Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry here in brackley this morning .
Plans the usual bus trip to Bicester , and have a coffee plus a sarnie , then a shop .
I was reminiscing yesterday watching the events unfold on TV , back in the 70`s I was selected whilst serving in RAF , to do Royal duties as Prince Philip was visiting where I was based .
I was chosen originally to open the car door with left hand and salute with right , but during a dress rehearsal , I ended up forming a green carpet ,as it was supposed to be a informal visit by him, I was the only person who had a picture in the local free paper , with the local primary school kids behind me .
Take Care,
MICK

Good memories Mick
Good morning from a still dark Pollensa, weather here has topped 38 degrees so we aren’t doing very much at all, thank heavens for the Kindle and the many books here.
When it’s cooler we plan to explore, we haven’t been here for a long time, although Pollensa town is still lovely.
Have a good day everyone, I will pop back later to browse.

Good morning from a warm Sarthe.

After a sticky day, yet another thunderstorm arrived to accompany us dining outside last night. The lightning was spectacular so we stayed out, under the cover above the terrace, until the rain began sending splashes on us!

Our one remaining cat stayed indoors. Since the demise of her brother on our arrival, she has been more relaxed. Although he was a lovely, gentle cat most of the time, he wasn’t adverse to beating her up occasionally which made her rather a flibbertigibbet, so much so that DH referred to her as the French National Nuisance! She’s eating and sleeping better, too, without fear of her late larger sibling pouncing on her!

The photos show Lola, (blonde) whom we still have plus her departed brothers, Chevron (grey tabby) and Cooper (ginger).

A royal memory to treasure, Mick!

Enjoy the day and I hope Gingster’s DD is receiving good care now. ??✝️??

Good morning from a barely dawning E Kent.
Goodness, Mick, what an interesting story, and life!
Yesterday, I had a very quiet day. Knitted and watched the box… I feel so very sad for the RF, having to grieve in public with nary a year or nose blow in sight.
Curiously, after my vax comment yesterday, I received an invitation by text to book my shot!
I had news of a house/flat becoming available in one of the Bristol retirement villages; viewing on Tuesday. I have made an appointment, DD is coming with me. If I like it, (and they like me - one has to be vetted!) who knows how quickly it will all happen…
Hope everyone is in good spirit. Carpe diem/horam… ?????❤️

Good morning from Menorca. A little overcast again.
Very hot and humid here yesterday too. Too uncomfortable to do much do sat and read our books.
Today we are going to the rooftop bar where there are 6 jacuzzis and we noted yesterday it was quiet after breakfast so will go for a dip! Later on we are going to Mahon.

Lovely story * Mick*

Hope your daughter is feeling better Gingster

Good morning from Essex by the sea. It's chillier in the mornings now but not too cold.
I'm off to DD2 a bit later, looking forward to seeing the girls after school.
What a magnificent procession yesterday, so dignified, a wonderful departure from Buckingham Palace.
Gingster, I hope your daughter is feeling better today.
Have a lovely Thursday everyone, much love xx

Gingster Thu 15-Sept-22 07:05:03

Good morning all and it’s just getting light here in Essex.

Thanks for all your kind thoughts re my DD.
She, eventually , was put in a huge room on her own at 10.30 last night. 37 hours after arriving at the hospital. Dh and I will go in this morning . I’m not sure if they have set visiting times?
Let’s hope she can now get some medical help.
It’s little gds 7th birthday tomorrow and her mum wants to be home, but I doubt that will happen.

GM - the retirement village near your DD and family sounds ‘just the job’. I hope you like it and I’m sure they will love you!

How interesting Mick with you meeting Prince Philip. Could we have that pic of you in your uniform ?

I hope the day is good for you all. ?

ShazzaKanazza Thu 15-Sept-22 07:08:57

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a grey Hull morning. Loving the cooler nights. Looking out onto a lovely green lawn quickly recovered from the drought.

That’s a lovely memory to have Mick and interesting to hear a snippet of your life.

grandMattie I think the same as you how the RF are on show so much in their grief. ?

This morning I’m going to the gym and this afternoon I have a drs appointment. It will be with a nurse and to be honest I have no real idea why I’m going. I think it’s a general check up and meds review. I was just told to make an appointment and bring a water sample.

Hoping you all have a good day. Thoughts to those struggling with illness and family worries. ??

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from Malaga where the sun’s just coming up behind Malaga city giving the sky a rosy pink glow. We’re homeward bound after enjoying a wonderful summer out here. We have a tea time flight so will have a meal in the airport then there’s no messing after we put the key in the door.
#lazygran ?

Good morning from a bright and cool East Midlands. Back to the hospital this morning and if the weather stays dry probably a walk this afternoon.
Have the best day possible everyone and take care in all you do.

Pittcity Thu 15-Sept-22 07:22:28

Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. It's forecast to brighten up and get to about 20° today.
It's Thursday, so usual housework, laundry and shopping. Need to get extra in for Monday when the shops are closed.
Love to all ? x

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 15-Sept-22 07:23:01

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I’m still in bed but should get up soon. Our cleaning ladies are here today to do the fortnightly clean. OH and I are going out for lunch to one of our favourite restaurants out in the country. Then this evening I am meeting friends on zoom. Just to say, I now have 20 curtain samples for new curtains in the lounge. In fact, I have so many samples, I could probably make quite a large patchwork quilt! Hope everyone has a good day.

