Good morning from a darkish E Kent. The rain was monsoonal yesterday. I had to wade ankle deep in water to get to M&S due to blocked gutters…
Enjoy your little holiday, Mick.
I’ve finished putting the squares and triangles together for the patchwork and now have to do the boring job of assembling and finishing the throw.
Due to HM”s death, the train strikes are cancelled and I can get to Bristol next weekend for DD’s last service at her old parish. Will be sad after 8 years there.
Today is empty. Sewing and making a stir fry for dinner.
Carpe diem/horam, dear friends, ???❤️?

Ashcombe Sat 10-Sept-22 06:18:22

Good morning from an overcast one in La Sarthe.

No plans for the weekend - the days tend to merge into one here as life is very quiet compared with my busier times in Torbay. I’m sure it’s good for us both as we certainly sleep soundly! The absence of seagulls and having shutters on the windows help.

From drought to monsoon conditions is not exactly welcome, I imagine, grandMattie, but it will be good to attend your DD's last service.

Enjoy your trip, Mick, and a relaxing weekend to all. ??✝️??

Good Morning.
The sun is out and it will be another hot day here in France, we are all packed and ready to leave for Carcasonne airport later this morning.
Looking forward to my own bed!

Oopsadaisy1 Sat 10-Sept-22 06:49:34

Good morning from an early( soon to be sunny and hot ) Mallorca. A couple of thunderstorms yesterday and a sprinkling of rain at midday.
Pleased that your trip is still on today Mick hope you have a good time.
The pool here is very useful, apart from looking good, I wish we had had it at home during our ‘heatwave’.
Off to Pollensa later for lunch and a mooch around.
The Villa has bookshelves full of good books, my kind of holiday!
Oops a Turkey has just jumped the fence and landed in the garden, he looks quite surprised to find himself looking at me instead of the geese (parents and 4 little ones) as you might guess we are in the middle of nowhere.
Hope all have a good day with hugs for those who aren’t feeling so good.

ginny Sat 10-Sept-22 07:13:25

Good morning all.
Still enjoying crafting with friends. We have eaten too much already so are going to take a walk later.
Wishing all a pleasant day.

baubles Sat 10-Sept-22 07:16:00

Good morning all from fairly bright South Lanarkshire.

Enjoy your trip Mick, I have a friend who lives very near Cromer. I first tasted crab when staying with her family as a teenager.

Today I’m meeting a Gransnetter along with another Gran who isn’t a netter. Our las meet-up had to be cancelled so I’m particularly looking forward to this one.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s dry and cloudy.

I had some good news when I went for my blood test results yesterday afternoon. I then called round to see my friend and we had a good old chin wag. They want to borrow a couple of my power tools and I’ve told them I want the one back. The other one if it gets taken from my house I definitely don’t want to see it again. I don’t care what they do with it, sell it or give away.

I’ve some admin and garden work to get on with over the weekend.

Enjoy your crabbing Mick and have a good day all ?

SunshineSally Sat 10-Sept-22 07:25:20

Good morning Mick and everyone from an, at the moment, sunny south Hants ?

Today we have the DGDs for most of the day and am hoping it remains dry so that we can go for a woodland walk. I also need to get some washing dry as it’s rained all week and I’ve not been able to get any washing dry.

Have the best day you can.

Thoughts to those that are in pain and / or are feeling low ??
Hugs and ?? for you all x

Good morning from a cloudy and grey Black Country.

Didn't sleep too well, probably because MrJ is in Bristol and so sleeping alone.

Didn't go to Bridgnorth yesterday, as Mum said at the last minute she didn't feel up to it. She cannot explain how she feels. The blood test only revealed she needed B12 and Follic Acid supplements. It is like she is closing down her horizons.

Today I am going with a friend to Birmingham to visit PollinNations, a pop up garden in Victoria Square. Where there is a garden, workshops, music and dance.
This is from their website

Did you know that around 80% of plants found in UK city-gardens originated overseas?

