Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry outside here in brackley this morning.
Today I should have gone to the JR at Oxford but the date as changed until next month .
Today my regular trip to Bicester for a couple of hours , then relax at home .
Take Care,
Mick

Gingster Thu 22-Sept-22 06:39:09

Good morning Mick and where is everyone else?

Today I’m off with a friend to Swanage on a day trip by coach. A trip on a boat with lunch and then a steam train ride . It’s a long way from here in Essex but it will be fun!

My DD was discharged from hospital on Tuesday at 9 in the evening. She’d just got back to her ward after 4 hours in the Eye Department having extensive tests after a scan showed a shadow behind her eye. All clear! Thank goodness.
They desperately needed her bed and she was feeling much better. The hospital paid her taxi fare and gave her a bag of food. Still had her cannula in and had to ask for it to be removed. They threw her a bag of meds and put her in a cab in her nightie. What a state our NHS is in!
She stayed with us for the night. Little gd’s face when she saw her mum in the morning was a sight to behold!

Hoping you all have a good day. ?

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. There is a pink/grey/blue sky up there.

Will your boat trip be on the Waverley Ginster? I’m seeing lots of photos of it on the Swanage Facebook page. We’ve been on the steam train a few times. I’m glad to hear your daughter is well enough to be discharged but goodness me, sending her home in her nightie!

Crafting for me today and a little garden work.
Have a the best you can day all especially those with worries ?

cornergran Thu 22-Sept-22 06:58:52

Morning Mick, morning All from a chilly corner of Somerset.

Medical stuff accomplished yesterday, all positive. Mr C’s two consultant appointments confirmed the issue with his hearing isn’t as had been wondered ‘suspicious’, phew. My blood test was painless, result all round. Flu jabs this morning, a meal with our granddaughters Mum this evening. In between? Not very much.

Goodness gingster much as it’s wonderful to hear your daughter was discharged what a way for it to happen. I like the sound of your day out, know Swanage well, you’ll enjoy it all I know.

Take care everyone. Hope Thursday is kind to us all.

grandMattie Thu 22-Sept-22 06:59:47

Good morning from an apricot and pink E Kent.
Had a rotten night with reflux which is why I’m so “late” posting.
The journey home was fine despite the delays on the Reading/Paddington leg, problems with overhead lines. Managed to do all my washing and a lot of thinking.
Contrary to the impression I gave yesterday, the retirement village is perfect, apart from the specific flats I visited. I’m sure the 2 bed ones would suit. It is a case of getting my head round the small space (thank you Urms) and biting the bill yet. Getting back to an empty house and the fact that I am SO FAR away from my offspring, brought it all home to me.
Meanwhile, one of my friends has had a leg amputated recently and her minute, narrow, listed little cottage full of steps and stairs and no downstairs loo, was deemed suitable for her. I have offered my own downstairs to her for convalescing, for a month or two. The occupational therapists have to inspect it before she is discharged into my tender care. She has a great number of friends who know her better, all tutted etc., but no one offered her any practical help. Am I a fool?
Today, I’m baking cakes and biscuits for an MS tea/fete, which Philip’s girlfriend works at.
May the wind be always at your back, May the sun shine upon your face. Carpe diem. ???❤️

Grandmadinosaur Thu 22-Sept-22 06:59:51

Good morning all from East Yorkshire. There was the most beautiful sunrise about 20 minutes ago.

So pleased your DD is home Gingster but horrified by her experience.

Yesterday was spent catching up with laundry etc after our holiday. We also spent time with DIL and GC as DS is away for a few days with work. GS was excited to see us and kept telling us how he’d missed us ❤️

Today I have 2 dresses to go to the dressmakers for shortening, calls to make and GS will be coming after school. Last night he was showing us his break dancing! No idea where he’s got that from and says he’s getting Grandad to do some when he’s here today. Poor grandad!

Take care everyone.

grandMattie Thu 22-Sept-22 07:01:22

Bill yet = BULLET ?

