Good morning to everyone from s somerset

Looks to be a nice day ahead, so I will get out for an hour on my bike

An easy, no-spend day today

Ashcombe Wed 14-Sept-22 06:17:47

Good morning from a sultry Sarthe, following a sticky night.

Yesterday saw little sunshine but temperatures up to 30. As usual, we had all meals on the terrasse and were still outside chatting until nearly 10.00 pm!

At last I’ve been offered the chance to book my fourth Covid vaccination so I’m pleased to be having that and the flu jab within 10 days of arriving home on Monday, both of which should be in time for my (as yet unknown) operation date.

Enjoy a happy hump day, whatever betides. ??✝️??

grandMattie Wed 14-Sept-22 06:34:20

Good morning from a drizzly E Kent.
I managed to change my train tickets and also get a full refund for the unused ones.
The hairdresser cut my hair a bit short as usual, but it’ll grow although I feel a bit shorn to start with.
The WI meeting was very interesting; the talk was about smuggling on the SE coast, especially in Deal and Thanet.
An interesting story arose. When the revenue men found a smuggler with contraband, rather than in flagrante, the cellar of his/her house was filled with shingle from the nearby beach. This prevented them to use the warren of cellars (and attics)!
I haven’t been offered the ‘flu/covid vaccination yet - perhaps it’s because I’m in such good health and not 75.
An empty today - laundry drying, difficult as it’s raining.
I’ve turned the heel of the sock and am aiming for the toe today.
I hope everyone is feeling ok today, you and yours. May it be gentle to you. Carpe diem/horam/momenta! ?❤️?❤️??

grandMattie Wed 14-Sept-22 06:35:09

BTW re, shingle. To this day, there still are some houses with full cellars!

Ashcombe Wed 14-Sept-22 06:45:28

It seems to vary from place to place. I’m 72, grandMattie and am having mine with a week's gap in between, for no particular reason. My SiL in Australia, aged 46, had his fourth Covid vaccination yesterday!

Sar53 Wed 14-Sept-22 06:56:19

Good morning from a damp Essex by the sea.
Not much going on here today apart from packing for my few days away at DD2 in Kent.
Im going look after my two granddaughters whilst my daughter and SIL go away on a works do.
I haven't seen them since the beginning of July so I'm looking forward to it.
Have a pleasant Wednesday everyone xx

Gala Wed 14-Sept-22 07:03:15

Good morning from a dull but dry Sefton. Distinct chill in the air this morning.

Zumba Gold then Pilates for me this morning. Think that'll do me for the day - a slow afternoon perhaps.

grandMattie NHS England 12Sept - people over 65 (England only) can now book their autumn Covid booster through the national booking system.

Take care all.

Urmstongran Wed 14-Sept-22 07:09:58

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from Malaga. It’s still fairly dark but a switch will be flicked soon enough. We have temperatures forecast of 27°C later today. Perfect! We plan to stroll around the marina late afternoon as it’s our last day beside the sea. A walk along La Carihuela followed by cocktails and dinner.

Goodness, the seagulls were noisy beggars just now. Such a cacophony of sound from four of them by the pool. They sounded as if they were laughing!

We’ve been contacted by our GP surgery grandMattie for our 4th Covid jabs and ‘flu jabs. I rang them on Monday and made appointments three weeks’ time. I read recently it’s for over 65’s.

Enjoy Wednesday all who can. For those who can’t, a virtual hug.

Jaxjacky Wed 14-Sept-22 07:12:40

Morning from a rainy S Hants. Car in for service at 9, I have a courtesy car so it’ll be straight to the library and dropping some shoes at a charity shop.
Enjoy your day all ??

Georgesgran Wed 14-Sept-22 07:17:30

Good morning from a dull Durham. DGS1 had an unexpected sleepover here last night, as his Daddy is unwell, not Covid, but looks like ‘proper ‘flu’, so I’ll have to get him to School at lunchtime, then kill time for 3 hours before picking him up at 3pm - it’s not worth coming home between. Mummy’s in London today.
DD2’s dog came back from the vet with multiple meds and a big bill, but not much over their insurance excess, so probably not worth claiming.
Looking forward to reading everyone’s news later. Have a good day.

Good morning from Menorca. It was very humid when we arrived yesterday in the early evening it was 28 degrees. This morning it is overcast and warm.

On the plane we had aisle seats. I was sat next to a chatty couple in a party of 12. They said they were from East Yorkshire I said so am I. They live not to far away just up the road but some of the party are from the same place as us. She came and stood near us in the queue for the toilet and it was a lady I know from my days at the gym! Then at dinner there they all were in the same hotel! Small world.
Today we shall go exploring. I’m just having a cuppa and DH is still snoring his head off.