Well it’s true! And it is from this remarkable statistic that the idea for PoliNations first took seed. PoliNations reflects on the UK’s complex histories surrounding migration and diversity whilst celebrating our differences, our roots, and our future, and emphasising the importance of access to green spaces and a healthy planet.

It should be a good day, with lunch at some point I imagine.

I heard the train strikes were cancelled grandMattie which also means my Neice can be home next weekend for her Mums birthday. Glad you can be with your family for your DD's special day. I had an email from u3a that Monday 19th is the anticipated day for the State Funeral and it will be a Public Holiday?

Wishing you all a good day

Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. The temperature fell to single figures last night and I needed a duvet for the first time in ages.
22° and damp is the forecast.
I walked into the park adjacent to our estate to watch the 96 gun salute yesterday. Think I'll just listen to this morning's 21 gun salute. This is a garrison city and the parachute regiment always do us proud.
DS came home last night and I have his uniform to wash and he needs to get ironing and polishing in case he's needed. He seems to think he'll be back on Monday maintaining helicopters for logistics or flypasts. It's mostly trainee sailors who you see on ceremonial duties.
DH will bring me his fishing laundry later...pity it's too damp for outside drying. The airer will go just inside the open patio doors as it's warm.
Love to all ? x

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. We have son, partner and granddaughter staying at the moment. I hope they’re not up too early! I am hoping to watch the Accession Council from St James this morning. This will be the first time it’s being televised. I’m then going to cook Guinea fowl and raspberry cinnamon torte for lunch. As expected, my son’s magnolia loving partner wasn’t overly impressed with our over the top and colourful decorating! But as someone said, it’s our house! Have a good Saturday everyone.

Gingster Sat 10-Sept-22 07:32:02

Good morning all and it’s looking damp and dreary here in Essex.
Ds2 and family are at our cottage in Suffolk by the sea. The weather isn’t due to be very nice but they’ll do all the usual things and hopefully enjoy their mini break. ?

We have eldest gd coming today as she returns to Uni next Friday, so other members of the family will appear to see her.
I’ll do a buffet style lunch and they can all help themselves.

Dh and ds1 will be bereft as all football matches have been cancelled due to the week of mourning! ?.

Yesterday we went to db1’s for coffee and pick apples from his large orchard. All different varieties, so brought back 4 large bagfulls, for friends and family. They were pleased for us to relieve them of some of the many. They’ve taken some to food banks, churches, rest homes and a farmers market. They hate to see them going to waste, but it’s a lot of work for them .

Wishing you all a good day and enjoy your holidays, trips out and family times. ?

Urmstongran Sat 10-Sept-22 07:42:37

No Matt, understandably.

Good morning everyone from sunny Malaga ? where there’s a nip in the air first thing now. Definitely autumnal. We went out for a stroll yesterday, lunch out then over to the bar owned by friends who used to be neighbours. When we walked home it was 4pm and the heat was just perfect for me - mid 20’s. This is Spain in one of my favourite months (the other is May).

I asked Himself to take this photo with his smartphone. I was stunned. Typical Spanish street wiring at its worst. I bet those of you who holiday here have seen other examples!

Oops my cousin has a holiday home in Pollensa. He goes frequently and loves the café society there it has a real buzz he says and is very pretty. It’s been featured on ‘Place in the Sun’ a couple of times.

cornergran Sat 10-Sept-22 07:43:03

Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset.

Been across country for a few days. Although more than pleased we could visit we’re left afraid for our friends future and concerned for our goddaughter’s health. It wasn’t all hospital visits, we enjoyed a range of things from watching steam trains at Dereham to the peace of the Cambridge Botanic Gardens with the majesty of Ely Cathedral and a couple of National Trust properties in between. Thinking about it no wonder we’re weary today.

Enjoy your crabbing mick, we love Cromer. Wishing everyone a good enough day.

