Just that, really.

I'm curious to know if crashing the economy has influenced anyone's thinking...

I'll probably give Liberals a try. Or spoil my ballot. Or depending on how I feel or if its raining not even bother. They're all much of a muchness as far as I'm concerned. Don't trust any of them. Having g said rhat I think Labour are likely to win anyway. Its time for a change.

I despair of the conservatives at the moment and have always voted for them. But never again. Although I don’t think much of Angela Rainer either!

What's that got to do with policies that actually help us? Don't be so daft!

DON'T spoil ballot!!!! What a childish thing to do!

Cossy Fri 30-Sept-22 11:54:27

No ! But then again I didn’t vote Tory in the last election

SecondhandRose Fri 30-Sept-22 11:57:28

I have always been a conservative and could never imagine jumping sides to labour as the change was too much. Corbyn was so far left for me it was unthinkable.

There is nothing I hate more than a Champagne solicialist. Preach to others but continue in your capitalist bubble.

My children cannot get on the housing ladder unless we help them. We’ll be helping them with inheritance from their grandparents.

To say it’s all gone a bit bonkers the last couple of years is an understatement and as usual the stockbrockers continue making their fortunes.

I feel there should be a shake up of the Commons and the Lords and definitely their expenses.

It has been a good week for Labour and an unprecedentedly bad week for the Tories.

At times like these it is easy to think that Labour is in with a chance to win the next general election, but and it is a huge but - in order to win a majority it needs to do better probably than it has ever done.

That is the sort of mountain Labour has to climb and why imo it makes much more sense for all parties of the left to cooperate in order to save the U.K. form the destruction we are witnessing.

Hear hear! The only reason our system is so flawed is that we don't have coalition groups as in Scandinavia and Germany where the winners coalesce with others of similar policies to strengthen their hand. It leaves a healthy opposition but means that the true majority of voters are respresented.we should try it ( don't mean the pathetic coalition we tried with Con/ lib Dems either!)

Bignanny2 Fri 30-Sept-22 11:58:11

Yeah I am. Unless another political party can come up with a miracle.

katy1950 Fri 30-Sept-22 11:58:50

I think at any of the political party would struggle given the worldwide problems we are all facing it's easy being in opposition you can basically promise anything

So, we’re all either a little or very anti. It’s starting to feel we’re powerless to make a difference until the election. Could be a lot of damage before then. Maybe we should organise gran’s demo? I haven’t demonstrated since the ‘70s but feeling in despair now.

Yes, Grannyheartache, do it, I’ll come !!

Sadly I think there might be riots in the street which I’m vehemently against. I strongly feel Truss and her chancellor are utterly irresponsible

LizzieDrip Fri 30-Sept-22 12:04:21

Yes please - I’d be up for that. TBH I don’t understand why we, the general public, are not out on the streets using our democratic voice against this shower. I joined the ‘Enough is Enough’ campaign recently in the hope they would organise nationwide protest marches, but all they’re doing is holding indoor rallies in towns across the country. These seem to have gone largely unnoticed! Let’s get out in those streets and let the government know our view!

Theoddbird Fri 30-Sept-22 12:06:48

How can anyone decide what they will do in two years time?

pascal30 Fri 30-Sept-22 12:11:49

never voted for the Tories in my whole life and never will...

Skullduggery Fri 30-Sept-22 12:39:57

I have never voted Tory in my life.

Last time I voted for the green candidate as I lived in a safe Tory seat and I thought it might split the votes a bit more.

Sadly, I have to rely on my crappy U.K. pension for what it’s now worth, but I intend to apply for citizenship in another EU country. The UK has failed spectacularly and I’m hoping my adult kids will join us at some point. They will have a lot more opportunities here than being stuck back in Blighty. I thought Brexit was bad enough but dear god, this shower make Trump look almost sane. ??‍♀️

Voted mostly Tory in General Elections but not since Boris ousted TM. Certainly won’t be voting Tory next time although as I’m in very safe Con seat, it will just be a protest vote anyway.

There is no safe seat for the Tories anymore. They lost North Shropshire and Tiverton in major shock turnovers of massive majorities to LibDems.

That was before Liz got in. A Tory wipe out is music to my ears. This all started when Cameron opened his big arrogant mouth for a referendum he didn't think he would lose.

Boris has been the major game player in this country demise. He didn't want to win the leave vote. He was always remain.

It was political posturing by Gove and him to move their careers forward to takeover from Cameron and Osbourne in 2020.

They caused all this for the sake of 10 months as he got the top job in August 2019. The election under Cameron was due in May 2020.

The sh+tshow started back then leading up to MisTrust. We didn't get here overnight.

I was bought up Tory blue. I voted that way up until 2010. I finally broke that diehard mould in 2015.

I swore in 2015 I would never vote Tory again. Since 2010 election I haven't and never will again.

I'm diehard Labour now, a paid up member and an activist in many areas politically including the fight for the 2nd referendum, now involved in the closer ties with Europe movement, the pan Europe political party of VOLT and the rejoin alliances which I know won't happen overnight.

Love or loathe Maggie she would be turning in her grave at this lot.

Finally, Lis goes there a general election now. Lis doesn't go which the Tories can't do there is still every likelyhood of an earlier election and it can't come soon enough

Keir is a decent man of great integrity. For those of you who scoff go listen to James O'Brien full disclosure with Keir. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Boring is something else I hear people say. I don't care if you think he is boring, which he isn't. If I want entertaining I will go to the theatre. The P M does not need to have charisma or be entertaining. He is there to do a job which is what Keir will do

I don't want another P.M. I want a general election. I want my country back

Linda65 Fri 30-Sept-22 12:42:38

After seeing my pension pot plunge over the last few days it is a time of great worry. I certainly won’t be expecting my Tory friends to continue supporting them. Truss’s radio interviews yesterday were embarrassing and given that she kept going on about being honest and saying it like it is I have yet to see this! Blame everybody but themselves………..

Ashcombe Fri 30-Sept-22 12:46:31

Iam64:
I’m interested in the views of people on gransnet, who are natural conservative voters

Then I must be looking at very different threads from you as I've found few posts to support that point of view.

I have never voted Tory in my life and never will!

That’s how I feel.

I want to see all of the parties manifestos before deciding, two years is a very long time in politics.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 30-Sept-22 12:48:40

Exactly.

Jodieb Fri 30-Sept-22 12:57:22

If we have a candidate (doubt it) I will vote for Reform. Their leader, Richard Tice talks a of sense. He has a radio show on TalkRadio on Sundays at 10am.

DaisyAnne Fri 30-Sept-22 12:57:29

I really hope we don't have to wait 2 years. They could have destroyed so much by then.

On the other hand, they could find a leader who brings them back to traditional Conservatism and the centre-right. Who could have said two years ago that we would be where we are now and have lived through what we have lived through.

Urmstongran Fri 30-Sept-22 12:59:11

I think the next GE will be in two years’ time.

Zoejory Fri 30-Sept-22 12:59:57

No idea how I'll vote in two years time.

I think that is only true in "normal times". The main problem is the total destruction of trust in a government lingers on for a very long time. Tony Blair has still not been forgiven for the Iraq war and that was only one error. What Johnson and Truss [who will have to lead the Tories into the next election] have done will never be forgotten, even in 10 yrs time.

If that is your opinion UG, I now feel more hopeful it will be earlier.

Up for a bit of bullying on this thread? Anything to do with politics always starts with a trouble causing OP.