Jaxjacky Thu 22-Sept-22 07:06:52

Good morning from vague mist and 7 in S Hants.
Sounds a great day out Gingster the Waverley is berthed in Southampton near us. I’m very pleased your daughter is home but her discharge sounds disgraceful.
MrJ left at 6:10 for work, can’t believe I used to do that every day.
I have various admin bits to do today and will get a walk in, the runner beans were taken out yesterday, not a good year for them.
Enjoy your day all ??

GrannyGravy13 Thu 22-Sept-22 07:11:06

Ironing all

Gingster pleased your DDia home, I have heard of them discharging folks at all hours. Just be traumatic if you livepn your own, thank goodness she could come to you.

grandMattie you are a good soul, I am sure your friend appreciates what you are doing for her.

Today I must get myself organised for our break in Spain, we are travelling with hand luggage only, so I need to cull the various piles of bits and bobs along with deciding on clothes.

Enjoy your day folks ??‍♀️

TopsyIrene06 Thu 22-Sept-22 07:16:51

GM. You have hit the nail on the head. It's coming home after a break to an empty house, far away from family that stuns you and provokes action. It's one of the hardest decisions in life after bereavement but many will understand your decision. I feel for you.
Rain here in the Southside of Glasgow although not too cold I think. Time for some exercise in a minute then a couple vaccinations later on. I know how to live!

brook2704 Thu 22-Sept-22 07:20:23

Good morning everyone from a grey and still dark Inverness, DH said we had lots of overnight rain but I didn’t hear any
Like others have said it’s such good news about your DD Gingster, thank goodness the eye issue seems to have been resolved too. Awful experience being discharged though
gMattie it’s a very kind and thoughtful offer to help your friend out, I’m sure it’s greatly appreciated.
Just had a message from DD2 to say DGS is a bit under the weather this morning and staying off school so I’m going round to sit in with him for a while. Other than that no plans but I’ll probably pop into town later
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Gala Thu 22-Sept-22 07:32:01

Good morning all. A dry start to the day here in Sefton.

Zumba this morning, then the fish man & a quick burst into the nearby supermarket. Washing still to do from our short break in the Peak. And there's always 'tidying the garden'. The squirrels make such a mess. They don't seem to be deterred by our large greyhound.

Take care.

Wyllow3 Thu 22-Sept-22 07:33:30

Morning all.

Unusual for me, an evening and night of pain, done some serious wrenching of neck somehow - not exercise, just one of those things.. Drug T wouldn't touch it so kept getting up to ease it. Had it before, not quite so bad, but it does go, so its a taking it easy day..

Mick when I looked up Bicester yesterday it looks an interesting place - the big designer outlet place seems most unusual.

Oh, Ginster, my dream day, a boat and a steam train! So glad to hear DD released tho you are right, the discharge was a sad reflection of realities.

May I wish earlies have best days possible, be it gardening and crafting, and getting ready for holidays. GrannyGravy yes its a culling “taking the kitchen sink matter” here too. I wish I lived close to DGC but complex choices.

Very much hoping I get my car back today, its more "when", have to wait for a call.

Urmstongran Thu 22-Sept-22 07:34:14

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s bright but a bit windy. Yesterday’s dental hygienist appointment was a doddle I’m pleased to report. Root planing sounded horrid - I was convinced I’d need a jab or two in my gums as I’m a devout coward, but no! Part II in a fortnight.
?

We are picking the Boy Wonder up from school then on to his swimming lesson. He’s in the ‘lifesaver’ level now - throwing a rope into the water for another child pretending to be in difficulty etc. These will be his last few months of lessons. He’s a good swimmer but he doesn’t love going particularly. His mum has encouraged him to go regularly though since he was four. She’s a fantastic swimmer herself and had rightly pointed out to him that this is a life skill.