Greyduster Sat 10-Sept-22 07:43:53

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a grey, damp South Yorkshire. We had a lovely sunset last night when I went for a late walk but have obviously had rain overnight. A friend gave me some plants from his garden so I shall have to find a spot for them (easier said than done) otherwise they’ll sit in a bucket all winter! I have a food shop to do today and then I am going for an overnight stay with DD and the boys. I was looking forward to seeing GS play football tomorrow but it’s been cancelled.
Have the best day you can folks!

Greyduster Sat 10-Sept-22 07:45:04

Good to see you back, Corner!

BlueBalou Sat 10-Sept-22 07:46:07

Good morning everyone, it’s a bright start here in Wiltshire.
I am enjoying a coffee in bed before taking DDog out, I think I will drive to the village and do a circular walk along the lanes and back across the fields this morning.
Absolutely nothing planned for today, I am definitely having a lazy weekend ?
Have a lovely weekend everyone x

Marydoll Sat 10-Sept-22 07:56:00

Good morning all from a very sunny Glasgow, where its only 6°C. Alexa says it is foggy, it is not! A beautiful Autumn morning, the best time of the year for me.

I have little plans for today, I have had a busy week and seem to have lost my mojo, after two days of jam, fruit crumble and ice cream making!
DH says his morello cherry ice cream (my first attempt) was perfect. That is a word, I did not think existed in DH's vocabulary. ?

For some reason, I'm feeling quite down, despite having no reason to be so. A big shake is needed!
A wander around the garden and some deadheading will sort that out. Yesterday in Tesco, I acquired two autumn planters, in large pots, reduced from £15 to £15. It was worth it for the pots alone, which were hammered metal. The plants were quite neglected, but a drink and some will bring them back.
The only problem is they were on a bottom shelf and quite heavy. That and pushing the heavy trolley, may account for my aching back!
However, as you know, I never give up on a bargain!

Baubles, enjoy your meet up, please send my regards.
Mick, enjoy your trip, I hope you are recovering from your procedure and Sago, I hope your journey home isn't too troublesome.
Apologies for missing anyone out.

Have a pleasant day, everyone.

dragonfly46 Sat 10-Sept-22 07:56:30

Good morning, nothing much happening here today.
It rained on my washing yesterday but it sooned dried again in the sun.
Picking up the grand dog tomorrow so that will keep me busy!

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Marydoll Sat 10-Sept-22 07:56:52

Greyduster

Good to see you back, Corner!

Same here!

Good morning from a dull and damp NE.
Today we are going for lunch in Durham to celebrate GD's 17th birthday, my sister and BIL will pick me up on the way past.
Yesterday was a day of sunshine and showers so no outdoor activities took place.
Went to bed early as TV was a bit repetitive, didn't go to sleep any earlier though.
Have a good weekend.

Gala Sat 10-Sept-22 08:08:20

Good morning from yet another dull & damp start to the day here in Sefton. It usually perks up later.

No plans for today. Still trying to tidy up the garden in between these torrential downpours but not actually making much headway. Just noticed it's brightening up already. Could be a good outside day after all.

Take care. Have a good day.

brook2704 Sat 10-Sept-22 08:13:16

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s grey and cloudy
I’ll probably be taking DGD to her dance class this morning and then a bit of shopping in town later. Also I’m hoping it stays dry today so I can get some washing done and a few jobs in the garden
Have a lovely meet up baubles and everyone else too meeting friends and family today
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Grandmadinosaur Sat 10-Sept-22 08:13:28

Good morning all from
East Yorkshire.
We had a lot of rain here too yesterday. We had planned to go to York and although I wasn’t keen following the news we decided to still go. In the end I was pleased we did. The shopping mall was very quiet understandably and was an escape from the deluge we’d had when in the city itself.

No plans for today but I have things to do in the house.
The men here are also not too happy about a footy free weekend ?
