Good Morning Saturday 24th September 2022

Good morning all. A lovely sunny morning here in Sefton with a few pretty pink clouds.

No plans for today but a posh night out at a local golf club to look forward to. Our AC's am dram society are celebrating their 50th anniversary.

Tewkesbury is a very interesting town Ash. It has hundreds of listed buildings, a battlefield (1471 Wars of the Roses) & the lovely Abbey. It is prone to flooding though. The Severn & the Avon meet just north of the town. We were assistant wardens many years ago at the caravan site just by the Abbey & had to evacuate in the middle of the night... a caravan of caravans trying to navigate our way through the flood waters. (We had cleared the site of most of the caravans by then.) It was not a pleasant experience. I really feel for the town & the lovely people we met every time it happens.

Marydoll, your question about Sven’s name reminded me of twins to whom I taught French. They were called Amy and Star. Apparently, they had about 10 siblings and the parents named them alternately, so we had Venus and Odin, alongside the more traditional James and Louise! ?

Little Dgs is 4 today, his big brother has gymnastics this morning so will go to theirs afterwards. Nothing else planned still a bit achey from my booster but slept a lot better.

Yesterday I went into the city centre on the train. As I arrived I glanced over to the far platform. This was where I saw the Queen arrive on her visit 5 years ago. It bought it all back to me and brought tears to my eyes.
I agree with you Marydoll they have lots of lovely things in TK maxx just now. DH was picking me up after so I wasn’t tempted so that I didn’t have to sneak items in ! I did buy a couple of items for the GC to put away for Christmas. Can I say the word now ??

We stopped off for lunch on the way home. I had a carvery so no cooking last night.

Today we are taking GS out this morning. I have some vouchers for Waitrose that expire tomorrow so a trip there this afternoon. Strictly tonight.

Today will drag Ashcombe and this evening whizz by, have the best time.
I too need compost, bulbs and winter plants for pots, I’ll go next week, the weekend will be too busy.
Towels to wash, bedding tomorrow when the electric under blanket will go on.

Good morning from the NE where it has just started raining.
Had a lovely lunch with friend and caught up with all the family news. Her DH and my DH were first cousins.
DD should arrive in UK today and will come for dinner tomorrow.
Sister and BIL will visit this afternoon and bring bread and milk and stay for a chat. DS and GD2 are coming and will be here for the rest of the day.
GD2 had received a highly commended academic award at Speech day and she sang in the choir, The Lord Bless you and keep you by John Rutter. Not a dry eye in the house. She didn't tell anyone, she is so modest and nobody realised what a beautiful singing voice she has as she doesn't sing in the house.
GD1 has been off college all week with "fresher's flu", she is staying home to catch up with work.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny ?Northampton. Have looked at the weather forecast, it is set to stay dry, so the washing machine is on. Should dry nicely today.

An easy morning reading the papers then after lunch out to the rugby. We are playing our traditional rivals today, Leicester Tigers, so the atmosphere at the ground will be something else. Wondering if the same big lad will be sitting in front of me again, as he tried his hardest to sit in my lap last week! Kept leaning right back, forgetting little me was sitting behind him!

No cooking tonight, a hotpot from the freezer to reheat, which will go nicely with a glass of red.

Good morning all!
I haven't posted for a few days, I have been a bit lazy to be honest so not a lot to report!
Today I am defrosting one freezer, the smaller of the two. Just emptied it into the big one in the shed and found stuff I had forgotten we had! Usually I am quite organised and have a little book with it all listed but its somehow got a bit behind! Anyway I found a few prepared meals included 2 containers of beef stew so thats a couple of meals taken care of this week.
After that I have a pair of jeans to shorten for a friend and a pair of curtains to send back as I ordered the wrong size!

It’s a brightish, but cloudier and somewhat chilly morning here in my part of South Yorkshire today.

I got quite a bit more gardening done yesterday, cutting back some rose bushes which have grown rather tall, and general weeding and tidying. I didn’t get around to putting the extra spring bulbs I bought on Thursday into pots, or take the cuttings I want to take, so they are jobs for the weekend.

There’s a cake and coffee afternoon at church today to raise some funds, so I will probably pop along to that after I’ve done a few shopping jobs, so perhaps the gardening will wait until tomorrow.

Lots of you are either on your holidays or setting out, so have a lovely time and safe journeys.

Well, I’d better set to and have some breakfast.

Good morning all from an overcast Co Armagh, it’s just started raining too !
I need to make a couple of birthday cards , I used to make and sell cards , but now just make for family . I enjoy making when I get round to it , but I find I keep putting it off till the last minute !
I see our Parish Committee is holding an Afternoon Tea event to raise funds for the Chapel refurbishment, not my thing , but I might give some money to the fund instead of going , I’m reading that Covid numbers are up so might avoid large groups till we see how things are going
No word of the booster or flu jabs in our Practice as yet

Good morning from Durham where there’s no rest here for the wicked! Having hung out the final load of DD2’s laundry, it’s now pouring down.
I was hoping for a peaceful weekend, but there’s a first viewing on a rental house I am trying to sell and I need to be there, as I have the keys. The tenants only left mid week and yesterday, as I went in with a selection of mops and buckets, I discovered no electricity and a pre-payment meter too. ? That’s a job for Monday.
Meanwhile, at home, I have no heating or hot water as the time switch has failed again. This has happened twice, so I’ve insisted on a new one which will be fitted on Monday morning at 9 AM.
DD2 and family back from holiday tomorrow, so that’s a pick up job, but I’ll hang onto her dogs to let them get unpacked and settled in first.

Good morning all from a beautiful September morning in Lincolnshire. I came down on Tuesday, going back home next Tuesday, so a short but lovely stay with DS2 and family. DS has been sorting me out with a new phone. Never ever again will I go through this process. This is it! He has been and is being so patient with me, a complete technophobe. The current problem is getting it linked to my Bluetooth hearing aids ..... Oh dear, never mind.
Goodness you are all so busy that now I can't remember who is doing what. But I do remember that it's your little DGD's debut with the Youth Ballet, Ash, so have a wonderful time this evening. I understand just how proud you will feel!
Grandmattie these early 'empty' days are so hard. You are so brave and strong though - you'll get there, and your quilt will keep you absorbed I'm sure.
Sorry to hear about the cruise ship lady in Southampton - what an ordeal, and all alone too.
Now I must dash off to grab the free shower while I can - the walk-in one and not the climb-into-the-bath one!

Have only skimmed through some posts. It's difficult posting when other people have to be taken into account. Yesterday had a lovely day in whitby, but did not stop off at Robin Hood's Bay - my breathing can no longer cope with the hill.
Today we'll just have an easy day in Scarborough, I had a rotten night.

Good morning all from a sunny but much cooler Glasgow. Equinox already and a noticeable shorter day requiring lamps on timers coming on.

Some gardening tidying up, potting up two plant cuttings DD1 has requested now that she has discovered the joys of gardening and house plants. The first I gave her was Oxalis Purpurea, (the plant that never dies) it is now twice the size and has pride of place in her kitchen. I have resisted buying more bulbs as I have probably enough stored from last year but…..always on the hunt for something unusual, I may be tempted to buy a few more.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. 7°c but sunny. It feels warmer.
I'm packing for an overnight stay for an 80th birthday party. I must find a gift for my hosts but it's a long bus ride - 2 buses so flowers would not work. What should I take?
My helper had gone back to bed feeling poorly. I gave him a covid test kit but hope he's ok. I was just going to leave him here anyway.
Why is life never simple?

Not too good today, nausea and light headed. I’ve been eating too many of the wrong things lately and I still haven’t learned the lesson.