Glad your mind is settled and made up now grandMattie. In fact I think you’ll be getting excited about the prospect. And well done you for offering to host your friend for her convalescence. You are so very kind and I bet you’ll enjoy her company too.

Gingster I’m so glad your daughter is feeling better and back at home but the rushed, thrown together discharge sounded pretty stressful for her and the staff too I dare say. When will things improve? I have high hopes of Coffey as health minister. I hope she doesn’t disappoint because the system is pretty fractured as a whole isn’t it?

Enjoy Thursday all who can. x

monk08 Thu 22-Sept-22 07:35:41

Good morning all from the Black country, sun trying to break through so have put some washing on.
So glad to hear your daughter has been discharged Ginster but not a nice way to do it. Enjoy your trip out it sounds lovely.
We have our covid boosters booked for today, then meeting friends at the club later.
Have a lovely Thursday everyone and may you all find some ?.

ShazzaKanazza Thu 22-Sept-22 07:36:24

Good morning Mick and everyone from Hull.
Jaxjacky we are getting a handful of runner beans everyday. I like them thin before they get stringy and we are still getting a lot.

Ginster what a way to discharge your daughter. Shocking. It’s good news there was nothing to worry about. Enjoy your day out I’m sure you’ll need it.

grandMattie you are not a fool offering your friend a home to recover just wonderfully kind and caring?

This morning I’m going to the gym it will be the last one for two weeks so I need to make the most of it. This afternoon picking up GS from school. He was put out by my driving in to school as it disrupted his routine.
We sat and put some quite intricate Lego together with him and he showed great interest which was a huge achievement.

Have a good day and thoughts to those struggling with illness ??

Marydoll Thu 22-Sept-22 07:49:20

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where its 15°C.
That's a bit of a wait for your appointment Mick, given your diagnosis, frankly I'm a bit shocked at the delay.
The waiting game is so difficult to contend with.

Ginster, I was so pleased to read the news about your daughter's scans, I was thinking about her a lot yesterday. However, not so pleased to hear about her discharge. It's unacceptable.
Delighted to see you posting Topsy, good luck today. A Glesca Grannies meet up is required to cheer us up!!

Today, I'm off to the charity shop, with my cull. I have been ruthless, but I don't see much difference! ( Neither does my family! ?)

The royal we are decorating our bedroom next week, so I need the bags gone from the spare room, where we will be sleeping. Of course it is a coincidence that the charity shop is next to TKMAXX!
I'm looking for handles to replace the ones on my dining room units and I have seen some there previously. Fingers crossed for a result.

The apples are still taunting me and I have church admin to do. I have been tasked with organising the re-opening of the church tearoom after Sunday Mass. A WhatsApp group needs organised, rotas done and the passing on of all the contact details of the volunteers to the new conscripted co-ordinator are required. Then my work is be done, thank goodness!

Wishing you all a pleasant day and good luck with all the appointments today.

Grandmabatty Thu 22-Sept-22 07:51:20

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and dreich. Low grey clouds and rain. Gingster I'm glad that your daughter is home but what a shocking way to let her go. Good news for MrCorner. Grandmattie you are indeed a kind soul to think of your friend. I hope your neck improves quickly Wyllow It's so debilitating.
Yesterday was my usual Wednesday visits ; mum then friend. Dd brought dgs2 round in the afternoon with the air fryer birthday present. I meant to investigate it when they left, but I had an unexpected nap and when I woke I felt out of sorts.
Today I'm watching dgs2 for an hour later to let dd get her shopping done in peace. He is not a good shopper! I fancy going to my very local garden centre before then to spend some birthday money. I'll see how I feel later. Have a good day all.

Grammaretto Thu 22-Sept-22 07:52:50

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it is pouring with rain so my plans for my young German helper to chop wood are scuppered.
I shall have to find some indoor jobs for him and I have trillions of jobs for me to catch up with..
Oh grandMattie you are just lovely. We all know that. I'm sure you will receive your reward in Heaven as my dm used to say frequently

The JR is messing you around Mick. I hope you don't wait too long before you see the consultant.

