniversary to our lovely Urmstongran and Himself ??
Good morning from the NE where it is slowly brightening.
It was humid yesterday and we had a thunderstorm during the afternoon. The rain was torrential and the gutters were overflowing, water was leaking through the roof but hard to see where it was getting in.
Contacted the plumber as it is two months since his initial visit, just ignored my call.
My tummy has been a bit off since the procedure last week and I had to get up at 1.45 this morning.
SIL coming to take me shopping, need to make a list because the whole family will be here to celebrate GD'S 17th birthday on Saturday. Her birthday is actually tomorrow but she starts college so we are going to have a celebration lunch and a cake.
Hope the procedure goes well Mick, they usually give you a print out before you leave so that you have some idea of what is going on.
Enjoy the last of the warmth.
Wishing Mr &Mrs Urmstongran a very Happy Anniversary! ?❤️?
Happy Anniversary Dear Urmstongran & himself enjoy the sun, sea & sangria ?????♀️