BlueSapphire Thu 15-Sept-22 07:23:54

Good morning from a grey and cloudy Northampton. Having also just put the bins out I can also report that it is very windy.

Had a good day in Milton Keynes yesterday, returned the dresses to John Lewis, then spent the rest of the day having a good mooch around the shops. Also a nice lunch out in Ask Italian. Fatal to go into Fat Face, as I came out with a new jumper. Nothing in M&S I wanted; I had gone in for new underwear, but what I wanted wasn't there, so will have to order on line.

Sainsbury's delivery this morning, dance classes after lunch then an early evening walk. And maybe a meal at the pub afterwards.

Wishing all a pleasant Thursday.

cornergran Thu 15-Sept-22 07:24:01

Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset.

Bit of garden pottering this morning then back to the hunt for a new fridge/freezer. If the fridge is right the freezer isn’t and vice versa. Who thought it could be so hard?

That’s a memory to cherish mick. Hope your daughter has the medical help she needs gingster. An interesting visit ahead next week grandmattie, hope it works out for you. Safe trip urms, you’ll find it cooler back here.

Have as good a day as you can everyone. Hope Thursday is kind to us all.

baubles Thu 15-Sept-22 07:32:39

Good morning all from sunny South Lanarkshire.

A special memory for you Mick.

I enjoyed the chat at the yarn bomb group last evening. I’m only producing a fraction of what some of them manage, I’ll really have to up my game.

Safe trip home Urms.

Our Edinburgh day today, I’m wondering if the palace cafe will have reopened after the royal event earlier in the week. It is back to being our usual haunt now that DS’s eldest is at school so there’s no gymnastics class.

Have the best day possible everyone.

brook2704 Thu 15-Sept-22 07:46:08

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s another grey and cool start to the day
Hoping your DD starts to feel a bit better soon Gingster
I had a lovely catch up with my friend yesterday but nothing much planned for today, I think I’ll go into town and have a browse around the shops
Sounds like a good plan gMattie
Safe journey home Urms and everyone else too who’s travelling today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

dragonfly46 Thu 15-Sept-22 07:55:47

Good morning from a bright Leicestershire.

NWR lunch today in a village pub and dog walking.

Wishing everyone a good day and thinking of absent friends.

monk08 Thu 15-Sept-22 08:00:43

Good morning all from the Black country, blue skies trying to break through.
Today is our 49th wedding anniversary we have a meal booked for later so no cooking yippee.
Hope your daughter feels better soon Ginster
Mick lovely memories I have a photo of my late father with Prince Philip taken when he visited the land rover.
Safe travels Urms and anybody else on the move.
Enjoy your Thursday and may you all find some ?.

Marydoll Thu 15-Sept-22 08:04:22

Good morning all from yet another sunny, autumn day in Glasgow.

What an honour for you Mick. As others have said, do you have a photo to show us?
Gm, that sounds promising news about the flat,

Ginger, hoping to more positive news of your daughter after her ordeal. I'm quite angry on her behalf. No patient should be treated like that and so difficult as a mother, to see your child suffering.

Yesterday was a successful baking day and the new apple recipe I tried, was a great success with DH. Dulche de leche flavour ice cream is my favourite and my first attempt rivalled any I have tasted in Rome. #rather smug gelato maker. ?

Its lovely to hear the news of those holidaying abroad. My neighbour, the Ebay Queen, who recently returned from Marbella, came to the door yesterday, with a gift of earrings and chocolate, saying she thought I needed a treat. A very kind gesture.

My plan today is to go and pick up prescriptions for myself and DD. I can't put it off any longer, especially as the pharmacy will be closed on Saturday and Monday.
The roadworks at the major junction, near the surgery are causing dreadful congestion, so I may park my car and jump on the bus for three stops. Hopefully, it will be less stressful than the last time I went.

Wishing you all a pleasant day and a gentle one for all those who have troubles.
Safe journey, Urms,

ShazzaKanazza Thu 15-Sept-22 08:13:17

Happy anniversary to monk08 and your DH enjoy your meal out?

Gingster I’m so sorry your daughter had to wait all that time in discomfort it’s awful. ??

Safe journey home Urms x

NannyJan53 Thu 15-Sept-22 08:13:28

Good morning from a cloudy Black Country.

I hope your DD feels better soon Gingster. Appalling treatment.

Morning walk at Baggeridge. Then onto Mums, where depending on how she feels, out for lunch.

Happy Anniversary Monk flowers wine another year to your Golden! Enjoy the meal.

Safe journey to Urmston and wishing you all a pleasant day.

Greyduster Thu 15-Sept-22 08:16:54

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where there is enough blue sky to make a sailor a pair of trousers but it’s chilly. Mick a lovely memory of your time in the RAF (my DS’s “mob”!). Good to have things like that to look back on. I stayed at DDs last night as I watched GS play in a football match. It was dark when they finished! No floodlights at grassroots matches! I will head off home soon; a few phone calls to make and cupboards to sort out today will keep me busy.
Lovely photos of your cats, Ash.
Hope your DD is comfortable and comes home soon Gingster. Have the best day you can folks.

Greyduster Thu 15-Sept-22 08:18:15

Happy Anniversary, Monk???
