Good morning all from N Bucks where it is grey. Happy memories, Mick meeting the RF is a highlight isn’t it? I presented a bouquet to HM when she visited our small Borders town in 1966. The Dof E asked me what I planned to study at university that October and when I replied Moral Philosophy, made a joke about that sort of thing being out of fashion in the 60’s. Of course we all laughed dutifully!
Now I am recovering with a mug of tea after nearly having a heart attack at the thread title! The 16th was Paw’s birthday and D2, SIL and GS are taking me to Paris for the weekend on the 16th - but that is tomorrow !
Today is very littlest fella’s FIRST birthday, and how well I remember my surprise when SIL rang to tell me as he wasn’t due for another 10 days. (He arrived in 3 1/2 hours at home in the early hours of the morning. The paramedic arrived with barely 10 minutes to spare and the midwife not until after! )
My heart goes out to you Gingster and I wish you and your DD the care she needs and that she can be home for her little boy’s birthday. .

Grey and cool here this morning, rather in tune with the prevailing National mood. Don’t know why iPad insists on a capital letter for national but three goes hasn’t got rid of it.

Booster jab and haircut today’s priorities and one or two phone calls to make, so a quiet day I think.

Shocked at the treatment of Gingster’s daughter. Definitely not a world class service for her. Hope things are improving now.

Good morning all from an oh so chilly Angus coast. According to my phone it's 9° but according to the tip of my nose it's closer to freezing! But it's a beautiful sunny morning nevertheless.
I didn't take my friend out yesterday as she had had a small procedure to correct a drooping eyelid and wasn't feeling well. I think these outings will taper off now anyway as she finds it hard getting in and out of my low car. Sad really - there was a group of six of us who met here at my house every week to natter and consume tea and sticky buns paint (we called ourselves an art group ) and now there's only two of us left.
Today is tai chi and shopping and then I must stop watching the Royal happenings until Monday and go about the practicalities of cleaning and packing for my trip down to Lincolnshire on Tuesday.
Mick that was an interesting little story from your days in the RAF - thank you for sharing. May I just ask - what's a 'green carpet'? I haven't heard that expression. It reminds me of the time when the RAF station in Singapore where DH was stationed in the 60s was to be visited. At all other times the Parade ground was a car park, and in order for it to revert to a parade ground all the white lines had to be painted black - by my DH and his fellow very junior officers! That's the thing about life in the military - one story leads to another!
I'm beyond shocked that your DD had to wait for so long when she was so poorly, Gingster. I do hope she's feeling a little better and now getting the treatment she needs.
That little apartment sounds perfect for you grandmattie. I shall keep my fingers crossed for you.

Good morning from a dry and slightly cooler NE.
Yesterday's funeral was quite an ordeal, about an hour in the village church and then a long drive to the crematorium and about 40 minutes there. I have never heard so many long winded eulogies.
DS is coming today but we haven't decided what we are going to do yet, feel a bit drained so a gentle day would be good.
Friend contacted me last night and asked if I would like to meet up, she is going to book a restaurant next week. Looking forward to some time with her and not having to cook.

Good Morning all from a bright but chilly west midlands. Food delivery, pilates and a visit from my sister will fill my day today. So sorry to hear about the side effects your daughter is suffering, Gingster . There is a real need for the cancer research teams to develop kinder treatments.

Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s cloudy in this corner of Lancashire today, with a beautiful mackerel sky.

Yesterday was a good day. I at last had my delayed telephone appointment with the colon cancer care team. After the usual chat about how I’m doing Nurse Sarah said they’re really happy with my progress. They are going to send me for more blood tests, as it’s 6 months since my last ones. If all is well and if my surgeon doesn’t want a further CT scan I will be discharged in October, as it will then be 5 years since my surgery. It’s felt like a long haul but we got there.

I must sort the recycling today, ready for collection tomorrow. Mr. B has been busy tidying the garden. The sun keeps peeping through so may have a short walk later.

Once when DH was in hospital, his 95yr old mother phoned the ward to get answers. It was the talk of the department but it worked. It was during lockdown and no-one could visit him.

It is a brilliant stall, most fabrics £ 5 a metre including felt. Haberdashery stall well stocked and good value.

A plea to all you crafty types-it’s the 9th birthday of one of our DGDs soon. According to her Mum, DD2, she’d like a sewing machine. There is a shop near to her that has sewing lessons. I searched online for a machine and was overwhelmed by the choice! I want to pay about £50-she May not take to it! Help! Any advice?

Good morning all, a sunshine start to the day again in Glasgow and very welcome it is too.

All day visits until 8pm is the norm in our local hospitals Gingster. It would be a pity for your DD to miss her little boys birthday but at this point, receiving the medical care she needs has to take priority. He can visit his Mum on his special day if your family is happy to do so. I sincerely hope your DD is showing signs of improvement. ?
Enjoy your visit to Mahon Grannydinosaur it’s such a lovely little town and free from traffic, relaxing to wander around.
Oh, Maw, please take me with you to Paris, preferably the Left Bank, my favourite arrondissement, you lucky besom. A day of mixed emotions for you tomorrow but I hope enjoyable too as you spend time there with family. Bon voyage.

I was going to have a walk in the sand dunes but will wait for sun. I spent a lot of time there during lockdown but not so much this summer.
Still sorting family photos but so many left.

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright Carlisle.
I'm late today as I had to go out for a blood test. As it was the other side of the city and rush hour, I was out rather early. Just as well as we now have roadworks breaking out everywhere. I had an early text from the podiatrist who I was due to see late this afternoon. Could I come at 10.15 as there had been a cancellation? That certainly suited me. There was time for a leisurely coffee in the centre before having my feet tended to and now I'm back and looking forward to an uninterrupted afternoon which may feature gardening. A bit of housework and tidying up first though.

I do hope your DD is better now Gingster, awful treatment when you're feeling really ill.