Good to hear that some of us are getting Covid jabs. I thought it was over 65s can get them now grandmattie it said on our local radio on Monday that we can just book them now. I have to wait 2 weeks before I am eligible.

Take care everyone.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I have various bits of admin to do today. Maybe some baking. It is our Local History Society tonight so I’ll go along to that. When we got back from Bristol yesterday we immediately spotted a herb rock garden which our gardener had made. It is brilliant. She is so talented and she must have done the work in the rain.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 14-Sept-22 07:21:50

Talking about covid jabs: OH is 70 and has had an invitation. I am 69 and haven’t.

monk08 Wed 14-Sept-22 07:21:54

Good morning all from a misty Black country.
DH has a hygienist appointment this morning so I will go with him it's the other side of the city so different shops for me to wander round.
Take care all and enjoy your Wednesday, may you all find some ?.

BlueBalou Wed 14-Sept-22 07:21:59

Good morning everyone from Wiltshire, it’s a dull start here.
Taking DDog out shortly then a day of catching up with chores and trying to find my oomph ??
Hope everything goes smoothly today for you all x

Gingster Wed 14-Sept-22 07:22:27

Good morning all and it’s a dreary start here in Essex.

Terrible time at A and E at the hospital with DD yesterday. After sitting in a wheelchair for 5 hours being sick and not being able to move and in a lot of pain, a reclining chair in a small waiting area was found for her. Of course the reclining movement was broken ?. She was being admitted but there was a 22 hour wait for a bed. I’m waiting to hear from her this morning. I had to leave her at 4 to look after little DGD.

I hope all your plans go well today ?

grandMattie Wed 14-Sept-22 07:24:12

Than you all for the covid vax advice. I’m not worried at all, just interested.
I prefer to have the shot later in the autumn as it isn’t very long lived and the worst infections tend to be in the late winter/early spring.

Georgesgran Wed 14-Sept-22 07:32:49

Very sorry to hear about your daughter Gingster. I hope she’s now got a bed and is comfortable and they have her pain under control. ?

BlueSapphire Wed 14-Sept-22 07:35:38

Good morning everyone from a bright Northampton. Am intending a bus trip to Milton Keynes, mainly to return a couple of dresses to John Lewis, but will of course have a browse round my other favourite shops as well.

Had a good walk yesterday, and our group made plans to attend a late member's funeral in a couple of weeks time. Cut the back grass when I got home, then watched the Queen's cortege in its journey to join the plane waiting at the airport.

Shall be having my 5th Covid vaccine on Saturday; the NHS was the first to contact me this time, so went with them rather wait for the surgery. They offered a more convenient location than the surgery, who use a health centre with a difficult bus journey.

Wishing all a pleasant Wednesday.

cornergran Wed 14-Sept-22 07:35:41

Morning Mick, morning All from a chilly corner of Somerset.

Sunshine forecast later for my coffee and lunch with a GN friend. We’ll not stop talking. Mr C will enjoy the peace of an empty. Covid jab accomplished yesterday along with some admin and a phone chat with a friend.

Neither of us had invitations for our jabs, we booked via the National NHS booking service grandmattie. Our surgery has only called over 80’s at the moment, not there yet. Pleased to have the jabs, Mr C on number 5, number 4 for me. Flu jabs next week.

I’m so sorry gingster, what a dreadful time for your daughter. Hope today brings better news. It is a small world for sure grandmadinosaur, enjoy your exploring today.

Have the best day you can everyone. Hope Wednesday is kind to us all.

brook2704 Wed 14-Sept-22 07:36:43

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry but with grey clouds
How dreadful for your DD gingster I hope things improve a bit soon
Today I’m off to the gym for a dance aerobics class and then a coffee and a catch up with my friend - that should take care of a couple of hours at least
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

ginny Wed 14-Sept-22 07:40:10

Good morning all.
It was good to see my Brother and Sister in Law yesterday and it seemed to cheer them up. They are under such strain due to my nephews illness.

Today DH is off to golf. I have smallest DGS for a couple of hours this morning.
This afternoon is WI craft/sewing group. We shall be starting to make some ‘pillow case ‘ dresses.

? for all who are troubled in any way and wishing a good day for all.

dragonfly46 Wed 14-Sept-22 07:45:28

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.

The dentist went well yesterday, he is very kind.
Very busy day today - coffee with friends, Ocado delivery, Scrabble with friends then NWR meeting this evening.

We are having our 5th Covid jab on Saturday and our flu a month later. I felt it would be wise to separate them.

So sorry to hear about your DD Gingster. I hope she is feeling better this morning.