Gingster at least DD is home and with her family. You can relax but a shame it is done this way.
It isn't new. I was sent home in a nightie on a freezing January day with a new baby 30 years ago and more recently I had to taxi a fellow patient home at some unearthly hour when we were both discharged.

My DGD have a new baby girl cousin born yesterday. She'll no doubt be back home now despite mum needing surgery.

Enjoy your day everyone as best you can..

Pittcity Thu 22-Sept-22 08:01:51

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Another warmish dry day so I'll change the beds and get the sheets on the line.
DH felt unwell 24 hours after his COVID booster but after a restless night is now feeling better. I was disturbed by his snoring so will just pootle today.
Love to all ?x

Urmstongran Thu 22-Sept-22 08:05:52

I'm sure you will receive your reward in Heaven as my dm used to say frequently and my mum used to add “just don’t be in a hurry to collect it” Grammaretto!

hollysteers Thu 22-Sept-22 08:13:09

Good morning Mick and all from a dull northwest coast.
Quite a palaver yesterday as the non working electric windows have been taped up at the garage where it spent the day and now have to decide if I am going to spend a hefty amount on this 14 year old car (which suits me). I can use it but am a bit claustrophobic so don’t like the idea of not opening the windows. And can’t take it through the car wash!

Off for coffee with old friend who has played the piano for me over the years. She’s struggling as she needs a procedure on her heart, has a bad shoulder and has recently brought her 95 year old mother over from the east coast to a nursing home here. Has been visiting her every day.
Oh dear Gingster, what a business, your poor DD,
I’m a pain in the neck Wyllow? so know what it’s like!
Thoughts all today.

baubles Thu 22-Sept-22 08:19:13

Good morning from damp South Lanarkshire, our Indian summer appears to be over.

You are a good person gMattie and a wonderful friend.
Grammaretto, that was one of my Mum’s favourite sayings too.

So glad to hear that your DD is home gingster, even though she was ejected hastily.

That sounds painful Wyllow, I hope it improves quickly.

Good idea Marydoll, once you’ve got the parish business sorted out perhaps?

We’re off to the Capital today, I’ve bought warm waterproof coats for the girls in the Tresspass sale for all the walking they do in the Edinburgh winds. Here’s hoping they fit.

Have a good day everyone.

harrigran Thu 22-Sept-22 08:39:03

Good morning from the NE where we have a few spots of rain.
Quiet day for me after a full day yesterday. I was seen quickly at the surgery for my flu vaccination, in and out before my appointment time. The injection really hurt, felt as if she hit the bone and my shoulder has been painful ever since. I did not sleep well and feel groggy this morning.
SIL is going to a concert at the Sage tonight and we were looking at upcoming concerts, decided to book to see the London Philharmonic in October, something DH and I wanted to do but he couldn't manage.
I am disgusted at the way hospitals are treating patients, delaying appointments and discharging at night. We really need someone who will pull the NHS into shape, let's hope this health minister is the one.
You are a good friend to offer your home for recuperation, hoping it is not stressful for you.

Mapleleaf Thu 22-Sept-22 08:42:25

Good morning,

It’s a bright, sunny morning here today, though it feels a bit chilly (not enough for the heating to kick in though).

Pilates this morning, then possibly a trip to a local garden centre for some more spring bulbs - this time to put in pots.
I planted a lot into a new small border yesterday and then decided I’d like some miniature narcissi and tulips in pots near the doorways, to brighten up those early days of spring.

A shocking way for your DD to be discharged, Gingster, but thankfully all is well with her health.

I hope your neck pain soon eases Wyllow. It’s not at all pleasant.

Grandmattie you are a very kind friend.

I’m sorry to read your appointment has been cancelled yet again, Mick - that’s really not good enough.

Well done with the sorting Marydoll - you’ve made a start ?.

To those of you off on your travels, have a super time, and to all, have a good Thursday.
