Some years ago I wrote to all the major supermarkets to suggest that they should have a section on their online shopping sites labelled UK Produced so that we can simply and easily choose to only shop from that section.

I got very little in the way of positive responses.

Today I took a Tesco chicken breast out of the fridge and it said Poland on it. What the hell am I doing eating a chicken breast from Poland when Sun Valley chickens is on my doorstep and also lots of small free range producers!

I would like to restart this idea as a campaign to all the supermarkets - if I did so, do you think others would join me and write to them to? How might I get that ball rolling?

Our animal welfare laws are much higher than many countries, including Australia. Luckily Ms Truss signed a deal to buy meat from Australia! Simply doesn’t make sense.

I'm sure any meat imported from Australia will meet with British standards.

Most meat produced there is more free-range than anything produced in the UK.

Ps how far would you like it to range freely?

A farm of 30,00 acres? Or is that too restrictive?

Midgey there has been a lot of coverage about the differences between EU and Australian welfare, pesticides and hormone use, environmental protections and so on.
I'm surprised you haven't seen them.

Here's just one:

And here's one trying to say it won't all be a problem (obviously from Australia):
